She was very principled, multi faceted lady who lived life according to what she believed was right. Even in her retired days she set up a school for poor children in chennai and dedicated herself to service. Yes she was very choosy on film roles and her confidence deterred many people as women were not supposed to behave like that in those days. She is a legend and will always be remembered.

I got to see this video, while browsing thru old telugu songs. Bhanumathi was a truly impressive personality. I was amazed to see her sing comfortably at this age. U have a great delivery too, Dr Rao. Those were the good old days, when there were some great writers who brought such great talent to the fore, unfortunately, in today's movies there is not much for an female artist to showcase their talent. Asked about me. She was very cordial and extremely nice. She asked me ihow long I’m in town. Also told my fav song is ‘manasuna mallelu’ and every single song from batasari. She must have smiled from the way her voice sounded test of the conversation. This is all I remember.

Amma told in an interview that she had some principles.She had athma gowravam,athma viswasam etc.She was not ready to give them for anyware and every where and any situation if any troubles come on her ways.I don't know how to express that.
I wonder if this guy who says she had a horrible voice even heard her songs from Malleshwari,Vipranarayana etc..? What is wrong with him? As for the comment that but for Bharani pictures, she would not be well known , well, she acted in any number of monumental hit movies in Telugu and Tamil that were NOT made by Bharani.. One person singing all the songs -- will make it less interesting. I can't imagine anyone singing Bhanumati gari songs. Just can't imagine. Just like the way I can't imagine some of Janaki gari songs (nee leela, naravara, etc). Coming Bhanumati garu, an amazing actress, singer, writer, director and composer!
