I love how there is CBeebies land that is all cute and happy and then you have a literal Satan rollercoaster halfway across the park

i love how when you’re queueing up you feel happy/ excited to go on, but when u sit in the roller coaster fear fills you 😭
Other way around for me - shitting myself in the queue but loving the feeling once I'm sat down. That's what forced me to walk out the nemesis queue, and I still regret it.

It’s the opposite for me. Genuinely crying having panic attack in the queue, almost hugging a stranger during the pre-show and then absolutely loving the ride.
We can’t forget this ride is literally about human sacrifices

+AD This same park also have the “Smiler” which is a much more explicitedly theme ride about some evil organization and mind control. I don’t think vague human sacrifice is too big of a deal. I know about the Aztecs. I’ve came up with a lot more fuck up things in my head

I agree with you on safety being the No.1 priority, because for them to open the park anyway despite the outbreak would just be a complete and reckless disregard to our public health and wellbeing, not to mention how much more the virus would have spread... it just doesn’t bear thinking about.
Josh Bacon They opened the park while there is a virus? No wonder so many people died already people aren’t taking the virus seriously a lot of people got arrested because they left their houses

Went on this one yesterday and it was a pleasure to ride this one. The speed on this thing is insane, the G force is incredibly powerful fast. One of my favourites at Alton Towers. I hope this one stays at the park for many year's. Its good fun.

100000% agree, terrified of it, first rollercoaster I go on (in my life that I'm aware of) I get front cart. And it felt scary.
I rode this pretty close to the opening weekend, and it already feels weirdly nostalgic... hope to get on this wonderfully themed coaster again soon!
I can't wait to get back on this incredible ride once the park reopens! I'm praying that the number of daily UK coronavirus cases has reduced enough for the park to open on July 4th, fingers crossed! #FeedTheFlames

@@leedickson2701 Yeah, I know it won't be, that was an unrealistically optimistic statement, but I reckon it will open in June, or maybe at the start of the summer holidays.

Despite events that have happened at this park, rides breaking down, long queues thousands of people look forward to coming here every year, it is one of my favourite places on this planet and I hope this ‘thing’ passes over soon, it is for everyone’s safety that it has closed but I am sure we will be seeing that purple corkscrew again
It would be nice if they made a replica of the corkscrew for the 50th anniversary. an actual rise. Bring back some classics towers.

@@irlbratzdoll_4994x the accident was human error, there was nothing wrong with the ride itself and ontop of that they invested 18m pounds into it, i don't see why they would shut it

1:03 - 1:09 is probably the most intense part in my opinion. That quick whip downwards followed by an airtime hill is crazy.

Today I went on Wickerman as my first ever rollercoaster. I regret eating a wrap right before going on... At one point I felt like I could barely breathe, I spent half the ride holding my glasses on my face. Yet, I loved it and went on 13!
I was honestly expecting just before it was gonna go down, a rickroll would play.
I was at the front of this and the Smiler on my first time at Alton Towers. And there was a Thunderstorm, Lightning and massive Hail.... 😬

Can anyone explain why the brake-run is angled slightly? From and engineering point of view i would love to know

My chainlift stopped when I went on it 2023 monday august 28th the ride was there then went back down before being caught again is there anything you could do to stop this it was very odd and kinda scary knowing we could fall back any moment.
The lift hill has an anti-rollback mechanism. There's a toothed rail that runs up the middle of the track and levers on the underside of the train ratchet up it as it climbs. If the chain stops or breaks, the levers grip the rail. The train rolls back a couple of inches at most, although this can feel like more to a nervous rider. These safety systems are very reliable and are tested thoroughly.
Went on this last week to get over my fear of rides and it was amazing can’t wait to go back on it
I'm gonna ride it to get over my fear of rollercoasters too.

I did on Sunday! First ever roller-coaster I went on it not once but 3 times!! Absolutely amazing coaster

In my opinion, you just need to go on it. I can assure you that you will love it. One of the best at Alton! Definitely go on it if you can. You will feel some intensity but overall it’ll be so fun

I think this ride could be greatly improved if in that really long break run tunnel where nothing really happens, they filled it with bees and you can just hear "What is that, what is that? OH NO, NOT THE BEES! NOT THE BEES! AUUUGHHH, THEY'RE IN MY EYES! MY EYES! AAAAHHHHHH!"

Just been on this ride and wow, it feels dated, rusty and crusty. I don’t understand why they invested so much money in building something that looks like it was made in 1800s. Blackpool pleasure beach and Thorpe park are so much better.

POV never looks good on camera but this looks quite boring in spite of that. Wooden coasters were surpassed by metal coasters for good reason. Blackpools Icon wipes the floor with this surely.

Wish I was 30 yrs or so, younger. Back in the 80's I used to visit the resort very regularly and enjoyed the many attractions that were there then. I can remember the Black Hole roller-coaster and the famous Corkscrew. Looking at these rides now; Amazing as they may seam, i am not sure my heart could take it lol.

I went in August of this year... And let me tell you, its sooo much better in person. I kinda wish it lasted longer though. The 90 minute queue was still worth it.
