I've found the best way to play DayZ is to play it for 12 hours none stop.
The one thing that DayZ has over most video games, is the variety of ways you can play the game. That's why I will probably still be playing DayZ when I retire.

it's different for sure. i was a hard core maddenite and i barely play madden now.

sort of... thats something i envy in rust, there's soo much stuff to do in the map, so much variety, something dayz lacks
You can assume players with gear deep in the map don't want to talk and make friends because they invested so much time to get geared and are afraid to lose it or you could also assume they got that gear and are deep inside the map because they don't want to talk, make friends, and just want to kill other players. I am neither of these. I lone wolf my way through the map and avoid other players altogether. But that's what makes Dayz great, isn't it? You can play it any way you like.
I don't even have a dog.
One of my favorite dayz moments came after jumping from Livonia to Chernarus. There weren’t many people on the server, so I was surprised when I quickly ran into another player in a small town. The player was struggling, given that they were wearing damaged bright colored clothing, but I still felt hesitant to interact with them. I didn’t see a gun but you never know for sure. Regardless, I let the player see me. I was in a plate carrier and had top notch weapons, so I gave the person a scare. They didn’t have a mic, which was disappointing and made me unlikely to team up, but I decided to drop strawberry jam, a full water bottle, gloves, and a knife to help the player out. I said that the water was clean but if they didn’t trust it, which is smart, there is a water well in town. Then I left knowing I just helped that freshie win the dayz lottery. Maybe the player went on to terrorize, pillage, and kill everyone, but I like to think they paid it forward.
My son and I were playing a community server. My son killed this dude at a military base and the guy reached out to him after for a party chat. We thought he just wanted to talk smack but instead he complimented my son on his play and they ended up playing for a few hours together cooperatively. So it can happen, it’s just really rare.
My best moment was when i found a dead body of another player in Cherno, just few hours after I played the game for the first time. Until this point i couldn’t imagine how to survive longer for approximately one hour because I had no gear, i didn’t know how to maintain food and clean water and I didn’t know the map at all. Everything felt very hostile and unforgiving. But this dead body which have found, gave me the opportunity to survive longer than one hour because he had some basic survival gear and also two chickens. Suddenly the world was not as deadly anymore because I had food and I was able to start exploring. At this moment the world opened up to me and I got this feeling „i can’t die now, because if I do, i will have the struggle to find this gear all over again“. This specific dayz feeling kept me playing until now.
Back in the day, in the dayz arma 2 mod, I met a guy from another country, cos I asked in global chat for morphine for my broken leg.
Fast forward, I was invited to his wedding and a year later, they came to visit on their first anniversary.
I can truly say I met a friend for life in this game
I make electronic music, and I see huge parallels with DayZ.
I used to take days, or even weeks to make a single piece of music. It felt like every track I made was very valuable, and I became very frustrated when an idea I'd worked on for ages didn't come together. It was difficult to let the failing track just die.
Over a period of years, I adjusted my methods and workflow. Now I create music by improvising and I work quickly - tossing aside ideas if they're not working. I hit record, I play and if a track works, then I keep it. If not - no big deal.
As a new player, it takes me every effort just to kill a few zombies. If I find even a small pistol and a plastic water bottle I am elated. Cam - I see the level of gear, food and resources that players like you build up in 20 mins and think - "I can't even survive 20 mins..."
When I get better at the game, the low cost of entry to risking everything by approaching other survivors will make everything even more fun. Thanks for a really interesting video.

Nothin comes close to the unpredictability, the open possibilities for varied activities, goals n freedom of choice in creating ur own story that this game offers. It's so mentally stimulating n rewarding that I simply cannot enjoy linear story games the way I used to.
The time i was separated from buddy frantically looking for him i lay in a bush and look over into what i thought was my buddies eyes and was like oh hey man in the discord vc and he was like where you at and i was like is this you in the bush he said nope i went into gc and was like ohhh heyyy there and we both just froze and slowly backed away never breaking eye contact

Been playing for 700 hrs now.. I have never killed anyone who didn’t try to kill me first I am lone wolf I’ve saved a few survivors now either from zombies chasing them, dying of food & water or from other survivors. I simply avoid contact if possible. As much as I love this video n it encourages people to be more friendly.. sigh.. Dayz is an unforgiving game people are ruthless you really can’t trust 9/10 of survivors everyone’s bloodthirsty.. but for me I never let it change me.. I help when I can but leave n I dnt team up. That 1/10 survivors are rare those players are either the ones who KOs everyone n just got bored because their alone or it’s that real genuine ones. Anyways fck you bandits lol😅

@@camcantrun I am a freshie. Probably 60 hrs. Compared to streamers like you, I am not very good, so not much reason to want to team up with me. I don't get much time to play. I only met one player that didn't try to kill me straight away, but I was almost dead, and I am pretty sure he was making me a cannibal. Cheers!
