This prime being a gen titan sold on general releases actually makes sense here considering the budget, hasbro updated this guy articulation for movablity and diamic posing, gave him his updated assories and gave him some some new ones, plus a micromaster buddy, mind you if they had him in haslab they would need to him allot more assories, plus a new buddy (one of those base dudes) for a combined base mode and combined vehicle mode, plus maybe a new securit combined robot mode.
Here's my Star Convoy history, I always wanted the figure since I learned about it as it is Convoy, but I thought the prices were too high for my taste back then, so when the reissue came I bought it, after the release of the reissue the prices of the vintage Star Convoy dropped significantly, to the point I thought it was worth getting, so I got the vintage for €250 unused in box (before the reissue that would cost at least €400 and in most cases closer to €600), we don't have a decent modern version of Star Convoy though, so I'm seriously considering getting him, I think I would have preferred this in the reissue colours though, it would have made him stand apart from the vintage toy a bit more, made him look a bit more premium, and the reissue honestly did look better in my opinion, I sold is only because I value vintage more than reissues because of their originality. So yeah, I'm seriously considering getting him, but there are a lot of things I want to get and I can't get everything, mostly due to budget restraints but also because my house doesn't grow with my collection (wouldn't that be nice?) The mainline Powermaster Optimus Prime was too ugly, I didn't get that, but I did look for the Japanese version at the time, I didn't find one though, so I did get MPG-09, and I'll probably get Godbomber too, I have a vintage Godbomber, but he doesn't fit with the Masterpiece, I don't think the Godbomber is necessary to relive my childhood, but it is a nice addition.
It was an easy pass for me and even my friend, just as you said he looks cheap and hardly worth the Titan slot. Should have just been made a leader with a robot and alt mode only.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder Damn, and my thought was "wow, the photography on these is so bad they look like my photos - wait a second - these _are_ my photos!" You're telling me there isn't a Seibertron gallery for this toy? Their pictures are way better.
Truth be told, I just googled "Star Convoy G1", found nice pics and grabbed the side name for attributing them in the video. I only really started using Seibertron while putting together the Rodimus video, TFWiki.net is always my first port of call for pics.
If they do, I think they need to look at Armada for how to price them. If we use current DLX as a baseline, a 25% price increase from the Siege Micromasters for 1 more toy would approximate Armada's price points with inflation. It's not a massive reduction in cost per Minicon, but perceived value is very important.
I don't mind Hasbro bringing out this toy. I just wish it wasn't one of the Thirteen Primes. I would have liked to see a completely new Prime in that slot, and maybe not at that size. Maybe Zeta Prime would do, he's never had a toy.
Going to be honest, the Thirteen Primes stuff Aaron made up never did it for me. I'll pick up The Fallen / Megatronus because I like the design, but I've honestly never enjoyed the idea of Transformers being technological lifeforms birthed of Primus. I think if you go down that angle, Go-Bots did it a lot better with the brains of the organic lifeforms being transferred to the machine bodies, but for Transformers, the robotic products of the Quintessons gaining sentience is far more interesting. I think there is a whole story waiting to be told there too.
I think the biggest issue with making a definitive 13th Prime is the name. Zeta is kinda mid and has already been established to be the name of a Prime who existed relatively recent to Optimus. The 13th needs to have a cool name.
@@SGD_ToysDownUndertwelveth prime retooled from this titan with god ginrai gauntlet and core class or deluxe optimus prime. Maybe convention or store exclusive.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder I can't agree with that one bit, I think the 13 backstory is far better imo, the Quintessons backstory is boring by today standard, I think the Quintessons work better in tf one where they are a empire that took control after the the primes died. I hope this didn't sound to rude or anything but gotta say it how I see it
As long as I get Sky Daddy and Grand Daddy with my Convoy, I'm down to clown. Then Hasbro can give me Big Powered. They can then do a $300 LioKaiser Haslab. Millhouse baby!
The problem with omega prime being a mainline release is that ultra magnus wouldn't sell well, and hasbro can only release one commander per year, at least one per toyline, so they start with prime right? Sells well whatever, but ultra magnus given his design and pricr, most people would rather ignore it and stay with only Optimus, thats a wasted commander spot right there, besides, the commander doesnt guarantee it could come with that much paint or details the haslab provides, its better this way i think, you get the whole package in one go and hasbro doesn't gamble with the sales of ultra Magnus
I don't buy that. Hasbro took a gamble with Magmatron, an incredibly obscure character in the west, at Commander Class. Not only has Ultra Magnus as a name been successful at Commander Class, SS86 sold extremely well, but Car Robots / RiD was localised and did serve to revitalise the brand a bit after Beast Machines. Ultra Magnus would have at the very least done better than Magmatron and likely Rodimus Prime.
I agree I saw star convey and my first thought was "WHY NOT HAVE THIS AS A HASLAB" I rather pay 750 for a haslab toy that actually should have been titan class toy then 350 for star convey which should have been a haslab I feel star convey won't sell as much as hasbro think. Again c9mpare omega to star and it day and night you got a popular character as a limit toy and a toy only popular to a small group as a most likely shelf warmer. This is one choice I think hasbro drop the ball
Car Robots has gotten screwed imo. Laser Prime is good, but could be better and that affects Black Convoy. Fire Convoy and God Magnus should have been retail, one year after another. Speedbreaker / Sideburn is an abysmal toy, probably one of the worst of recent memory, and both uses of the mold are disappointing at best.
Easy pass for me. This version of prime has always felt over detailed to me and loses a lot of the original character personality. To the point I originally thought it was a knock off when I first saw the design. If I want a supped up prime Powermaster/apex armour suits my needs nicely.
Over detailed? Wym? And honestly I do want power master Optimus/god ginrai he’s so cool(that one feels over detailed haha but I like em)🙏🏻but this is imo also a cool choice and I’m a fan of the character lore wise haha and doing well yourself goat?

This thing looks like a basics / childrens titan, and the Alt mode is atrociously right there as well.
