Skied there last year. Stayed in Canmore where lodging was reasonable but about an hour from Lake Louise. Great skiing at all 3 resorts and the scenery is stunning.
That's awesome. That's where I stayed the majority of the time at an AirB&B. Plenty to do and still gorgeous. My guess is that the town will continue to grow at a rapid pace.
@@bluebirdskiyeah unfortunately a bill just passed here in Canmore so it’s expanding by 80%. Kinda sucks cause it actually didn’t go through but the Provintial Gov approved it even though locals didn’t
@@SpicyRamen0700bummer, I grew up skiing at Schweitzer. It is growing like crazy. Hard to watch places turn into overpriced ski towns. I still enjoy the high end places for a weekend, but it is hard to watch eclectic places jump the shark.
Nice! Great information, cool views. I can't agree more about the Fairmont Lodge. Breathtaking beauty. I was thinking you would add a shout out to Panorama. Interesting painting you have in your background.
The views look like a 10 at this place. The area of Canada from Banff over to Revelstoke and Sun Peaks looks like an amazing place for an extended ski road trip from Cascadia, and Ikon has a good number of these resorts included.
I agree. I'm learning map software and plan on showing the road trip route soon. Kicking horse is also on the route. The drive itself is gorgeous, but the roses close during a good snow. I was trapped in Revelstoke a few days last year. I wasn't complaining...ha
Accommodation tip: What most people do is you stay in Banff (the town itself) and if you stay there, there's a shuttle bus that goes back and forth to the three mountains (Lake Louise, Sunshine, Norquay). They're free to everyone; not tied to your pass or accommodation. It's perfect if you're not driving. If you're driving, you get Canmore and Kananaskis as options. Farther, but cheaper. There are no accommodations, establishments, or nightlife at the base of Lake Louise Ski Resort because the resort is within the protected national park. That's why for apres, night life, accommodations, any establishments, they're all done in (town of) Banff. People just shuttle/bus it back and forth the resorts for skiing.
Lake Louise also plans on developing Richardson Ridge on the back side by the Paradise Chair in a few years. That will be a huge improvement. Also the Upper Juniper chair will not be open till 2024/2025 season. It will make the front side way more skiable. I find the front side an ice rink. I wish they would replace the Paradise Chair (opened in 85 I believe) and build a chair in the back bowls for easier access myself. Great video.
when I worked there in 1991 west bowl was not marked runs and few knew about it. I didnt know about it till the season was almost over, fuck! one time I drank all night [when I was putting my boots on in the lodge a beer fell out of my jacket and smashed.] went straight to whitehorn one without a warm up., crossed my 203cm gs skis on the first turn, and slid down on my belly face first.
GS skis on anything but groomers is brave! The people you see in the gondola with me were locals. They were frustrated the West Bowl is run accessible now. The resort has a lot of growth planned for the next five years.
@@bluebirdski at that time some brands [rossi, dynastar] had gs racing skis that were far from a full on racing ski and nice all mountain skis. Fisher, Kastle, ect had off the shelf skis that were heavier and stiffer. Yah I bet they are pissed west bowl is marked now! also hiking up from larch for 30 mins or so was nice.
LAKE LOUISE IS IN THE TOP 10 RESORTS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. IT IS NUMBER 1 IN CANADA AHEAD OF WHISTLER/BLACKCOMB. RATED 1 FOR SCENERY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD BEHIND #2 ZERMATT #3 HEAVENLY . ALL IN ALL LAKE LOUISE IS RATED #5 IN THE ENTIRE WORLD ❤❤❤❤❤.

Very well done mate. I like the approach and overview. Thanks

I would love to go skiing in the Canadian Rockies. It looks so nice!

Yeah, they're planning a lot. I agree. Seems like a high speed quad somewhere on the backside would be awesome.
The most beautiful place on Earth.
The most polluted place on earth with greenhouse gas from fossil fuels
Do the hotels have shuttle buses to the resorts? I would be visiting from the states and wondering what’s the best option. Rental car?
@@tommy2days I stayed in Canmore and had a car, but there's shuttle service. Here's a link:
