    This was super helpful. The workbook that we are using for our course literally just says "build a sheet template".

    Thanks for this video (and Part II). It's really helpful.
    Adding constraints to the border is easy enough when you only have the simple, four-point border. Setting up a double-line border with zone markers (as per BS EN ISO 7200) on the full range of sheet sizes (A4 to A0) is tedious and error-prone. The A0 sheet alone requires selection and fixing of around 80 points! Why on earth doesn't this border default to fixed? It should at least be an option.

    Hey man, do you know of a decent course for solidworks that I can do? I currently use it but am self taught and often do things the hard way and back to front, I have to charge half the rate because I take so long.

    When drawing the title block, how do you make a hidden dimension visible again, say if you want to change it?

    • @hawkridgesystems
      @hawkridgesystems  Рік тому +1

      In the menu bar, select View > Hide/Show > Annotations, and you will see the ghosted dimensions available to select to restore visibility.

    HOW DO YOU SHOW THE DIMENSIONS AGAIN??? THE SETTINGS ARE DIFFERENT IN EDIT SHEET FORMAT.

    • @hawkridgesystems
      @hawkridgesystems  3 роки тому +1

      You can show the hidden dimensions by going through the pull down menus and selecting View -> Hide/Show -> Annotations.
      The hidden dimensions will be shown in a gray color, click on them to unhide them.

      Hello @HawkRidgeSystems: Wouldn't it be easier in your demo to have created a new separate layer for the titleblock dimensions and hidden them by layer? That would have been more consistent than simply hiding the dimensions, given that you had already instructed the users to place border and titleblock on separate layers.
      BTW, you deserve a medal for these videos on creating custom sheet format & drawing template - yours are by far the most complete, thorough, logical and easy to understand videos on this topic. Many thanks!

    Hi! Cool tip to set dimensions and then hide them. I used to simply delete them... But do you know how to unhide them in case you wanna change something? thx

    • @hawkridgesystems
      @hawkridgesystems  3 роки тому +2

      Good question! You can show the hidden dimensions with View -> Hide/Show -> Annotations. The hidden dimensions will be shown in a gray color, click on them to unhide them. Following the process in this video, you would also need to "Edit Sheet Format" first before showing the annotations.

    When I select to sketch a line from the border the entire border is highlighting and not allowing a constraint. How do you fix that?

    Is there a possibility to you guys make a video of importing an template from Autocad. Once I have tried but I don’t know why all my entities changed its size.

    • @hawkridgesystems
      @hawkridgesystems  4 роки тому +1

      We will add this to our list of topics for future videos! One quick thing to check would be - are you sure you had the correct scale settings on the import? By default it is set to millimeters. It's also important to choose correct paper size and sheet scale.

    • @o3024
      @o3024 4 роки тому

      I checked it. But it didn’t work. Someone told me for some reason 1 SolidWorks’s milimiter is equal to 1.002 mm in Autocad or something like that.

    How much more different is this compared to the functions of ver 2014?

    • @hawkridgesystems
      @hawkridgesystems  3 роки тому

      It should be a very similar process. The only major difference would be lack of "Automatic Border" tool shown at 3:15 which was added in 2016 version.
      In 2014 you'll have to manually sketch the border of the sheet, using a similar process to what we did to construct the title block.
      The prompt when linking custom properties to notes may also look slightly different.
