I can't be more impressed with Jake. Dude writes a large part of the instrumentals, writes lyrics that connect on another level, then goes and rips the drums like that's what's he's been the entire time. Insanely talented.
The album is absolutely massive, the drums are phenomenal on it (Just saw that this is the frontman that plays here, damn, one of the best vocalist is also one of the best drummer i've heard lately)
Had no idea Jake played drums on this!!! He's expanded his setup and plays guitar and drums as well as vocals for his solo project Surgeon but damn, this hits so hard.
jake composed the majority of willow! since we are writing together as a full band again, that is why SURGEON has been created, to allow the development of willows sound to continue.
Jake, I just want to say I'm incredibly proud of you man. We spoke in 2014 and I ordered the burning house shirt off you. To see where you guys are now as a band is just absolutely amazing to witness. You're pushing me to become a better musician every day, so thank you. Excited for what's to come!
y’all have grown to be like a top 5 band for me easily, literally just last month heard yalls music for the first time and now i’m absolutely hooked. i fucking love yall
This song slaps so hard. I first heard it over a year ago, and there hasn't been a day where I haven't had it in my head at least once (whenever I don't have some song from Encanto in my head or whatever)
I just wanted to say: wow. I was absolutely blown away by TCC, it will always have a special place in my heart because that’s what introduced me to the Band. I have connected with your music on a personal level, and you have never released a bad song by any means. Thank you for reforming, it got me so excited. I just wanted to ask, what are the chances of you guys releasing tabs for the new album? You guys were what made me buy a 7 string after I heard TCC (Pretty sure it’s in drop F) but apparently now you’re using 8 strings in drop D1 and doing all kinds of weird and wonderful things with pitch shifters. But it would mean a lot to me if you did release tabs for willow. Thank you for reading this whole thing though, pardon the essay 🤣
It is, man. Absolutely insane. I had no idea Jake even played the drums. He is a incredible vocalist and also one of the best drummers I have ever heard after seeing this video!
Do you know where I can find some stuff from him ? I finded his Facebook page, but there is not really much in it I really love the mix on this album I would love to find some more stuff. I only founded Two songs that are mix like that, this is The Hell I Call Home - The Cellar and Wretched Tongues - Dismal
@@str1897 the two new I, The Breather tracks are mixed by Jeff, aswell as their upcoming album. Logan Young (who was also apart of Reflections, recently left though) is also apart of that band. Dal Av (Logan Young's solo(?) project) also sounds similar.
@@jade-ne1qd thanks for the info, i already knew about dal av and i the breather since then, but thanks for taking the time to answer me ! I didn't knew he left reflections and that I the Breather announced that the singles were a part of an album
We were supposed to have Nick here to film playthroughs March-April but were unable due to restrictions on travel because of Covid19. Since we have no real idea of just how long it will be before we can safely get him here to film (likely 2-4 months) we decided to get the ball rolling on play-throughs since I wrote the drums for this record anyway. Once Nick is able to get here, we will get play-throughs with him!
the album was recorded using a td11 running through superior drummer but that set up was modeled after this one and included samples built from this kit! so in a weird way, yes.
This band is so fuckin chaotic and djenty heavy, its beyond stupid, and I grew up listening to AAL, Vildhjarta, Born Of Osiris, Veil of Maya, Carbomb, Meshuggah, Humanitys last breath, DTG, Rings of Saturn, Emmure, Signs of the swarm...etc and this band is a combiantion off all of those bands. Its fuckin obnoxiously heavy and creative in the best way, to the point where I have no idea what the fuck is going on, or how that level of creativity within the musicianship is acheived.
that is a 16” Zildjian S family trash crash on top of a 16” Zildjian ZBT china (upside down). Previously had a 16” oriental underneath but the ZBT really adds an extra trashy sound with a bit lower tone. Plus since they’re cheaper, I don’t feel bad about laying into them 😂
there are some songs with pitched screaming and a song with clean vocals. the album is out now! you can find it on iTunes, Spotify and all other major music platforms!
I thought Ethan Thomas from Condemned 2 was playing the drums... and then I realized he was just the whole embodiment of Condemned 2 put into musical form.
Since Nick is in New York we were unable to get him here to film play-throughs due to Covid19. Because of that we'd be looking at potentially another 2-4 months of not having any content available for drums. Being that I (Jake) write a lot of the drums for the band and particularly on this record, I decided to just get the ball rolling. When Nick is able to get here and film play-throughs, I will likely change the title of my play-throughs to "Official Drum Cover" so we can get new ones up of his playing.
Hi yes serious question. Which mics should I use if I’m trying to convince people that this is a live drum recording when in fact I’m just playing along to programmed drums?
Hey Tyler, lots of play-through videos aren’t live audio. I use the mics for recording other things for other projects, but I’m certainly not up to par with my own recording/mixing ability to provide the type of quality sounds against what our record sounds like. That’s why I had our engineer Jeff take my audio and run it with all the albums samples. I did however re-track this on my roland Td11 and played as closely as I could to that! If you listen to the actual song it’s played a little differently. Obviously from there the midi gets quantized and put on the grid, but I assure you I can play the song! Made this decision for sound quality. Hopefully down the road I’ll be knowledgeable enough/more experienced with mixing and recording to have 100% live audio! - Jake

I didn't know you could play vocals
Easily the most underrated band in the heavy music scene (and has been for years). Thanks for the new album, boys
Am I the only one who loved that Bell part right before the breakdown at the end?
That was so unexpected but I loved it so much. ❤️

this never loses validity, amazing man

The heaviness is real
I'm worried about that little mixer under the china.
That was a great one!!! Congratulations for the new album and for this playthrough ❤
I wasn't even aware jake played drums. This is gnarly
Neither was I.... this video is insane haha. He is an incredible vocalist, and also one of the cleanest drummers I have heard. One talented man!
