Player:Heroes Of Xanadu - G.I. Joe - A Real American Hero is one the most Underrated game on Nes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero is a 1991 run and gun game published by Taxan for the Nintendo Entertainment System based on the toyline of the same name. The game was produced by Ken Lobb and developed by the same Japanese team that later formed KID. Another NES G.I. Joe game, G.I. Joe:The Atlantis Factor, was released the following year, but was published by Capcom instead of Taxan.The player takes control of a team of three G.I. Joe characters, each with their own specialty and different power.The player's goal is to navigate through six stages (with several areas each) on a mission to finally bring down Cobra.The initial character roster consists of Duke, Snake Eyes, Blizzard, Captain
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grid-Iron, and Rock 'n Roll.A sixth character, Hawk, gives orders to the team between missions, and becomes available as a playable character for the final stage. Each level had a character that was pre-determined to lead the team, meaning that one character in the given area would be chosen by default, and the player would then select the two other operatives to complete each missions. The player collects power-ups in the game that increases an individual character's abilities. Gun icons increases firepower, K-rations recovers energy, and Chevron icons increases the current character's maximum stamina. Bullet icons refills the player's collective ammunition and bulletproof vest icons that grant

temporary invincibility are also available at designated locations on each area. Icons flashing in red are more valuable than ordinary icons and they are more hard to find like in secret passages. All upgrades garnered during the course of the game are permanent, provided of course the character survives the mission.Certain areas have empty enemy vehicles that the main character can operate. The three different vehicles available are the Buzz Boar, the powerful Pogo, and the Armored Battle Copter. The player can still plant bombs while riding these vehicles and get power-up or other items. The format of each stage is broken up into three different areas, which follows the following formula:In the first area, the

player's team would fight their way into one of Cobra's bases. In the second area, the player's team has to plant a certain number of bombs inside the base before a pre-determined amount of time. The final area of the stage is a fight with the base's commanderThe game issues the player a password for each level completed. The Cobra soldiers and bosses (Range-Viper, Metal-Head, Overlord, Voltar, Destro and Cobra Commander) are all based on characters from the original toyline in the series. The six missions that the G.I. Joe team members must progress through each take place in a different part of the world: the Amazon Forest, Antarctica Glacier, New York City Underground, The Black Hills, and Red Sahara.

here i am 23 years later after first time playing this. still looks good, still playable. The soundtrack of this game is just amazing.
@Jesus tá na caridade aos Pobres what?
I am 24 yo now, and it was one of my first games. I still love and still hate this game, so much nostalgic memories I had..
Hold up... I'm 34 now I played this when I was 5, you guys were playing retro back in the day. Respect.
@@ncolvin05 yep 13 years old, 1992 LOL
Yes, I love it
It's crazy how underrated this game was. I don't think I knew one other person who ever played it. It never gets mentioned as a top NES game when it should be
Thid is snes number 1 gsmes
What a trip down memory lane. A time when life was simple and the summers lasted for what felt like forever.
And it still wasn't enough time!😹
And when you didn't have to pay for extras once you bought a game game was yours and all its unlocks not like today. 🤨
Dude, totally. At 44 they fly by. Wonder if it's still forever for my kids
Driveable vehicles, several characters to play with, tons of bosses and different enemies with different graphics, wow this game offers more than a lot of 2019 games
I like classic games as much as the next guy, but let's not pretend this game is offering ground breaking features. It takes under an hour to beat and cost $50 in the 80s, which would nearly be $120 today. It's a simple game with very basic gameplay and controls. It's still fun and the music is classic.
@@DeltathRiylaan Dude. The level of customisation and replayability to this game is insane.
@@DeltathRiylaan this guy can beat the game in under an hour, but that's a lot of dying to get here. No cheats, no internet, just repeat repeat repeat
@@aaronthewarmonger I'm not entirely sure what point you're making.
Are you joking?
This game have good music good puzzles god animation and it was hard.
Today you have 3 stages shoot anything it moves. And go online to enjoy the game
The Taxan team deserves much praise for their handling of the well-established G.I.Joe license. Led by Kenneth Lobb (the man own helped make the N64 worth owning with game like GoldenEye and Perfect Dark), the developers carefully examined and took note of the characters available to them and fit them nicely to their purposes.
Nice!! That's some nice background info bro!
Well KID did make this and the second game as well as stuff like Kick Master for Taito, and a little game called Low G Man for the NES. They developed other games too.
This sprite art for this game is *VERY WELL POLISHED.* Cut scenes, full body illustrations, and even the bombs bring left have animation to them. Kudos to the game devs! 👏
Finally I can see what happens at the end of the game. I was always stuck at the final stage and couldn't figure it out. Thanks
Ha, yeah this game got brutally hard. I never beat it either. I always loved the music and sound design on this game as well as the graphics and overall epic gameplay.
But yeah, I remember at some point having to give up trying to beat it as it kept taking away bars from my max health after I died. The only away around it was to start the game all over and hope that you played better.
I think it may have done that each death from that point on. Aside from that unfairness it was a great game.
I think I didn't hold it against it like I would've with a number of other games as I felt I'd already played close enough to the equivalent of a full game.
And it like others have said it definitely had real replay value. Yeah I made it to that point more than once and it did that same max health subtraction bs. After that I knew it wasn't a glitch like I thought it might've been the first time. Anyway cool game aside from that.
this is my Number 1 game, I loved it! the password feature was increible in that times, I remember that I burn out a NES playing this game without stop in one entire day , but it was worth XDD.
This game is *precious jewel* that i highly reccomend for any *real fans* of *The Nintendo Entertainment System*. From the *intense music* that pump me up every time i played it to the *precise game control*, *the awesome sound effects*, *the impressive graphics*, *the huge selection of classic joes characters*, *the amazing level design*, and a very *special gift* given by the creators of the game at the end (general Hawk with a jet pack), *a second and third quest*, what more can a fan of the system ask? This game is *clearly nothing short of a masterpiece*.
Alfredo Antonio Martinez I wrote a password down wrong once I was so pissed
@@robvas, ugh been there at least on a different game. I think it was River City Ransom (which while cool and classic, this game I'd say was a bit better, truly underrated) that had one of the most ridiculously long password systems.
You really had to focus hard when writing down passwords like that. It didn't help that most of us were hopped up on our kiddie liquid cocaine soft drinks. As a child of adhd and a former swiller of sodas it's amazing I ever got any of those passwords right ; )
I'm a huge GI Joe fan from my childhood. Even now as an adult I'm shocked by how well the GI Joe franchise was actually handled in this game. I still have my copy. I need to crack it out and give it a go again. The game got me so excited as a kid as I had most of the characters and vehicles that were shown in the game! Also, Metalhead talking shit about the Range Vipers will always stick with me!
That bomb placement sound! This was my favorite game during old days!
Yes, it was epic quality details like that really pushed you even deeper into the game. I remembered that part in particular years later and after not even playing the game (or seeing a play thru like this one) for quite a while. Such a bad, bad uber cool game : )
36:34 Damn AVGN!!
I'll never watch an old game ending again without looking for "CONGLATURATION!"... 😂😂😂😂
This one and Atlantis Factor are two nes gems. Love them both. I also love both soundtracks.
I had this as a kid back in the early 90s. The detail that went into this was impressive. Anyone who collected the toys and watched the show (both of which I did religiously) could tell the difference between all of the Vipers.
Edit- What a lot of people didn't know was if you shoot the ceiling during the stage 2-2 boss fight with the Buzz Boars, one will drop down that you can use.
Was never a fan of GI Joe as a kid but when I bought this game I loved it
This takes me back. Thanks!
Love GI JOE .My family was a GI JOE house hold.Great moment in my life.
This is much better than i expected :0
Lots of fun to be had
Snake-Eyes - Can jump higher and punch faster than his ally.Capt. Grid-Iron - Has the strongest fist power.Duke - The most balanced.Rock ‘n Roll - Has the strongest firepower and the widest range.General Hawk - He uses a jetpack, and he's powerful in every area. Blizzard - Is great during the antarctic world
Snake Eyes all the way. Infinite firepower.
Also, Blizzard's gunshots can go through walls to hit enemies
I remember renting this as a kid and it was awesome!! I wish I would have bought it!!
This game was really dope for its time.
- Multiple characters with different statistics and properties you can upgrade during progress and switch anytime
- Hidden unlockables
- Stages with great variety - classic side scroller and mazes
- Multiple vehicles you can use during exploration
- Bosses with multiple phases
- Kickass soundtrack
Qué recuerdos! 97, tenía 7 años cuando jugaba esto. La música está genial.
In G.I. Joe, the task force of the joes has been able to pinpoint the main bases of the Cobra organization, and decided to put an end to their criminal acts. No “diplomatic solutions” here: the idea is to infiltrate the bases, set some bombs and explode all the buildings. Each Cobra troop does what he's supposed to do: Frag Vipers throw grenades, Rock Vipers repel from rocks, and Night Vipers sneak up on you with little warning. While these details will go unnoticed by most players, it gives any devotee of the G.I.Joe franchise a sense of satisfaction that grown men at
a software company treated their subject with respect and professionalism. An interesting feature is that whenever you find a Cobra vehicle abandoned along the way, you can get into it and use it to attack your foes.Cobra Chopper, Cobra Buzz Boar, Cobra Mech, The bomb-planting segments are no cakewalk, either. Well... at first they are, but after the first two missions, they get complicated. Gun- Levels up your weapon. Collect four of these to make your gun go up a level.Regular recover item- these are seen as a "K". This recovers two units of health. (One in
the third quest).Flashing recovery item- Same as above, but recovers every single unit.Bullet- adds ten bullets to your weapon. (Five in the third quest.)Flashing bullet- Same, but adds 30 bullets. Life up- Seen as two arrows pointing down, like a medal of sorts. Adds two units to your health. They don't recover, however, and a certain Joe soldier can pick up about three of these until maxed out on health. Invincibilty vest- Slap this on you to stay invincible for 20 seconds. I never play with Snake-Eyes or Blizzard for obvious reasons.General Hawk is the best G.I Joe.
This wasn't a great game, but it really does seem like one of the better attempts from a developer to utilize a license to the fullest during the NES era. You have to respect them for that.
Just came here to bring back old memories gi joe was one of my fav game
One of my all time favorite NES games
I like the subtle nods that were given to the 1986 movie, such as the Cobra-La Royal Guards in the New York Sewer and Golobulus as a boss in the Sahara.
so many saturday afternoons after soccer games playing this bad boy on nes
I have to say this game was way ahead of it's time. Never seen NES game this advance.
Such a great game. Still holds up today.
Loved this game as a kid!
The first level music sounds a bit like the Phantasy Star dungeon theme !
I remember renting this game. Great one!
WOW para un nes tiene unos efectos inspiradores
Este juego es espectacular nunca lo e jugado pero lo buscare para jugarlo
Con 8 bites se pueden hacer maravillas esto demuestra que cuando se quiere se puede 👍
Brings back memories
best gi joe game i've ever played
Music from this game is EPIC !!
That scaling effect in the first level was really impressive. I didn't know the NES could do that in the foreground. Wonder how Naxat pulled it off.
I remember renting this at my cousins and playing all night and beating it tough game super fun.
Great Soundtrack.
Nearly similar to Contra.
What an amazing game. I also remember this game has some kind of "new game plus" that gives different text at the ending.
LOL. I think you're supposed to take Snake Eyes in the First level. Not to really max him out, but to max out Duke, by jumping up high with Snake Eyes for the gun power up at 1:30 then quickly pressing pause to switch back to Duke in mid air and getting the gun power up to go to Duke. You should have Duke's gun maxed out or close to it by the end of the first level. Never let power ups go to waste! :p
Impresionante.
Wow this game brought me back thx!!!
+Bronxbomber You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it. G.I. Joe is such a awesome game.
Gracias compaaaa..yo le juagaba est juego en mi niñes..gracias capoo! 😎🇦🇷
I played this game 30 years ago. I wish I kept my console and the cartridges....sweet memory anyway.
Absolutely amazing old game :)))
I just bought this game..$50 but had to have one of the best NES games ever!
aun conservo este genial juego, de lo mejor para el NES
maravilloso juego yo era pobre en ese tiempo por cosas del destino junte para comprarlo una maravilla que pocos tuvimos el placer de jugarlo
Brings me back. Forgot you play Donkey Kong with Road Pig. One thing that gets me: with other characters and vehicles nicely re-created, why is one boss some AI Computer. It's not like there weren't a ton more vehicles and characters to choose from.
G.I.Joe has the best video game bosses lol :D
TBH reason I loved the Metal Gear 1 and 2 bosses (and MGS3 Cobras) so much was they felt kinda like G.I.Joe villains haha
This game has held up surprisingly well imo
Refresh childhood memories awesome game that was
What a awesome game to play.
Aaaaaa. Tantos recuerdos! El juego más querido de mi infancia!
Gi joe for Nes... the only true GI Joe video games.
I remember this game but never played it or saw much of it growing but this game looks freaking fantastic! Very nice and fun looking 8 bit title.
+JC Martin You got that right, one of my favorite title on the system. Just love this game.
JC Martin It was very good if you were a fan of the toys and cartoon.
This was an awesome game from my favorite cartoon!
Roadpigjohn The best G.I Joe game ever made on cartridge.

Amazing soundtrack... I think this game could havwe inspired Metal Slug
sup man! great vid! i was wondering if there was a nes g.i. joe game where you throw grenades and there is a helicopter boss towards the beginning?
Juan Jimenez yes there is but I don't remember the name of it
Good memories!!!
Taxan: our games have weapons that fire ANYTHING but bullets.
This was better than the second one(Atlantis)
I couldn't agree with you more. From the level design to the selection of the heroes, music and sound-effects, real american own the antlantis factor.
this game was damn awesome pure action at the time loved it
If they finish the game for the third time in a row (which is also their maximum difficulty), they can see a variant of the final cutscene with Cobra Commander promising to return.
LMAO! I had completely forgotten that the programmers gave the HEAT-VIPERS a flamethrower!!!! Lmao. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane!
Brandon Moore those were actually Incinerators with the flamethrowers.
This was an awesome run. How long did it take you to beat this? This will be my reference to beat this game.
KWKBOX I own the original game since 1992.I can beat the game instantly because of all the practice i did over the years but the no Death Run was much more difficult and took me about 21 days of practice.
carlaho q foda essa musiquina BONS TEMPOS!!!
Alan Azevedo da saudades mesmo anos 90 tive esta fita tempos bons de mais nes snes mega drive
Cuantos recuerdos!!😢
Why is Golobulus and Cobra-La working for Cobra Commander in this game? Last I checked Cobra Commander worked for them, and they turned him into snake after one to many failures.
Love the music
Amazing run. This is a really good but hard as hell game. I have a question will you do a run of the sequel the Atlantis factor? It's different from this but I found it a pretty solid game with alot of fun exploring elements. Keep up the great work with your runs.
El mejor juego de ese tiempo..le llegue a la final .😎🇦🇷
Spaceship boss: exists
Spider robot: "I'm bout to ruin this man's whole career"
whats with the time limits in gaming?? I want to explore, take my time, and have fun damn it
mission 2-1 i always had snake eyes there the moment cobra sea ray appears i use start throwing grenades it was no damage way to beat that boss
Man this was such a hot triple A game in my days
Wish they could remastered this one in hd as long as the respect the original.
exelente juego....
cuando lo terminas, se te da la opcion de volver a jugarlo pero esta vez las marcas de las bombas estan en otros lugares...
Nicely done. Don't forget to power up your other Joes or they will be snake food.
WOW!
Which emulator did you use?
Fantástico!!!!!
The mere sound of it reminds me of FREEDOM FROM SCHOOL HOMEWORRKSS!
el soundtrack me encantaba!!!
Nunca pude superar ese último lvl de pequeño y luego se me perdió el cartucho que era de mi tio
I remember playing this in 95.. that was one Hella tough Joe game. Atlantis Factor was a flop compared to this gem!! Got this on emulation on the go these days lol. No more bulky consoles.
el mejor playthrough que he visto
Wow, thanks you so much. I really gave the game everything i had and push my gaming skills to the limit to record this playthrough. I practice for many days before i could record a playthrough without taking much damage like that.
Wow, muchas gracias. Realmente le di el juego todo lo que tenía y empujar mis habilidades de juego hasta el límite para grabar este playthrough. Practico durante muchos días antes de que pudiera grabar un playthrough sin tener mucho daño como ese
YO JOE!!
