Is this Amazon duffle better for us taller people?
@@user-bf6go9nf6g not necessarily. I think that will always be a struggle. At least with Amazon you can easily try and return
I recently bought and used the Halfday Garment bag for a week-long trip and it worked very well. I packed one suit, a dress shirt and tie, two pairs of pants, several pairs of shorts, and several polo shirts and t-shirts. I rolled my socks and underwear and put them in with the shoes. Zipped up, the weight of the bag wasn't a problem and I used the shoulder strap. The only advice I'd give is to use travel-size toiletries packed in plastic ziplock bags to create more space and to avoid any spills or seepages. It would be even better if the bag had a few more side pockets for things like chargers and cables, but I ended up putting them in another carry-on backpack. So I'd give this item a 4.5 out of 5, with 5 being the highest rating. Hope this helps.
Awesome! I agree on the additional side pockets. That would definitely be helpful…but great tips that I’ll try. Assuming this was by car?
They have side pockets on the outside, good for car travel not for air
Thanks for the review, this product has been in my face every time i log onto FB or IG. You talked me into just going the old fashioned route and just pack my vlothes up as i normally do and just pack a portable steamer.
I'm goong to vegas for the Spence Crawford fight and I treated myself to 2 silk Gucci polo shirts for the weekend. This seemed like a good idea for the weekend until your shirts cane out wrinkled lol
Dude Im going to Vegas this Friday. All we’ll need is a spray bottle of water…step outside, and we’ll be wrinkle free in 10 seconds. 108 degrees…yikes!
@@theocdtraveler now that's a life hack 😂👌🏽
@@vincenttooles1415 haha!
Thanks for the review! The old wraparound SkyRoll/BankRoll bags seem to be designed better from a wrinkle perspective (but they don't hold quite as much from a duffel perspective). BTW, I found using plastic wraps from the cleaners help with wrinkles when packing hanging clothes in a garment bag. Also, Downy Wrinkle Release works great once you get there. Just spray the wrinkled areas, stretch the shirt out and let it dry 20 minutes. Finally, I learned to fold a suit this summer for a wedding trip to Spain. Carried two suits in my StandardLuggage backpack. Worked great. Lots of videos on this online, e.g. SUITCAFE.
And there's the answer to that how to fold a suit question. I will check that out now as well as the plastic wrap. I totally agree on wrinkle release spray...it works amazingly well. But I'm off to go check out SUITCAFE. Thanks Parker - great insights on both of your video comments. I appreciate it, sir!
I used mine a couple of time for Short trips. Didn't have any complaints about this bag at all. As far as your shirts being Winkle when unpacking your bag. There always iron in the Hotel rooms.
I agree. Pretty solid for short trips.
Thank you for your honesty
My pleasure...I wanted to love it! It was just ok!
I have a couple of things I would add to this review. I do appreciate the thoroughness, but it should be noted that this is certainly a use-case scenario and definitely subjective to travel style. If you feel the need to bring extras, no duffle is for you. If you pack for an expo/event >1 day, needing a full suit, all duffles are a bad idea. Coming from someone who regularly travels for 2 day trips, always pack wrinkle-free shirts when traveling. Yes they still wrinkle a touch regardless of what you use, but leaving it in the bathroom while showering is usually sufficient. Even the largest suitcases do not fit shirts flat and there will always be wrinkles unless you carry the luggage like a pizza. Regarding 2 pairs of shoes, I wear a pair and bring a pair, I have never brought more than 1 pair casual(on me) and 1 pair dress shoes in 10yrs. My suggestion is to make sure each garment lays very flat, and place your shirts inside your jacket. Where this duffle absolutely falls short is for anyone tall. I am only 6’1” and my shirts are too long and smashed at the bottom if left on a hangar. Resolution was to use some dry cleaning hangers and bend them to work. Where this excels is in NOT needing a suit. I have traveled on 5 day trips with this bag, pretty full but functional. Weekend trips, perfection. I adore this bag, and cant recommend it enough for casual 2-3 day trips. I actually like that I am forced to unpack it a hair and not live out of my luggage. I unzip it, pull out loose items, then hang the whole bag from the hangers with shirts and all. I like to think about it as traveling and packing convenient is always packing light, and I know the exceptions that comes with it.
Awesome feedback Tony and I think I completely concur on all parts! And you’re right….it you just need volume it’s a great solution. And regarding the 3 pairs of shoes….I work out. So I need to shoes for outfits, one to work out in….I just have to do it!
And the 6’1 piece is a killer. Me too. Thanks for the insightful feedback!
Did you review the 40 or 45 size?
Also when packing shoes, I wrap them in a plastic grocery bag so my clothes won't get dirty.
As mentioned below ALWAYS put your liquids in a zip lock bag so leaks won't be catastrophic.
So that was the 45 L. As it is, a suit hanger barely fits in the 45 L…the 40 just seems useless. I did just try out their premium bag and it is awesome! Here’s the link to that if you’re curious…but for an extra $50…it’s a no brainier get the premium!…and this will save 20%:

Great ideas with the added protection…thanks for watching and commenting!
Using mine for the 1st time this weekend. Thank you for your thorough review. cd
You’re welcome! Let me know how it goes!
Just got mine. It looks really cool. Other than that, it was a bit of a challenge the first try, packing it. Little awkward. Will take some practice. It’s larger than I thought as well. A few small planes may push back on this. I will use it however. It’s fine.
I think you’ll be fine on most planes as you’ve suggested. It’s a solid bag, I just think they can incorporate a few more innovations and it’ll be better. Enjoy the bag and safe travels!
Good review. I'm 6'4" so the tall person challenges resonate with me.
Definitely makes it a challenge!
Thank you very much! I already have a rolling garment bag which has to be checked...was hoping this would be a good carry-on...most planes have a 22 & even 24 some max length...Im looking for the dimensions when it is in duffel form...thanks for the reminder of the weight when carrying it through the airport along w my personal bag. My personal bag has a sleeve which I typically attach to a rolling carry-on. Clever idea but im concerned about the comfort factor....appreciate your review!
Thanks for watching and commenting! I just measured it and it is 22 inches long. I also just reviewed their new premium version which is much improved AND Moderne Gentleman has a couple of really great bags as well. Best of luck!
@theocdtraveler I'm impressed, AND subscribing! Totally did not expect a prompt & thorough reply!
@@impreciousnhissight I'm a travel nerd...what can I say 😅
Lol! And I am clearly Chief of the Nerdettes! I've been scrolling, waaaaay too long comparing luggage! Last question... is the rolling version of the MG on the horizon? Didn't see it on the site... maybe I just like the gimmicky stuff... maybe I need to stick w my handy dandy spinner Pullman & brush up on the Konmari method of packing😊
@@impreciousnhissight It's right here: modernegentleman.com/collections/travel-bags/products/moderne-executive-travel-duffle-bag-with-wheels?ref=OCD
Garbage in Garbage out.. if you put your clothes in wrinkled then will come out wrinkled. You mentioned when packing that you thought you were failing because they already wrinkled. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Fresh from the dry cleaner 🤷🏼
Do you have a preferred recommendation for transporting suits and shirts?
Candidly...not really. Fortunately most of my work related travel is by car. In that scenario, I'll hang my jackets up in the car...and I honestly just take them to my hotel room on the hanger.
Shirts I fold in such a way that the front is protected from wrinkling and then put them on the top of my other clothes in my Travelpro pullman suitcase. When I wear the shirt it’s covered with a suit jacket so it still looks great.
Air travel….is a whole other problem that I haven’t solved. I’ve never taken the Halfway. It just seems impractical for an airport. So I will either wear the jacket onboard and store it in an overhead or with the flight attendant. But if I have to pack it, it’s going in a standard carryon and I fold it similar to the link below (it kind of works…). Thanks for the comment! ua-cam.com/video/7lNM9FYptA4/v-deo.html
Thanks for the review. Was this carry on compliant?
I would say it’s definitely carry-on compliant… If you have the stuff it in a will it fit cage it would definitely fit
How is the quality? I travel every week for work (flights out of state) and no one is able to say if this can hold up to constant travel….for the price I’m assuming it’s better to go with a Tumi or Briggs and Riley because if it’s not sturdy might as well pay the higher price?
The quality seems good enough but honestly if you’re a road warrior this ain’t for you! I’m a big fan of TravelPro (I have a review of their midrange Roundtrip Collection) but no doubt your getting way better quality with Tumi or Briggs!
Thanks for the review!!! I knew it was a gimmick!
Not sure if the price increased but did you rate the 45 L version or the 40 L version. Their guidelines make it seem like the 40L would be too small for you (and only barely big enough for me)
Thanks for watching and commenting !This was the original 45 L. I think you’re right, that 40 L may be a little too small for me but it would be close!
@@theocdtraveler thanks, the 45L is now 108 dollars and the 40L is 98, and I think it would’ve been unfair if you tested the 40, so that’s good to know!
Two pairs of shoes (three if you include the ones you're wearing) for a two day trip? You need more versatile shoes. And, you're carrying button downs and not fully unpacking your bag? Even for only two days, I always unpack my entire bag. I need/want to hang those shirts up. That said, I'm big and I just accept that I'm gonna need to use the iron in my room because i've never found any wrinkle free solution.
My shoes are fine but I always work out and never wear the same shoes two days in a row. So yes, I need all three 🤷🏼. But I agree with you shirts always hang up….but dirty clothes, undershirts and underwear….Id just assume keep them in my Pullman then on the floor/drawer of some random Courtyard.
If you keep some of the dry clean garment bags and pack each item inside those bags then place it inside the travel garment bag, you'll be sure to have wrinkle free clothes.
I’ve heard others say that…does it actually work? I wonder what the science is there?
i want to see one duffel
Sorry. Say more?
They sell shoe bags so they don’t dirty your clothes. Also you could have just leaned it up against the back of the couch to hold its shape.
I actually have a shoe bag from Moderne Gentleman (they have a dedicated shoe compartment that I prefer ) but you’re right the couch back would help
I bought the green one. Should have watched this first.
Have you received it yet?
Could've talked a little bit more about product quality: zippers, stitching, material, etc. It's what most people who have come across stuff on social media are curious about. All garment bags have the same downsides, not sure you're going to find it easier to get your stuff into any other garment bag, or completely avoid wrinkles 😜
Great point! Quality was meh. I just put up a long video on the Modern Gentleman’s bag. I highly recommend. ua-cam.com/video/EHhbP_qmxgo/v-deo.htmlsi=b2-aW3AG20jMm1DV
Thank you for saving me $98. Really appreciate it!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Honestly, this bag is worth it.
@@cruiz78 I'd recommend a knock off - fixes design issues and half the price amzn.to/3sQhbet
Just wondering do they claim to keep your clothes wrinkle free?
"Halfday's Garment Duffel Bag is designed to keep clothes wrinkle-free. It has interior straps and clamps to keep formalwear taut and wrinkle-free. It also has a water-resistant shell and lining, elastic pouches on the inside, and a reinforced loop to keep clothes centered." __
I wouldn't call it a guarantee but their marketing does suggest that it will help. I think other viewers set it better than me - no solution is perfect...as travelers we have to master packing, ironing, steaming or just accept wrinkles!
Thank God I usually pa k a portable steamer. No matter what you do, dress shirts will always get wrinkled.
Completely agree. But you don’t just use an iron in a hotel room?
@theocdtraveler I'm a steamer guy for dress shirts but I do use irons for my pants.
Got mine through Bespoke for half the price
As it turns out…I got one through there as well!
What is Bespoke? Is it an online store I can check out? I googled it but nothing came up🥲
@@christopherbuckel9180I think they’re referring to Bespoke Post. I think it’s one of those subscription box services. I haven’t used it, but I’ve vaguely heard of it.
Did you really struggle 😂 look pretty straight forward.
Haha. Look. I know it sounds crazy but it’s painful every time…. Especially compared to a suitcase
If you want you shirts and jackets to be wrinkle free: iron and then put into a plastic bag like your cleaner or tailor gives you. You would have the same problem with a tumi garment bag.
Dude...everyone keeps telling me that. I don't understand the science but i'm doing it for sure!
@@theocdtraveler I was turned on to the plastic bag thing by a couple of friends in the clothing business. I have no clue why it works.
Is it one bag with everything in it...or one bag per shirt? Sorry...just want to make sure :)
@@theocdtraveler I used one bag per shirt or jacket. But I don't travel for business any more, so it's only for weddings, etc.
Perfect. Thx!
I own this bag and I don't get how you struggled getting your shirts and shoes in, and then zipping it. I honestly don't see how you struggle.
We’ll. I don’t use it frequently and when I do it’s a mystery. Not the best engineering IMO but I’m glad you are enjoying it.
Nice shoes!
😅 Are you mocking me?!? Hahahahaha
@@theocdtraveler I thought I was OCD. And btw, thanks for the advice. I ordered a Moderne, and assume you get a cut.
I occasionally get an affiliate percentage. A labor of love, not even breaking even! Let me know how you like the MG. Did you go wheels, or no wheels?
@@theocdtraveler No wheels. I have a wheeled bag, but this one looks more useful, and lighter too.
You should need to pack only one pair of shoes and wear the other one
People always tell me that...look, I'm weird 😀. I always roll with athletic shoes, dress shoes, and casuals
Wrinkles here or there are human, travel or no.
The second you sit down you wrinkle up.
I completely agree. So if you’re going to deal with wrinkles get a better bag. The Moderne Gentleman that I just reviewed is the same price and way better. I’ll link it below
ua-cam.com/video/EHhbP_qmxgo/v-deo.htmlsi=ymkBbyrmVQYzuNGo
Socks and undies into the shoes thank me later!
In actually do that all the time! Great way to keep the shoe formed and stuff away socks and undies!
You complain a lot.
