  • The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota's most respected nameplates, and it's been re-released in a smaller, cheaper form factor. Now sharing many of the underpinnings of the rest of Toyota's refreshed truck lineup, we've been curious to drive it. Now, thanks to Toyota bringing us to San Diego, we drive the new and highly anticipated Land Cruiser off road. Join us for a Test Drive. And now... we wonder how it is on-road!

    Mudstard FTW!
Seriously though, an awesome review even on the Toyota approved off-road track. As the owner of a ‘96 LX450, I am seriously contemplating the purchase of the Lexus version of this truck. I don’t like vehicles that do the driving for me and thus would not likely use the features that a lot of buyers would want. That said, I agree that Toyota got the sizing (& pricing ) right and am glad that they leaned into their off-road heritage for this model.
Keep up the good work and I’ll be watching/listening well into the future!

Great review! Best duo in the business! Love this Land cruiser and been looking at the Lexus GX550 and just waiting to see what you guys think of the upcoming hybrid version.

Guys, it isn't smaller than the last Land Cruiser, it may feel that way and the boxy styling may look that way but its not.

The new 4runner is even slightly larger. Put these next to a 1st gen 4runner or even a 3rd gen 4runner and you realize these things are huge. Heck, the Rav4 is the size of a 3rd gen 4runner.
Can we please get a small body on frame off-roader? Can Toyota revive the FJ Cruiser name and not be some EV softroader? Can we get a small, body on frame with a live rear axle and simple naturally aspirated power. Same goes for Jeep, there lineup has gotten so huge. Can we get a scaled down Wrangler???

Hi, from Japan!! The color is “Trail Dust”, I believe. By the way, most of the case, Japanese people prefer to choose White, Black or Silver when they buy cars. So your car selling price will go down if the color is not of these.

As a 200 series owner. I like the look. But I want a full size j300. The 200 was about stealth wealth and if they bring the j300 to the USA I’ll be a day one buyer. Otherwise I would get the new 4Runner
