There’s a small island on the west coast of Scotland called Millport, its a short ferry ride from a town called Largs. A lot of Glasgow folk (Glaswegians) went to Largs on a nice summers day
The ad cut it off, but the lady Winston is talking to on the bus is him dreaming. He wakes when the bus attendant screams at him that they’re in Finnport.

I don’t think that was Fergie, same actor but I think Fergie is a different character, I might be wrong but I think the wee Ned got called something else in an earlier episode.
Unfortunately Finport is made up. Its inspired by an actual scottish seaside location called Millport. Its apparently got a bad reputation but everytime I visited its been very beautiful.
When they said the suicides widow looked like Ken Dodd - they weren't kidding - Ken Dodd was a comedian with wild hair and he always had multi-coloured 'Ticking sticks '. Ken Dodd was notorious for doing long shows he once told an audience after a few hours of his show ' I'm sorry Ladies and Gentlemen the management have told me they have to close the Theatre at 12-00 p.m …………...so we will do the second half in the carpark '
Finport is a fictional town based on and filmed in the real life coastal towns of Largs, Saltcoats and Millport. People from Glasgow have been making trips "doon the water" to these places for decades. one of the oldest methods for tourists was a boat trip in an old paddle steamer boat called the Waverly. problem is the Waverly has a bar selling alcohol on board on board and the time this steamer reached these towns from glasgow the passengers were drunk... & thats why the term "steaming" means drunk in scotland.
Generally speaking if they’re talking about locations, towns etc. And in the show the town is a shithole, they’ll generally make a place up, probably to avoid offending people that live there…. Just my opinion….
Finport's based on Millport which was a popular holiday destination for families from Glasgow back in the 50s and 60s. Its now pretty dilapidated and run down
@@bxkid7 My favourite as a kid was(what my irish father used to call a boston burger) a roll(what you might say is a biscuit) with one lorne or square sausage, one potato scone one black pudding or as you might say blood pudding one fried egg and three or four rashers of back bacon with plenty of butter and ketchup...x...2 for all

It's a full Scottish breakfast. England have similar with bacon, eggs etc. but the Scottish one also has 'square' sausage and black pudding. Black pudding is basically a large sausage of pigs blood, spices and oats. Sounds disgusting til you try it, delicious.

Finport is Milport but they have to change the name for copyright reasons
There's no finport, it was filmed out in Largs and Saltcoats. Millport is there too so maybe it was a play on the place name
