It amazes me that you wouldnt include the obvious fact that the "Roman Salute" has never been documented at all throughout Roman History. The salute was portrayed in a French artwork from the 18th century and then depicted in movies thereafter. Never has it been accurately portrayed in Roman culture.
Something happy for those of you struggling. I got a puppy and named him nougat. He was found in a dump and will never not have a house so long as i can help it.
I am an army civilian who was supposed to start my new position next week. I just received a message that because of Trump’s executive order freezing all federal hiring, all EODs are frozen. NO ONE is allowed to start ANY empty or new position because of this freeze due to the lack of clarity from the executive order. Fortunately, I still have a job and they’re just going to extend my current fellowship. But many other people are not so lucky and will likely have to wait without pay even after leaving their jobs. I have tied up my lose ends in preparation for my new position. This freeze is literally keeping me from doing my new job while trying to find menial things to do in my old position. In other words, it has created a swamp and I am in it, wasting taxpayer dollars, being prevented from doing the job I’m supposed to do. This is the opposite of efficiency. And this is expected to last 90 DAYS. Imagine people who have already left their jobs to start a new one having to go 79 days without a salary or insurance.
Five topics to fix society via discussion: -Anti-natalism vs Natalism -The 3 basic needs/prenatal needs Three things necessary for human evolution that are provided while in the womb which are; food, shelter and medical care. -Platinum rule Do whatever makes one happier unless it interferes with another persons ability to do the same. -MBTI (research yours and connect with others) -Art (pick one and get better at it!)
Wouldn't that be excluded because it is military? It sounds like they are just doing it because they aren't clear about it and sounds more like their fault for being unwilling to get in trouble or force clarification. But I mean let's be serious who is surprised his ideas are generally bad for people. All I can say is, serves you right for working for the government, and serves you right for expecting ANYTHING different or better from them. Like not only is your salary going to be held every time the government shuts down, BUT you're also going to be part of the machine constantly failing people every day. Endless bureaucratic hell is your reward for working for the government instead of doing something to make the world a better place.
well with no context sure. but he literally grabs his heart and is doing a gesture of throwing it to the people and he says “my heart goes out to you.” if you think that has “fascist intent” you might be more on the spectrum than he is.
Here's the butt of it, whether intentional or not, Elon's salute absolutely generated shock but whats worse is it garnered praise from actual nazi sympathizers. The fact Elon didn't try to immediately distance himself or condemn THAT to a degree that would make him look non-sympathetic, but rather play defense is in fact what makes people think he was more intentional with his salute. For a man chronically online and owns his own social media company, he really doesn't has an excuse
Your completely right. But where were you when both of the clintons, harris, obama, and bush did that? I didnt hear it then so i dont wanna hear it now.
I think its more a case of someone with extremely poor self control and autism.. who also happens to be a huge narcissist and "troll". I would find it very strange if he did it "by accident".. But I dont think he did it as a genuine "Im a nazi" gesture... Imo its a case of "haha Im gonna do this thing on stage and piss off a bunch of people, that way I will look cool to my followers"
I've heard a lot of concern coming from Germans in particular, and really, if the Germans are telling us it looks and sounds a whole lot like fascism, I feel like we should listen...
I think we are being naive that more people don’t know what they’re doing full well. I think some of us need to get over the collective shock that yes, some of your neighbors are bigots and would. They’ve been preying on this politeness for years.
The other thing that really bugs me with the subscription thing is when companies charge a subscription, but they don't provide any kind of ongoing service that justifies continued payment. Like, if they're doing some kind of data analysis on servers, I get it, they need to keep the data center running. But like BMW charging a subscription for heated seats, that just disables basic hardware that you already own, that's some DBotD material.
The most baffling thing i've seen about this must nazi salute is people saying "no it's not, he's just got poor judgment" if he is known for his poor judgment then why do you want him in such a position of power?!
If this had been some blue collar average Joe doing this would there any question at all as to what it is? In fact I'm certain he would have been charged wth some kind of hate crime
Can you help me I don’t like Elon or trump but I don’t think it was the nazi salute. I thought you kind of have to hold your hand in the air for longer for it to be the nazi salute. Given the context of what he did and what he said “I’m giving my heart to you” I don’t think he was doing that.

Giving the guy who said he loves firing people the authority to fire up to 50,000 people solely on the grounds that you disagree with him is terrifying.
How did u felt with a president persecuting their political rivals and throwing charges that almost never get enforced in hopes to detail their political career?
Trump never heard of or read Project 2025, but he's doing a great job implementing the policies it outlined before even enjoying his first Presidential Big Mac.
exactly. if he's "a friend to the jews", why doesnt he say that? he defended himself against people who said he was botting diablo, but he's suddenly silent about this? he's an extremely opinionated person with a huge ego, there's no way he would let people think he was a nazi if he wasn't one
Yep, if it was truly accidental he should apologize but he hasn’t. He knew what he did, plus given he believes in the white replacement theory, antisemitic thoughts and the far right AfD party in Germany. I mean come on this isn’t rocket science.
never apologise for things you didn't do, gives these psychos validation for their accusation "I've accused you of this respond!" "You have to engage with me!" Elon....anyways.
I am willing to believe that Musk's gesture may have been a mistake. But, if you are allowed so close to the president as to be in such a position where you can address the entire nation, you'd think that of all the mistakes he could have made this one is a simple one to avoid. The fact that he's doubling down, mocking the people criticizing him says even more. "I realize during the speech I made a gesture which resembled a nazi salute. It was an accident but I apologize for the concern I have caused and will be more conscious moving forward", is how a conscience adult would respond. Let alone someone who's so closely associated with the office that is responsible for protecting all Americans.
As an autistic person, I've never been told "Nazi saluting" would be one of my symptoms. Strange to have never seen it in the DSM-5 Edit to add: as someone with ASD, I have had hand jerking motions before. It's very common, but even if it's not, it's not that simple for me to compare my autism to anyone else's. Everyone's different. That's where the "spectrum" part comes from. I'm not saying Musk wouldn't do hand jerking motions, but even if it's completely accidental, we should not tolerate this kind of behavior because of whatever inherit bias we have. Whether accidentally or on purpose, he did the salute. Full stop This kind of enabling is going to send the wrong precedent to autistic people on top of the blatant racism
@@gracelovely3838it used to be - well at least in the DSM-4 which I assume he was going off of. In the DSM-5 it was merged with other Autistic conditions and is now an outdated term. And as a fellow Autistic person, I also didn't know that was a diagnostic criteria as well!
I keep seeing this line and it's an obvious misunderstanding of the claim. They're not saying he did a Nazi salute because he's autistic. He did an innocent hand gesture in an awkward way, perhaps due to autism making him awkward with his hand movements on stage.
personal anecdote about the birth right citizenship discussion: my dad is a Trump voter and today told me he hoped the conservative courts would shut Trump down here even if they agree with him because the president shouldn't be able to change the constitution. He then cited the 2nd amendment as something that could be at risk in the future if this precedent is set....
Well, unfortunately for him, his president wants to be able to shred the constitution. Be sure to remind him whenever you can that thats what he voted for everytime he complains about anything
As an autistic, if I were to ever "accidentally" Nazi salute, i would immediately notice and go off on a 20min, non-interruptable apology/ explanation that goes on way too long and reduces me to a rocking puddle on the floor. Mans knew what he was doing. Demanding our attention. (...with an out.)
Absolutely, plus the fact that the full video shows him doing a completely normal gesture for showing appreciation/gratitude/heart going out! He shows in the same damn speech that he knows the difference
Definitely same. Also as an autistic person, if I’m doing any kind of posture besides t-rex arms, I have likely borrowed that from watching someone else do what I’m doing and trying to copy them because how else do I know where my arms go?
Same. Even if I didnt notice right away, as soon as someone said something I would be profusely apologizing and would be so ashamed. Accidents happen but how he responded and his lack of an apology says a lot.
Why should he apologize for somthing he didn't do? Because of the hurt feeling of paranoid far letys? If you see Nazis even on your own shadow that is your problem.
If he did it once before leaving the stage and then immediately had said online that it was meant to be a gesture of “giving his heart out to people” when accusations started, then I might have accepted the autism excuse.
Yeah intentional or not, autism or not, I think he should put out some statement if he hasn't already. I feel like its the most sensible way move forward
The context of him promoting and agreeing with Nazi propaganda is the context I need to know Elon Musk is a Nazi. Defenders are nazis or useful idiots.
Just a reminder. Musk is a 53 year old man. So anyone going "He did it in a moment of enthusiasm" is giving a whole lot of "he's got his whole life ahead of him, don't let one little mistake ruin his future" energy.
And he did it twice. Once? Maybe I could give him a side eye and a sneer. Twice? That was on purpose. That was a Nazi salute, repeated, on purpose. Not a fleeting moment of autistic enthusiasm (which is a TERRIBLE take, since I, an autistic woman, have NEVER thrown a Nazi salute in a moment of enthusiasm)
It obviously was not meant to be a Nazi salute… I’m not a musk fan but things like this are why mainstream media is losing credibility. These type of things are bad for both parties
Trump enacting the order for the hiring freeze invalidated two different tentative job offers I got in the government that I waited *months* to get. I cannot be more heartbroken right now.
Same, and the fact that now we have to 90 days to try again or in the IRS's case, potentially 4 years, just really makes everything really, really, shitty right now. Not sure what to do next but I guess we can only take it day by day for now.
Even if you give Elon Musk the utmost benefit of the doubt that he was just trying to do a "my heart goes out to you" gesture or whatever, the proper response to it is not "come on this hitler stuff is so tired". If you accidentally perform a gesture that reasonably appears as a Nazi salute _twice_ at a _presidential inauguration_ the reasonable, good-faith response is "oh my god that's not what I meant I'm so sorry oh my god, I'm so embarrassed that I did that" or something along those lines.
Because he's always expected to apologize for something that someone in the world was offended by. It's clear that that's not what he was doing. But people run with this because it adds clicks or it aligns with their agenda to attack Musk.
@learning_the_hard_way man you "people" defending musk are really just some pathetic trash, defending apartheid loving nazis... what a pathetic waste your life must be
I am autistic. I am also not stupid. If you are functioning well enough to live on your own, manage a company, marry, and raise children, you are also sound enough to know good from pure evil. I hope I never have to be compared to that rotten man ever again. Do not infantilize autistic people. Do not fall for gaslighting and misinformation campaigns. Do not excuse fascism in any way, shape or form.
The fact that he's on that stage alone, is evidence he SHOULD be aware of what kind of gesture he's making. The more you think about it, the worse it looks. It's one of the most prolific gestures of all human history. He did it identical to Hitler, an impassioned hand flying out from the right arm(same arm). During a pre written speech. TWICE. He either knew exactly what he's doing, or shouldn't be living on his own, like you said. Let alone running companies, and in charge of governmental agencies tasked with gutting all social services. I think it's pretty reasonable to insist that the person in charge of closing down all our national parks, know what a Nazi salute is, and not repeatedly do it. Big ask for 2025 I guess, but I'm standing by it. And on a side note, and this is just my theory, I think he did it as a bet. Someone bet him to make a Nazi salute. That's why he looked so nervous before hand. I wont speculate who, but if it were another world leader it would not surprise me.
Elon is a grown ass adult who knows exactly what he’s doing. Those trying to point the finger at ASD are trying to minimize what he’s been highlighting for YEARS now.
Stop connecting it to autism, that's fucking insulting. Being on the spectrum doesn't make you a nazi. It doesn't make you racist, sexist, or any other vile thing. I can quickly and easily prove that he knew exactly what he was doing and meant it and here's how: if he accidentally did that gesture without realizing what it was, he would have come out with an apology the same day, condemning the people that are applauding it and apologizing for not recognizing the harm that sort of symbol causes. Because that's what any non-nazi would do.
I’m just exhausted. It’s so demoralizing, and I feel like I’m on the verge of shutting down and ignoring everything. But I know ignoring it will only make things worse. It’s a lose-lose, and I’m just so tired.
Same here, and my family is about to be homeless through this. I have an autistic adult son I can't get ANY help for because they say he's able bodied but he can't wear pants, he can't follow instructions, he moves so slow... I can't even leave him alone but he's supposed to work. But one thing I know for sure. He still has the sense to know what that man did because he called it the minute he saw it. He said OMG mom did he just do a nazi sign? And then OMG AGAIN? The price of rentals is so high now even with a full time job and working these clickwork jobs online at night I can't afford anything. I don't know what we're going to do, and now this most horrific nightmare is coming true, but the trolls are coming here telling us to stop exaggerating and calm down and stop looking at the news because it's all "fake".
Their strategy is called the Fabian strategy and its a military tactic used against Hannibal. A sloooow war of attrition. They KNOW they can't win a real debate because 90% of conservative 'facts' are just made up. The most efficient way to defend against it is to force them to double down until they get mad then when they 'attack' you you pull back and call them soft-skinned snowflakes. Technically, under Trumps birthright order Melania, their kids and Musk would be deported if it actually goes through
I'm a mining geologist, I've not seen the current oil amounts used, vs amounts estimated, vs low quality estimates. But I am in mining. There are mines and oil reserves, that are included in the "amount available" Forcasting, that absolutely will never be fucking touched unless the cost to pull out of the ground, is less that X value. Which means things must cost more, in order for those sources to be tapped. Cheap gas doesn't mean we drill more.
As a green card resident about to have a daughter, it is actually my worst nightmare to have her go through the fundamentally broken immigration system from birth.
I’m sorry. My wife is a green card holder and we are more and more relieved we decided not to pursue having children. I really hope things work out for you guys.
I apologize so profusely. I’m a mix of indigenous and Euro-mutt blood and I still don’t feel like this is the country I was raised with pride for but unfortunately it is. I promise that I will use my voice to try and make that not the case for your kiddo. No mama should feel this. :(
Dude.. this doesn't affect us.. this is only for illegals. If youre not a legal resident or an American citizen then your newborn child will not be an American citizen. If youre an american citizen or a legal resident of the US then the kid will be an American citizen.
Jewish political organizer with autism here. I've been involved with autistic communities, Jewish communities, and movements to confront white supremacy most of my adult life. I've never seen someone with autism accidentally make a "Roman salute." There's also a very well-documented history of the ADL defending anti-Semites and besmirching Jews when either action supports Zionism. Musk's ant-Semitism is also well-documented. Phil, you've covered it plenty. Believe what you see, not the spin.
And you never had your arm go in a direction you didn't tell it to? Do you really have Autism or just claiming it to explain your own personal failures?
"This is a fork in the road for human civilization." On that point, Mr. Musk, you and I are in complete agreement. We are now entering a post-truth, post-fact, post-conscience, post-consequence era of American politics. And you helped usher it in.
America has always been a post sequences era of American politics. The genocides committed by this country, like with the American Indians, has been tossed under the rug and ignored through the white washed lense of "manifest destiny"
That was such an ominous thing to say, when you know everyone is concerned about our descent into fascism. Like he's gaslighting the public on purpose, instead of reassuring us. I wonder if he had "do Nazi salute twice" written on his speech cards, or he was just freestyling the second one.
@@dishonoredundead'Our descent into Fascism' is nothing more then you gaslighting yourselves. When you people call everything and everyone who doesn't agree with you a fascist, an -ist and a -phobe. Dont expect anyone to continue listening to you.
This makes me want to cry. My wife was recently diagnose with fairly significant autism after a long and scary time of not knowing what was wrong. She has come a long way in overcoming the general anxiety about what people might think or how they might treat her if she's honest about why she struggles in the ways she does. This universal justification of not just the salute but much of Elon's crappy treatment of others as "it's not his fault he's autistic" (the recent stuff around Neil Gamin is also a contributing factor here) has undone months of learning to feel safe opening up to people and not constantly worrying that they assume bad things about her because of it.
Neil Gamin? Elon Musk… dude you seriously need to shut the tv off and put the phone down. These people have no impact on your life you need to learn how to not focus on other people so much

Saying Elon Musk has no effect on our lives when he is in the president’s back pocket is extremely misguided and naive. The environmental impacts of his companies not following regulations because he can just pay his way out of legal trouble has been affecting us for years. Instead of telling this person what they should do and how they should feel, maybe just listen.
He had his thumb tucked in when he made that gesture. That does not, in any way, come across as a heart goes out gesture. He made that gesture with his whole damn chest. There's no mistaking what that gesture was.
If you genuinely think that was a nazi salute, then your brain will never ever recover from whatever it is you're suffering from. Please never have children 👌
If you genuinely think that, after watching what he said - the "heart goes out" part, filled with genuine love and appreciation - then he is not the problem here.
It makes me so angry that people are pushing this onto him being neurodivergent. So much nuance that goes into it but mainly 1) being neurodivergent doesn’t excuse bigotry or a blatant Nazi salute, 2) this argument infantilizing neurodivergent people in a harmful way that perpetuates stereotypes, and 2) no one should be diagnosing Elon with anything/he hasn’t come out with his own diagnosis (not that he owes one but still)
I need to beg of you, Phil.... it's only Day 2 of 1461 of this. PLEASE throw in a "bamf of the day" or good news story to the show. We need hope. I already can't breathe.
My mother has been a partial remote federal employee for 15 years in a total career of 30 years. The fact that she may be forced into the office 5 days a week arbitrarily under the guise of "efficiency" is absurd.

Truthfully, I would love an 1 hour+ long video of Phil covering just the executive orders. Or a long stream. He explains them in a way that makes them digestable, and does not make it sound all doom and gloom.
Trump was signing orders with an entire press corp. It was live. I believe it’s an hour long and they explain nearly every EO he signed. Some frustrating parts of the video, but they went through it all.
Phil, I am autistic (we actually don’t use the term Asperger’s anymore, but that’s its own can of worms), and I can’t express how aggravating it is to see people try to use autism as an excuse for Elon’s inexcusable behavior, especially this most recent stunt. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing, otherwise he would, you know, actually apologize. At the very least, actual Nazis certainly have no doubt that he meant it.
Honestly I’m feeling hopeless, I talked to my mom and her advice was “oh just ignore it it’s a bunch of crazy mess”. I know that I’m blessed to have that choice, but there are people who are directly affected by this.
yeah, having similar conversations with some of my family. its weird too because my gender identity is totally accepted by them, yet i still hear them talk positively of the things the Trump Admin wanna do to effect queer people. thinking im just seen as “one of the good ones”
I feel this exact same way, and I think a lot of us do. Regardless of how difficult this is, we will live to fight back against it again. And this will end, believe that.
It’s hard when some of it can’t be ignored anymore. Chicago is supposed to be a haven city. Trump wants ICE to come in and take people who were born in the US but their parents were undocumented. If they make giving gender affirming care a federal crime then being in a blue state won’t protect your doctor from prosecution. If LA burns down next year because Trump refused to send firefighters while pumping even more CO2 into the air, then where do you run I think it’s important to try fighting every step of the way because the more we delay and hold things up in courts or in congress the less they can get done
I am exactly were you. I am also hopeless. Just the last 2 days lone sucked away all my hope that it will not become as bad as it possible could. All these executive orders anti democratic, anti environment, anti personal rights and freedoms, anti minorities, anti immigrants....and also watching people turning themselves into pretzels to not believe their lying eyes...I have no hope left.
The fact that the ADL is saying that all sides should give each other grace is wild. Nazis should NEVER be given grace. If they wish to recant their beliefs awesome but in no way, shape or form should they be met halfway or be allowed to "agree to disagree."

He's actively literally said "this is the truth" in responce to a guy going on an extremely anti-semetic rant on HIS social media platform. There is no "oh, he's just awkward cause he's on the spectrum". Being on the spectrum doesn't make you whip out a LITERAL NAZI SALUTE! This man is one of the richest people in the world, runs multiple buisinesses, has how many kids (genuinely I don't know, cause there's so many), but somehow, SOMEHOW, he doesn't realize how spready far-right fascist conspiracy theories, while doing something that looks almost identicle to a Nazi salute, might make people think he's doing a Nazi salute. I don't know what to say asides from your title of "Nazi or Autism" genuinely pisses me off.
Okay?? So the ADL disagrees. Despite the excellent work that they have done, they are not the final voice on these things. And let's say that they're right! I think the most telling part of Musk’s “gesture” is his lack of apology. That motion is undeniably, nearly identical to a fascist salute. In my opinion, nearly anyone who accidentally did that salute and was called out on it - who genuinely doesn’t believe any of the ideology behind it - would as soon as possible apologize for their mistake.
That’s what seals it for me. It’d be so easy to say “no it was a mistake, I hate Nazis and white supremacists and all they stand for” but then he’d lose a large part of his fan base :/
@@NaughtMax exactly, there is literally no reason to do the charade of “what do you mean?? It looks nothing like a Nazi salute! That’s preposterous!” Instead of “I was excited and did a gesture that heavily resembles a Nazi salute, I did not intend it in that way and I am sorry.”
Whatever the intention, the fact of the matter is he made a gesture that is almost 1:1 a Nazi salute. Saying people are using "Dirty tricks" because they're concerned about the imagery is so infantile. Really sad that this is even an argument, he should have apologized in the moment or shortly after. Unfortunately apologizing is "losing" in this day and age and we can't have our fragile ego's take a hit like that apparently.
So my dad is a gov contractor, and we lived in Fairfax when I was a kid. It is scary how incredibly easy it is to bribe and blackmail people with debt in the government service. On military bases, many folks and their spouses use slot machines and end up in severe debt. They used to check credit scores whenever your renewal came up, but they stopped that practice. So right now there is no way to curb poor spending habits.
@minramen When did they stop that? I don't have a clearance, but I've been interviewed for someone else's not that long ago, and one of the first questions they asked was if I knew of any debt the person had. They also asked about gambling and other addictions and if their spouse had any. Is that the extent of it now?
@draken1331 I believe so. From what I know, they used to check your credit score to make sure but they've stopped. I've never worked in sensitive areas though, so maybe they've reintroduced it.
Well let's be serious, it's probably a really easy way of funnelling bad information to foreign adversaries by orchestrating a fake gambling debt and just having the person pretend to give out state secrets. Really doesn't take a genius to figure out how we could use it to our advantage. Not something I would expect a government employee to figure out.

I feel like Elon really doesn’t get benefit of the doubt in this situation when he’s already really friendly with open Nazis and extremists. Like if it wasn’t someone with a history of retweeting and following Nazis I’d be more willing to consider it as an innocent mistake.
100% this. If he didn't have a history of _constantly_ emboldening the Far Right, White Supremacists, & Nazis via multiple different avenues, then there could be some room for leniency… but there's zero reason for him NOT to do it at a Trump rally which is already a hotbed of purposeful dog whistles when he knows he can get away with it.
Yeah, this comment basically touches on the correct topic. Everyone else seems to think (I doubt they actually do that tho) he intentionally did a salute, when it's pretty clear that was not what he meant by that motion. But the fact is that from what else we know about him, it feels like he absolutely _would_ make such a salute. So since he did something vaguely similar, they might as well pretend he did because they know it's not as if it would be incorrect. To give an awful analogy: It's sort of like seeing a gate with a padlock hanging in a way that doesn't secure the gate properly and a key hanging next to it, and when they go to try the key it doesn't fit. But hey, the gate wasn't properly locked anyway, so they decide to just open it and waltz in anyway.
as an autistic person, if i wanted to say my heart goes out to everyone, i'd say it at the same time as the gesture and my palm wouldn't be pointing at the floor. it'd probably be sideways, or maybe pointing up, but not downward. it feels like it was very much planned with the "my heart goes out" only there explicitly as a cover for what he just did.
I'm severely autistic. I promise you, I have never once felt the need to give a nazi salute to anyone in private or public. Getting real tired of autism being the scapegoat of every shitty person who is shitty for perfectly normal reasons of them just being shitty.
Maybe having a business man first as the president is not the best idea. It doesn't look like helping the commonwealth is his goal in anyway whatsoever. Sad.
I think with the Musk salute thing, the question shouldn't be "Was it or wasn't it the salute?", but rather "What does it change if it was?". We have seen for years, and especially in recent days, the kind of person Elon Musk is. We know what he's like and what he stands for. Maybe I've become jaded, but having him throw up a Nazi salute would be just another drop in the ocean of vile acts he's committed.
That's not really the point. We all know what kind of man he is, yes. But it's more important to always combat the propaganda coming from him and his supporters trying to re-frame what he did as something innocent and heartfelt, on top of people using autism as a shield from criticizing him. We're gonna have many more years of people like Musk trying to steal the narrative and we need to be prepared to combat that at every turn.
I think the change is how blatant it is and how they will be saying the quiet part out loud now. There isn't any time to work within the confines of law and government to stop it. They have the power now if we let them. Now it's just...what's that classic quote? They came for my neighbors and I said nothing? They came for my guns and I said nothing. They came for me and there was no one to defend me? That... that's what's gonna happen. If no one acts *now*, that's what's going to happen to us. That was the sign that no one was gonna do shit to stop him anymore. Because we aren't. We are just fucking sitting here talking about it.
You probably cannot even name any of the other supposed "vile" things he has done. Maybe your political opinions are not as important as you think they are.
@@chaucerianfraud6767 Sit your ass down and do some research then. His takeover of Twitter and making the hate speech, racism, and bot issue worse should be point number one.
no no no no.... yall need to stop. He knows EXACTLY what he is doing. Import tariffs will raise prices on MANY things by default, and the way capitalism works, companies are gonna add a little more to the price (past the amount from the tariff) to increase their profit margin (opportunism is the grease of the capitalist engine). This will, in turn, allow him/his companies to turn a larger profit. Not to mention kickbacks to him from the corps that these policies benefit. Nah this is 100% about increasing his own wealth. Literally every decision he makes has that one motivation. He is a phenomenal scammer.
@@kyleharrison2286 To be fair Biden didn't repeal any of his previous tariffs and increased one on Evs. it's protectionist propaganda and intentional inflation, not any private money making scheme. Tariffs make idiots think we're sticking it to imports and/or protecting american jobs and at the same time increase inflation, devaluing the dollar. A devalued dollar means it takes less real productivity to pay back securities. Every time the value of the dollar drops, the portion of GDP required to pay back federal debts goes down. It's at the expense of everyone in the country, but it sticks it to those mean folks that keep dropping the US's credit rating.
@@kyleharrison2286 I am with you on this. I can't help but feel he is using deliberate word choice when saying the people will not pay the taxes, other countries will, just as a distraction tactic. It's just another money redirection strategy and I hate it. Can't help but feel like he did this with his own companies as well...
The thing with dogwhistles is that plausible deniability. If he’d just done the salute and said something else, we’d have no arguments here. But he threw in that “my heart goes out to you” statement, which allows his supporters who aren’t nazis to justify it while allowing his supporters who are nazis to feel validated.
@@gemjarv That is literally EXACTLY what a dogwhistle is, by definition! I'm not sure if you know what words mean before you call them false but the whole point of calling it a DOG whistle is that only "dogs" can hear it,. ie: it is subtle enough that the only people who truly pick up on it are those in support of what it encourages, but also subtle enough that there is plausible deniability to anybody who calls it out for what it is. It's not mental gymnastics, you just don't know (or are willfully feigning ignorance like all of your types! ;D) what that word means.
I actually live stupidly close to Tysons and people have been trying to get a casino built somewhere in Fairfax County for years. I actually didn't realize the security clearance thing could be a complication, but it makes sense. North Virginia, especially that close to DC, has an INSANE number of federal workers. The I66, a highway that is a direct vein to and from Washington through Virginia, is practically a parking lot during rush hour. We're talking about anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes of a delay. Something you actually didn't mention is that Tysons is so tied into Washington DC that they actually have a metro stop on DC's metro line. Hell, the line stretches all the way past Dullas Airport now. It really does seem like a bad placement. Just imagine if there was a casino right next to the senate. They might just try slots rather than stocks.
This is literally the only news I watch at this point because it's so exhausting right now. I appreciate the concise way news is presented on this channel 🙏🏼
I've been watching FDF for so many years. I continue to do so because I get to understand what the religiously democrats views are. It's crazy useful, but no one person has it all right. everyone has their biases. Others who lived a slightly different life will have their biases. Maybe Elon has changed, he used to go to both Jewish and Christian schools when he was young, and he has a lot of Jewish friends. I don't buy it tho. Google people doing Nazi salutes. you'll see everyone and their mother at some point doing it likely by accident. Taylor Swift, Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, etc.
I don't think Musk's gesture was an awkward accident. Pundits can argue intent, whether it was an outright pro-Nazi salute, a dog whistle, an intrusive thought, a troll, or a poor way to signify 'My Heart Goes Out to You,' but what's more revealing is the crescendo of applause when he makes the gesture the first time and then as he repeats it. Because, at that moment, there is no context to provide an excuse, he says 'My heart goes out to you' AFTER he's made the gesture. So, a significant portion of the room full of the USA's most influential businesspeople and policy-makers had the knee jerk reaction to cheer harder when confronted with a gesture so embedded in Nazism that it's the second thing you imagine when someone says "Nazi." First Swastika, Second Salute, Third Reich.
When Trump won the election, I went through a major grieving process for myself and minority communities. Seeing and hearing what he has done and will most likely continue to do has left me in a perpetual cycle of rage and sadness and I'm afraid if I stop and think about it for too long, I will just break down. It's really hard to stay hopeful when you know family members have voted for this monster, defended his actions, and now he's going to make everything so much worse. I'm truly scared for what is going to happen next.
THis. soooo this. this response makes his victory worth it. He can fumble everything else, but just knowing that there are people like you who are completely distraught over it makes it worth it.

Uh huh, You do know that the Nazi salute STARTS with a fist and then ends in an open hand. If you think this is Nazi then you are clearly too stupid to be anything but a brainwashed Liberal.
Europe is in an especially precarious moment in time. they were on this road before trump came along. people do this salute quite regularly in Europe. But they don't make the mistake of thinking it might be ok. they do it with masks on in rallies.
To the point where either side will say “yeah well the other side is the one that doesn’t want to work with us.” The cognitive empathy is sorely lacking. By that I mean very few people seem to understand how and why others think a different way and how to navigate that in a conversation. The current tactic is to insist on one’s own perspective and shun anyone who doesn’t have it, completely flattening others’ thoughts for fear of rationalizing the other side. But that’s the thing: rationalizing (making sense of someone) isn’t the same as agreeing or even justifying. It’s simply noticing the logic by which another person operates and being able to navigate within that space. You can still keep your own values and beliefs. But that’s the thing takes time and practice and a certain level of openness and reasoning that the left and right, for all of their bragging, don’t actually have or they’d realize this already.
They're giving more leeway for nuance on this than the OK sign which is just absurd. AOC is right, this should be the nail in the coffin regarding their legitimacy.
Not really. Trump and Elon now heavily support Israel. The ADL has a history of abandoning other principles to work for support of Israel and it's needs (like spying on American Jews to aid in support of Israel and in the 80's Apartheid South Africa). So that they would give him a pass isn't surprising, at least unless he goes against Israel.

I don't understand how people are so biased, it's wild. Elon sucks, he's a miserable loser of a human being, but how on Earth are you going to sit there and tell me that was a Nazi salute? He said "My heart goes out to you", placed his hand over his left breast - his heart - then gestured like he was throwing his heart out to the crowd. Then he turned and repeated that SAME process, putting his hand over his heart, making a fist like he was grabbing it, then sticking his arm out and opening his hand like he was throwing it into the crowd. I think that should be fairly clear that he was not intending to do a Nazi Salute, he just wasn't thinking how it would look. And I hate him. Focus on all the VERY, VERY MANY real things to hate about him and talk about those. We don't need to try and wrongly interpret things like this.
I was getting a job in the government, but thats gone now, the pausing of hiring for public workers basically nulled out my application for the time being.

Elon was DEFINITELY doing a roman salute. I know a lot of autistic people, many are close friends. Autism doesn't make you do a H!TLER salute instead of a reaching out from the heart gesture. If it was actually an awkward gesture, why didn't he say something about it? N@zis praised him for it - why didn't he condemn them or try to distance himself from them?

I dont think people care about a salute anymore...Neither do i think extending your arm in such a manner automatically makes you a nazi.
Maybe learn something about any history other than the period everyone talks about.
Because he's always expected to apologize for something that someone in the world was offended by. It's clear that that's not what he was doing. But people run with this because it adds clicks or it aligns with their agenda to attack Musk.

Oh brother
You're so full of turd.

What changed for me is largely due to the way people reacted to it.
If that is acceptable in any circles, the danger is becoming real.
I'm starting to think that Trump is ACTUALLY too stupid to understand tariffs.
Starting?
Only starting?
no no no no.... yall need to stop.
He did this EXACT thing before with the border wall that he insisted was necessary and saying we are not paying for it as the people and that another country will pay. It's just another money redirection strategy and I hate it. Can't help but feel like he did this with his own companies as well...
Believe your eyes the first time
The thing with dogwhistles is that plausible deniability. If he’d just done the salute and said something else, we’d have no arguments here. But he threw in that “my heart goes out to you” statement, which allows his supporters who aren’t nazis to justify it while allowing his supporters who are nazis to feel validated.
And the gold medal for mental gymnastics goes to… checks notes.. you
@@gemjarv That is literally EXACTLY what a dogwhistle is, by definition!
Thing about conspiracy theories is it checks all your boxes without requiring any actual proof
And he cut that image out of his video on X, showing the crowd while he salutes.

"They're targeting people who disagree with them!" They say as they target the people who disagree with them. Interesting

FYI I don't ascribe to a tribe of politics. I'm not American. Just enjoying the show.
So, a significant portion of the room full of the USA's most influential businesspeople and policy-makers had the knee jerk reaction to cheer harder when confronted with a gesture so embedded in Nazism that it's the second thing you imagine when someone says "Nazi." First Swastika, Second Salute, Third Reich.
exactly
the "my heart goes out to you" has the same energy as "Lets Go Brandon". They are REALLY bad at "codes" lmfao

How to rule the people, make sure they’re divided.
Seriously. Both sides are guilty of doing this and it's getting old.
Divide and conquer.
@@adamsmiths3016 One side wants to do nazi shit. it's not an equal "both sides" thing. Wake up.
You are starting to understand. This is how the two party system works. Dems do it. Reps do it.
You guys are crazy. Literally, "My heart goes out to you!" He grabbed his chest and threw his heart out to the crowd.
The ADL response to the salute is so crazy
They're giving more leeway for nuance on this than the OK sign which is just absurd. AOC is right, this should be the nail in the coffin regarding their legitimacy.
Specially considering they've gone after people for much less.

Let's not infantalise autism, or blame his ASD. He knew what he was doing and I have no idea, why people are defending him. Especially with his right wing ties.
Basically: blame it on the 'ism, not the' tism.

But blaming his autism on two Nazi salutes is just lame, especially when he'd been hanging out with far right groups. Once, maybe I could put that down to bad luck and some random arm waving. But twice? Nope, definitely not.

And with his prior history, it just doesn't make sense for it to be anything but innocent.
