Tempo Australia In The Seventies

- Опубліковано 18 січ 2012
- As Australia Day 2012 approaches we look back to an Australia of 40 years ago. A "futuristic" computer centre assumes the task of collecting information on Australia, and assembling a report. The audience sees and hears the report as it issues from the computer by means of audio-visual images of Australia in the seventies. The film was made to inform a sophisticated audience about what is happening in Australia now, and what is likely to happen in the next decade. Through the computer's TV monitor the viewer participates in a thorough dissection of Australia: the country , the people, the mood of the times in which we live.

I miss this Australia..
2020 even worse. Makes 2012 look good.
@@thelifeofmatt8597 exactly matt.
That is hands down the strangest AUS doco ever. Love it
Yep - it's an interesting one.
Not just the strangest, but by far the best doco on the land of Oz I've ever seen!
how about documentaries about skylab landing on the FLAT as a pancake nullabor plain in 1977. and people beleived it. same year starwars was released. #glowballism
"Peter, Keith get in here, I want you to write me a script about Australia and Australians.
You must never use the word "the" or "and", never use any plurals, adjectives or any personal pronouns."
Australia in the 70's i remember it well.
Fast Foward 2012
Manufacturing - non existent!
Agriculture - Not profitable (Thanks Coles and Woolworths)
Sadly, Australia looks nothing like this today.
Natural beauty - Tarnished
Housing - unreachable goal
Car industry - Gone
Cultural relations - Turbulent
I agree Australia appears to have taken a giant step backwards
And now 2021 due to coronavirus - people are waking up to just how un-self reliant we’ve become, more Agriculture students signing up to University than they’ve had in decades, 🙏🏽 for the turn back in time..

What a nice watch :) Good music too! Thanks for uploading these
Our pleasure!
Today, basically manufacturing is just called 'Made in China' :)
Great documentary!
"Desert...climatic extreme. Snowfields...climatic extremes 'Stubbies' shorts and Bali shirt...Fashion EXTREMES!"
The last Aussie decade.
Scomo?
Way better back then check out Souths and Manly ,when Australia was Australia
I bet the voiceover guy does the robot dance very well.
this is great
Music : Grahame Bond , Rory O Donoghue .
Your can certainly see Peter Weir's influence coming through in the production. At 18:10 I never thought I would ever see "Titties and Beer" in a nfsa film. I guess the influence of "the pill" had really changed and influenced community views and standards by 1971.
Different times for sure.
Yep and the film is all the better for it
As a indigenous man.. We have finally go to be free pass to live... But over development has stuffed up the land... hard to catch a fish these days.
Every thing is Centralized now, but some people are going back to the country places, looking like the system is failing... so Communities will probably come to life again making things local like the old days.
And now after the horrendous bush fires of 2020 they’re starting to realise that it’s the Aboriginals traditional burning that maintained the health of the land, plants and trees, kept the animal kingdom and people safe 🙏🏽💛❤️🖤
@@heatherhall3452 Fire stick farming has done more damage to this land than any machine ever could. Stop being delusional.
There's no Audio,!!!!?
Lol love it
It's like an app game, life, you open a game app, like Lillie's garden, township, you start small and build, 🤔
At 3:33 you can see how this film predicted the pauses in digital video buffering.
Damm. 1971 Adelaide was same population as Brisbane and ahead of Perth. Fast forward 50 yrs and Perth is nearly equal to Brisbane and a million in front of Adelaide
How did all that work out?
What happened? You Aussies had it all, all you needed to do was show a little fighting spirit.
she's right mate.
We started catering to every winging minority group - we tried to hard to be politically correct - we let politicians and so called experts tell us how to raise our children and what gender they could be - and the rest my friend is history 👍
Politicians wrecked it.
@gusruth Very true. What are we going to do when it all runs out?
Iv noticed because of mass Immigration Australia accent has changed.
And the fishing 🎣 heaps could be caught.
"Future unknown" well where are we now I ask the question?

9:31 - you've got vintage footage of surfing! Have you got it anywhere else? I'll take just plain surf *culture* if you've got it! (vintage, of course)

Lilac Milkshake / yer i was trying to identify the lads surfing, thought one was Terry Fitzgerald ?
They actually managed to shoot people who could surf too. Most camera operators had no idea what to shoot in those days,
The making of this documentary would be as interesting as the documentary itself...... Actually probably considerably more interesting..... How big was the team? And where are they now? They should be setting up a podcast
Now days. can’t afford to own a
house.
Back in those days they used to say two thousand million.
xmas 2023 and we have 2 wars ....
Skipped over Darwin, Southerners never change 😂
Now our culture and country Are gone!!!

Potential - Still Enormous if Gillard and Bob Brown are out.
I was born when this film was released. Today's population's over 29 million; it can't compare to that of California in U.S., where it has over 40 million.
Yep, & I hope we never do either.

2020 analysis Australia fucked.
Anyone else disturbed by the scene of the little girls singing and dancing?....I remember the open and excepted sleazyness of middle aged men towards little girls. Fuckin yuck!...things are worse in some ways but I don't miss that
Yes I said to myself- why were their dresses so short even though I remember wearing short dresses back then, to look at it now it’s horrifying how short they were and nobody suspected a thing 🤢🤮 putrid peddos
oh yeah now dudes are getting me too'ed everywhere lol... much better.
okay okay... we have to pay for the entitled old farts of the past lol... funnily enough a lot of them are still around you know...
And now girls just want to exploit themselves on tic tok. But hey blame the men
When 98% of people were thin . Now it's only 19%. What the fuck happened ??????
McDonald’s. KFC. Dominoes.
Yep. Good old Australia. Rip it down, dig it up and sell it. Rip it down, fatten them up, sell 'em. Rip it down, shoddily build it up, you guessed it...sell it. No thoughts for the future. This country is fucked!!
The comments are hilarious, rose tinted glasses looking back thinking the past is always better.

Where did it all go so horribly wrong? Things were great then.😥
Get a haircut from the Postman!
...or go to Mount Colah NSW LPO to buy drugs! They don't call them the LOST classics for nothing!
its got better!
Not the same any more, it's gone to the shit house, the land of the rich and very poor
Thank god Australia doesn't look like this today, much more opportunity and progress with a more open view of the world. Not the backward isolated less educated behind the times land it once use to be. Keep up the good progress Australia!
Less educated??/heh..ooook..
Now September 2019. Limited electricity. No heavy [or light] industry, all consumer goods imported from you know where. Universities degraded. Degraded primary and secondary education. SJWs trying to run the show. Economy still depends on mining and agriculture. Keep up the "good" progress Australia.
