- ST. LOUIS - St. Louis had a special guest in town recently to visit the World Chess Hall of Fame. It just so happens this guest will likely find himself in that same hall of fame someday down the road.
10-year-old chess player Tanitoluwa ("Tani" for short) Adewumi is the definition of a prodigy.
"Tani is the best 10-year-old in the United States, hands-down," St. Louis Chess Club Executive Director Tony Rich said. "In the U.S. we probably have two a generation... Two or three kids every 20 years maybe."
And if that wasn't impressive enough, Adewumi's story to get to where he's at now puts things into an entirely different perspective. Adewumi is a Nigerian refugee who once lived in a New York City homeless shelter. Oh, and he's also written four books already. Impressed yet?
But it's what Adewumi has planned for his future that should put people on notice.
"I want to become the youngest grandmaster and then probably world champion and break a 2900 rating," Adewumi said. "The highest (rating) is 2882 by Magnus Carlsen."

No he is not one of the best
He is without a doubt one of the best in the world at his age. Just last week he achieved his first IM norm and 127 elo, still en route to be one of the youngest IMs in US and world history and one of the Youngest GMs in history.
His live rating should be somewhere around 2303/2304 come the 1st of May putting him only 117 elo behind the highest rated 11 year old on the planet Vaclav Finek at 2417. If he can gain 127 elo in a single tournament then a 100 point gap between him and the very best in his age group should suggest he is atleast somewhere thereabout wouldn't you think so?

He obviously is extremly good for his age, to deny that is delusion, idk why you are so obsessed with this and why it hurts you so much but man you are never comming close to him or his skill and your comments are a waste of your energy cause none cares. It is a FACT that , for his age, he is among the best if you take elo points as a messurement, gameplay wise there are a bunch of high class chess players saying he is one of the greatest, why do u think your amateur analysis has any relevance .
