Hardly recognized you without the GoPro rig.Still want to see where your going to mount that efifier 2.1 system in that car. I might make one fit in my semi sleeper of I can come up with a place to mount the left and right speakers.
You mean Crown Vic? I've only ever seen one Marquis police car in my life and the guy took extra measures to make sure it was discrete lol. I worked at the dealership he brought it to and drove it for myself and didn't realize I was driving a police car haha! He told me when I picked him up to retrieve his car lol
My city uses the Taurus-based Interceptors and Ford SUV's. I kinda miss seeing the old Crown Vics prowling around, they had a certain presence that all the newer Police cars seem to lack, save for the Charger maybe.
Its Literally a Holden Caprice without the leather interior and a few other mods to get the cop build contract. i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDI3WDY0MA==/z/-28AAOSwx2dYGpSt/$_35.JPG STRETCHED WHEELBASE COMMY
Craig Oliveira yea, basically a poverty pack Holden Caprice/Statesman - long wheel base Commodore. Ive seen them sitting at the docks in Adelaide awaiting export.
Z Reviews Will shoot you an email with my contact info in a little bit. Might be a bit harder to find some stuff since the new Caprices are a bit different and theyre out of production after 2017.
The last of the Caprice police cars around here had column shifters, so there was room for radio/light bar controller. Once they were discontinued, there were companies that rebuilt them. Engine, transmission, springs, even replaced frayed seat belts and broken down seats. Luminas that came after were awful. Didn’t stop nearly as well, wouldn’t hold up to someone trying to kick out the rear doors.
After watching your review of this car I happened to take note, the county I live in has at least 3 of these things. I listened as one pulled away at a stoplight and they have a pretty decent sounding exhaust. I've always wanted to own a cop car but I think this Caprice may have moved up the list.
Probably cause it's not his car and it's not ven his buddy's car. It's a stranger's car. I think I'd drive the same if someone gave something epic to drive to me. Granted, he drives rust buckets people give him with the same respect, and that I wouldn't do. :D
I checked out one. I'd love to get one in the near future. The interior feels pretty good and the build quality is pretty good too. I've seen several in service lately. Its too bad production has ended for them.
I've driven a few different patrol cars in my 13 years as an LEO, but this one intrigues me. The Crown Vic is a tank, you can't kill them, but they are dinosaurs these days. The old LT1 Caprice was a boat...but for its time, a speed boat. 2007 Charger was fast and handles great, but damn that gen had issues! The same era Impala was just junk. My newest 2015 Charger I love. It's fast, good brakes, handles well. My only problem is the dash. The display is almost entirely LCD. Call me an old man (just turned 40) but I hate it! Give me real needles! Anyway...I love your videos! keep them coming!
Ive seen these at the University of Connecticut, 1 black, 1 silver, and i think i might have even spotted a maroon one. As an avid enthusiast type of guy, these kinds of cars stick out amongst the many prius', and the like seen at the university. Never wanna get chased down by one, thats for sure.
That shifter looks custom to that model. I've driven a lot of Chevy models and never seen it. Looks like a blend of impala and equinox shifter. Most big Chevy vans are column shift like the trucks and suburbans. The minivan, the Uplander, stopped in 2008. The city express can have a center shifter, but it has a thumb trigger, not a front trigger. I like how it looks, kinda stubby but a NICE GIRRRTH!
In Australia Caprices/Statesmans (same car but lower trim level) are commonly used as taxis and are converted to hearses for funeral companies. The police mostly use Commodore sv6's and ss's (ls3 motors).
@@yusufgta4341 these had the 6l made in Mexico unless it was a hsv, no clue why Holden didn't make its own LS's instead of making that pos dohc "alloytec" v6
The CTPD (Center Township Police Department) in Monaca Pennsylvania owns one of these. They also still have a Crown Vic. The rest of their cars are Ford Explorers. Also, the I've seen a Caprice driving around Pittsburgh International Airport a few times, owned by the Allegheny County Police. They also have a police F150.
SCHP? I''ve never seen Vipers, but I see a few Chargers. Usually, they either drive Crown Victoria's, Interceptor's (Taurus's), or Dodge Durango's. I've seen just a few Explorer's.
Clueless Drivers of South Carolina It was a while ago. . maybe 2011. I was tooling along I20 towards Columbia from Florence. Saw two in that silver color they seem to like.
MAN_ON_WHEELZ Police vehicles use column shifters because it allows for quicker shifts in case you need to get into drive or reverse quickly. From 2014 onwards the Caprices have column shifters.
Plus cop cars usually need all the center console room they can get for stuff like laptops, emergency light & siren controllers, gun racks, etc. and a console shifter gets in the way of that stuff.
M Kefer Correct, installing a console into a vehicle with a regular shifter is a pain in the ass and restricts a lot of the room you would need for wiring.
Yeah column shifters in cop cars is more for practicality than it would be shifting faster. I worked at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer for 4 years so guess what I drove a whole lot of. Column shifters are less reliable in knowing what gear you just slammed it into blindly. For speed I'd much prefer center console shifters.
Daniel Arden have you ever driven one? they are awful. our older crown vics are in better shape than a 2013 caprice. everytime i test drive one, they are falling apart more than what the PD officer complained about....
jon D weird. I drove one once and I had a great time. as performance goes, it's one of the best but Idk anything about the longevity of them. the departments around here have thousand of them. more than vics.
I saw a Chevy SS the other day with holden badges, a V8 Badge, and a Cadillac "V" badge. It was weird as hell but I still gave him the thumbs up for buying an SS
drove one of these that my partner (ex cop) bought. remarkably fast car, but incredibly vague steering. and the brakes really are absurd. his was a detective car, so it had low hours, and by 80k miles was still running strong. if i had a need for a fast, safe, competent handling, cheap four door car, i'd seriously consider a caprice ppv. the only real drawback they have apart from the automatic only transmission is 14 city/20 hwy mpg. not phenomenal.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is starting to replace the P71s with these and the explorer interceptor; but my local city and County EXCLUSIVELY use Taurus Interceptors (actually purchased through the local Ford Dealer, instead of an out of County dealer)
Any chance you could get your hands on a Chrysler Concorde, 300M, or Dodge Intrepid? I remember seeing them everywhere when I was a kid, and I think they fit the idea of the channel.
Kurukx you're right, it wasn't the deactivating cylinders, it was the idle hours, but the deactivation actually hydraulically shifts the cam position which can round off the lobes on one bank if it's done excessively and on subpar oils.
Hi mate, basically its the Holden HSV Grange, but a few extras for the USa Police model which is the shift handle is moved over a little more and also other little holden extras, but those same extras are on the SS 2015 model which the USA have, so i am surprised that Chev in the USa has not won the contract to supply the cops over there, with the new SS or holden VF SSV Redline ? Basically bigger motor and more power as well ?
Michigan is such a smorgasbord of cop cars. Like what the hell are we even doing... P71, PPV, Ford PI, Chargers, the Escape-model PIs... Like I know I'm missing some but what the hell...

They have them in town. Still many Vics, lots of new gen Chargers, some Tauruses and Explorers, obviously Tahoes too. I think all the Rams I've seen around are unmarked.
My 2011 holden berlina wagon has the map and other buttons but it was a custom thing to get from the dealer to have maps installed. Holden were lazy and just kept the buttons on the dash and hoped people would purchase the maps
I almost purchased a 2008 Chevy Impala police car 2 years ago it was an "under cover" unmarked car to patrol the highways and sneak up on people so I doubt if it spent much time idling. I think the millage was something similar to this one in the video when he got his. I was 100% ready to buy it, but the financing company the dealer/junk yard.... used said it was 1 year to old to finance...... I was disappointed.... I'd of preferred a crown Vic tho. there such staple police cars haha. even when I see one unmarked I slow down. lol
Dylan Mayhew it actually kinda sucks owning a ppv. everyone slowing down means that they slow down in front of you so it's impossible to drive normally in traffic.

The reason its not used in Pennsylvania is because it was not made in the USA. Thus the funds weather from local, state, or federal government, will not purchase any vehicle other then make in the USA and with good reason.

These things are gonna be fun when they hit second hand.
Manual swaps for days.
I'm watching this because I want to find one and manual swap/ do something about that traction control issue
Of all the Regular cars featured this (beside the 2005 Outback, which I have) is the first one I'd really like to drive.
im glad i stayed up untill 5 am this morning
perfect timing - why am I still up?
Lucked out finding a 2014 PPV at a local tent event. Only 5,000 miles, low idle time and driven by an elderly clergyman. No police wear and tear :)
But the back seat might be full of boy goo. I'd have it professionally cleaned.
You know? The dealership did mention that the spotlight was used for more than spotting things. Maybe that's why the backseat is all crusty...

this one too eventually.

WHAT!
Z Reviews Hi :)
U still have the caprice
It weirds me out seeing this as a left hand drive with base model trim inside. The Caprice here is still a luxury tank in the same body.
The cops just wanted the long wheelbase, but downgrade to steel wheels and cheap interior, as is it will get a beating chasing villains.
you can get FULL SPEC 6L WM caprices here for under $15k, caprice being the highest spec luxury option badge here in Aus, the opposite for these PPVs as they are less spec'd then the base model holden statesmans they are based on, but still called a caprice as thats what your old Chevs were called.
They have them in town. Still many Vics, lots of new gen Chargers, some Tauruses and Explorers, obviously Tahoes too. I think all the Rams I've seen around are unmarked.
True . put Chevy badge or Holden badge the G8 , SS and caprice are great cars built in AUS with US LS .
New Zealand we use V6 holden commodores and they wonder why people always get away
Thanks for the info on the cam shaft
I live in Southern California and I have seen none of these. I've only seen Crown Vics, Taurus', and a variety of SUVs
The Los Angeles Airport Police has Caprices. The only SoCal municipal agency that I've seen so far with Caprices is the Chula Vista Police Department.
Here in Texas they are very common.
YellowBeanieBoy here in Nor.Cal I've seen a lot near the Stockton area. Specifically the CHP.
YellowBeanieBoy Virginia police love them. Always see them here.
I thought the guy in the back was holding a bong the whole time.
maybe he is.......
the passenger sounds like that teacher / wrestler in that Adam Sandler movie
Does that guy have a bong in the back seat?
What you paid for it? And there's a few here in Florida I've noticed them , some counties have them.
My 2011 holden berlina wagon has the map and other buttons but it was a custom thing to get from the dealer to have maps installed. Holden were lazy and just kept the buttons on the dash and hoped people would purchase the maps
Im deciding between caprice or the charger police package
come on down to Maryland I'm pretty sure they bought out the whole stock that's all I see now
awesome video but can u guys do a actual pontiac g8 gt plz same car kinda different
This is a vid with Zeos. How dare you cut it shorter than an hour!!!

The owner isn't the brightest of the bunch. "You can't do burnouts because of the ABS" Seriously!?
I need one of these
Zeos?? On RCR?? I knew that voice sounded familiar
Upper providence police had an undercover tan Caprice a couple months ago, aka where you filmed this video
How did he find one of these already?

if I got the impala accept for the rims no one could tell it was a police car. they had it painted blue.
(badly over the original white)
(you could see white around the edges of the fenders)
maybe next time. if I had the cash I'd of got it but I had to finance....
Middletown, PA PD has them.
The owner clearly doesn’t know that GM owns Holden lol. It’s an Australian branch.
Falcons are the normal cop cars in Australia. I heard rumour that it was because of the brakes being better than the Holden
Pogla The Grate Not in Victoria, they're all VF Commos down here
SA and Vic have holdens, not sure about the other states.
www.motoring.com.au/where-to-for-aussie-cops-43787/ Seems to be more Holdens than I remember
The reason its not used in Pennsylvania is because it was not made in the USA. Thus the funds weather from local, state, or federal government, will not purchase any vehicle other then make in the USA and with good reason.
Mr. Regular needs to review the Honda Grom, I kinda feel like it's the Miata of bikes
Are the front seats stab proof?
yes but never saw the point if your face is right there.
Hold down traction control button for 5 seconds to fully turn it off u don't need to pull the abs fuse
Is he a student driver? Acts like this is his first time in any car
lol I was looking for this comment. The owner is telling him to slam on the brakes or do a burout but mr. r is too scared.
Got here fast nigga
