Dear Alan, thank you so much for these videos. Your personality and compassion can be felt through the screen, and your warmness reminds me of my grandfather. Again ,thank you so much!
I HAVE SET UP A HUGE OFFICE FORFREIGHT FORWARDING AND CHANDELLING BUSINESS BUT WITH NO ENOUGH EXPERIANCE AS I HOPE WORKING WITH HIRED EXPERTS, BUT TO BE HONEST, FEW OF YOUR VIDEOS THAT I HAVE WATCHED IS TURNING ME INTO AN EXPERT
Hello, thanks for your comment. I think you may be misunderstanding the purpose of our videos, it’s not possible for you to watch 10 minute videos and become an expert in anything. You need experience, much more study and practical knowledge and time dedicated to the industry. Our UA-cam videos are intended to be a short introduction and very basic knowledge into each subject.
Dear Alan, I want to show my appreciation on what you are doing. I keep checking your videos and have subscribed after seeing just one of your videos. Had to laugh a lot on the scam video but yeah, one needs to keep ears and eyes open. I seldomly comment, but I just had to. Keep up the good work and one can really tell, you enjoy your work, please stay well! I really am learning a lot from you. You are a blessed teacher.
Hi tsetse49, thank you so much for your comment and taking the time to post it. I really appreciate it and it inspires me to create more videos and do what I can to help others. Scammers - they’re always around us, just have to be aware is all we can do. Thanks again and all the best.
We use Laycan in Bulk Cargo for coal. What is the synonym or terms use for in Container Shipping of iron? We are actually a coal importer and now getting into iron ore export. Hence the shift from large vessels to full container loads. Is there any glossary you can link for our other questions?
Sorry for the delayed reply. As you know chartering has its own terms which are different from liner terms. If you are expecting in containers the terms you’ll trade under will be Incoterms 2020 and subject to the contract of carriage issued by the shipping line involved. These terms can be subject to the Haugue Visby rules. I am not aware of any glossary that I can’t direct you to unfortunately but hope this helps.
Thank you so much Alan for everything you do for us. I wanted to ask how do you make a deal with the shipping line? I have been planning to start my freight forwarding business but I don't know how can I get the rate. It would really be beneficial for all of us.
Hi Tahsinul, you’ll have to understand export documentation and procedure and how to calculate shipping quotes, as it’s by weight / measure. Once you understand this, contact shipping lines and ask for quotes and you’ll be able to compare. Have a look at our video here: ua-cam.com/video/yV3Y-o-RMGQ/v-deo.html and here: ua-cam.com/video/Qkvv3Br57y8/v-deo.html
Hi Ye Scene Hai, if shipping by sea freight, you will need to make the payment to your freight forwarder before they will hand over the Bill of Lading. You need to Bills of Lading in order to receive your goods from the shipping line. Similar to air freight, the freight forwarder will ask for payment before handing over the Airway Bill, although unlike the Bill of Lading, the Airway bill is not a document of title. Either way, payment will need to be made in order for you to receive the goods. Hope this helps.
Dear Alan. Love the videos. I keep on being asked to provide a LOI ( Letter Of Intent) to buy produce from different vendors all over. I have been told it’s not binding but is it a way of deciding to deal with me or not. If say I just want to use them Once? Thank you Sincerely Oliver
Hi Oliver, a letter of intent is just that, a letter stating that you intend to place an order and what the size of the order is. If you intend to use them only once, the letter can just be to show your intention of one order, perhaps with the possibility to have further orders in the future.
