- The poor guy running is trying catching the Celebrity Eclipse just after it left its last port of St. Kitts. Everybody felt pretty bad for him, he would have to make his own way to Miami. Deeply satisfying to see someone who has inconvenienced others being inconvenienced.
scha·den·freu·de

pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune.
This is the reason I get the balcony room... I've never been CLOSE to being late for the boat. If I'm not a half hour early, I am running late. But watching pier runners is truly one of the most fun parts of cruising. It would be even better if the ships left on time.
When you're the only person out of an entire cruise ship of people, who didn't make it back on time, you have to know you're the problem.
And yet, it still goes over many people's heads.
We watched a mother and daughter at the Mallorca pier screaming for the ship to "Come back". That evening we found out they had to fly from Mallorca to Barcelona, spend the night, then fly to St, Tropez to rejoin us, with no luggage, all at their own expense, OUCH! Their passports were left with the authorities in Mallorca. For the rest of ports they were the first ones back, lol.
And now they know better.
Worked as a showgirl and dancer on cruise ships. Half of the other girls in our performance cast missed the ship, and had to pay out of purse to fly to the next stop. It wasn’t that far, but a hell of a long swim. 😉
@@princessmarlena1359 And no interview without coffee served for them with their boss when they came back on board? Maybe they were lucky that they doid not miss work that day.
Unlike in the Navy, no Captain's mast.
Note to self, get a room with a balcony, arrive on ship two hours early, and cheer on the pier runners
I'd be willing to bet that's the most that guy has run in at least 12 years.
The US Navy teaches you to never miss ships movement. It’s an expensive mistake to make.
He was so rude to knock the pier worker's hand away while he was trying to tell him the ship has sailed. He has only himself to blame for missing the ship. Everyone else made it.
But, the good news is.. you got that airbrushed visor and refrigerator magnet you wanted ! 🤣
My thing is do people really expect the boat to just stop
Awe man! The worst part? He left his good flip-flops in his stateroom!
Along with his passport.
this is the kind of peoples if the party starts at 7pm tell them to be at 3pm
You had ONE job to do. Be back when they told you to be back. FAIL.
I really don’t understand how people can be late to the ship, I just got off mine and they told us probably 15 times before we got off the ship, Be back before 430.
after 20 cruises what i miss the most is any new MISSED THE BOAT videos ha ha ha
The 53 who disliked this video are those who missed there boats. TOUGH POO!!!

I get a kick out of how these people keep running to the end of the dock, like it's going to help them get on the ship LOL. That lack of sense might be related to why they missed the ship in the first place
From a Travel Agent,
If you book any excursion with the cruise line, they must wait for you. If you do anything on your own, the ship can and will leave you behind. You must then find transportation to the next port and rejoin the ship. P.S. waving your arms at the cruise ship does nothing but make for good videos.
If they wave their arms fast enough, they can fly on board like a bird.
But if the excursion got back in plenty of time and you decided to go shopping or drinking or whatever, the ship will leave if you don't get onboard in time.
Now if the excursion that was booked through the ship was late getting back to port on time, then the ship will wait.
People think that since they booked through the ship, that the ship would never leave them.
Bye
He was probably getting a massage with a happy ending and thought he could make the boat.
Fabulous Captain! They may learn next time
Arrogance is thinking everyone should wait until you are ready to board. I am sure they all have a boat load of excuses why it’s not their fault.
My heart goes out to them, but the ship won't wait. I can imagine how heartbreaking it is. I know I would be. But having said that, it's pretty clear what time the ships sail.
They are quite happy for the ship to leave late & times are crucial & cost money. No sympathy. Sorry.
WORD FROM A FORMER BUS DRIVER. I drove a city bus in Topeka Kansas for six years, there are some people were always running to catch the bus consistently every time. And then we started synching our official Topeka transit time to the atomic clocks and they posted that on the company website which angered the drivers because we have more people running to catch the bus routes wanting show up at the last 30 seconds to the bus stops. We would get to a time point and have to wait until the official depart time and pulling way and had people yelling catch us! particularly on two routes if you are 30 seconds ahead of time you would miss people and as you stop to wait for them and they miss the downtown staging people will flood city Council, police dispatch and transit phones daily with complaints. It seems like some people deserve to be left behind when their consistently every day running to catch the bus every time.
It would be disheartening to miss ship movement, but, people have to understand their OWN responsibility in such matters. ..
This is really funny and has made my day!
I shouldnt have stayed for the extra JD & coke 😂😂😂😂
when my son was in the Boy Scouts, NOTHING started on time.
Scheduled for 2pm? Lucky to start by 4, and it was aggravating as hell.
My sister-in-law is late for EVERYTHING. Cannot count on her at all.
So, i find these videos fiendishly entertaining.
My cousin Patricia was an hour late for her own wedding, 200 people sitting there in church annoyed with her. It's a horrible thing to do to people, very inconsiderate.
Hmmm, Scouts are early army & should be on time, it teaches children firstly to read a watch & be before time. A future job may be lost.
@@markrichards6863 c'mon Bride's prerogative..
@@seltaeb3302 Keeping 400 guests waiting is beyond rude, even on your special day. I would have left but I was in the wedding party.
It's a no brainer - at the airport the plane won't wait for you either. Nor will a train or bus.
This made my day.
My friend says when someone's late: "Let's go and not wait for them, they would have a bad feeling that they were delaying us."
Who can't read the clock will have to swim.
Wonder if anyone has ever jumped in the water 💦 hoping the 🚣♀️ would come back for them??LOL
Had a nice bottle of beer in his hand.....hmmm.
You know, PRIORITIES!
I expect he had stopped for a pie (or two).
If you weren't in that bar pounding down Mai Thais or in that gift shop trying to get that last souvenir, this wouldn't happen. Plain and simple. Responsible adults understand deadlines.
No salad bar for you tonight !
I wanted to see more of this.
The rear of these ship, no curvy hull just a flat tank side. Have a look at the Ambassador cruise ship Ambience, yes 25yrs old but looks beautiful. A cruise ship & so many got scrapped during lockdown.
Just see him running. Doesn’t show wether he missed it or not but it never fails on every cruise.
He is not a "poor guy"
Why would anybody feel sorry for people who can't be on time. We are in our 60's and are always early. It's called planning!
It's simple, look at the wristwatch & be on time
failure to plan is a plan to failure
Watching these fools diss the boat would be the only reason I would take a cruise. Watching these fools get whatt they deserve is hilarious.
Which makes any shore excursion anything but relaxing
If you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen, or alternatively take a tour organised by the company as the ship will wait in the event of a problem. If you're a cheapskate then either get back early, don't go ashore or better still have a week in Skegness
Anyone notice that he is smiling? Also, he did not stop to talk to the ship personell. People do this often, i'll bet he is a passenger on the other ship just screwing around.
Good camera work.
It would be interesting to hear from a Cruise Line industry insider to hear the excuses these idiots have for for late.
Some posters are saying he could have "taken the pilot boat". How would that work? Do they have a way to safely transfer a passenger from the pilot boat to the ship once the ship is under way?
I would never happen, too dangerous.
No
@@timchaput72
Definitely too dangerous even if the person was sober.
At that point, the cruise line captain has no idea of these people's physical fitness nor of their states of alertness, etc.
They were irresponsible as adults to not show up on time for departure so it wouldn't make much sense for the captain to add to the irresponsibility factors on his/her accords.
I did watch one video where a guy and his one bag of luggage took a pilot boat out to a recently departed ship.
The ship lowered a line and hook for his bag but lowered a rope ladder for him to climb which he did. The did stop all engines while the transfer took place.
It turned out that the guy was a member of the crew who was supposed to board at that port of call but got there too late due to congested traffic issues.
I can't see any captain in their right mind allowing such a transfer for tourists.
A bit like someone running after a train as it is pulling out of the station!
I may be a bad person but I don’t feel sorry for people like this.
Run Forest Run..
Just About missed the BOAT
Great ship nextdoor. Celebrity
So mainly because he sunbathes by the water, he can again go back to the water and finish his beer.
Stupid guy still has a freaking beer in his hand. I guess one more for the road, er... I mean one more for the sea, was one too many. Oh well, he can sit down on the dock and finish his beer figuring out how to get to the next port of call.
Lol, he not only missed the ship but all he has is shorts, a tank top and flip-flops to wear. I have no sympathy for people who run late.
This does not happen anymore because of COVID . Everyone now has to stay in their assigned tour group . No more going out on your own or leaving the group .
HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA HAA
Should be in the Olympics 😂😂😂😂
lol, where he running to though? 🤔😂
PrettyGreenMaiden He thinks the ship
Yeah! Why do they keep trying to catch the ship after it's underway? They won't be able to jump onto it. :)
Only have to eventually trot right back to the port's terminal building to begin the adventures of figuring out just how he must pay out of pocket for catching up with the ship or getting home. Either way, if he doesn't have his passport with him, that part of the story would make quite a video in of itself!

It's a Ship not a Boat.
Thanks!!
Notice most of them are so out of shape for running; huff and puff will get me there quicker!
Just go to the next stop
run body builder run.. all that work in the gym and you cant tell time
HA!
There is a required harbor pilot on board that will have to be picked up by a smaller vessel. This old guy could transfer over from it at the same time the pilot disembarks as they exit the port.
They probably wouldn't have done that. There so worried about liability that if he slipped from the pilot boat the ship could result in a big law suite.
It's been done, Tim... Seriously. There is at least one video here on UA-cam as evidence. The guy was fortunate, granted, but the risks didn't seem to concern the Pilot.
This certainly happens so often they keep a stack of disclaimer/release forms on the bridge to be signed immediately upon rescue. Hope his 'one last' umbrella refreshment was worth the hassle.
And all you have to do is pay this asshole fee of $300.
Be early or stay home. Your Mother may have told you 'you're special' but I do not believe your Mother is on this ship.
I did not see him miss the boat!
Hihihihihi
hey come back wait for me i am arrogant , important self centered, narcistic and don't give a flying rats fart about other people
No sympathy and funny

Some nasty people on this thread. You don't know why he missed the boat. Maybe he had a bout of diarrhea or something else unexpected held him up. Sure, he could just be a jerk, but he could also have had a good reason.
I felt sorry for the guy. I don't judge people because I could have a really bad day myself. I just reported what I saw.
NAVY SAME WAY MISS BOAT YOU IN DEPT. SHIT
I guess that you missed the bottle of some beverage, possibly an adult one, that he's clearly carrying in his right hand!
I'll go with he's definitely a jerk and the Daily Double, Alex!
Bout of diarrhea or something 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where are all the beautiful, cultured refined people that you expect to see on a cruise?
Poor man, they shouldn't leave him like that. As a captain, you have some responsibility and shouldn't just leave someone stranded without a passport or anything.
As a paying adult passenger, you have but one responsibility.... and that is to show up BEFORE THE DEPARTURE TIME!
Otherwise, you missed the sailing time.... not that you were left behind!
Maybe more than 3,500 other sailing passengers had their acts together enough to be on time.
Besides, cruise lines are subjected to huge fines for late departure(s) depending on how long they are in port beyond the ship's contracted departure times and that cost eventually makes it's way to the next season's unsuspecting vacationers in the form of increased fares/rates.
And, it's even a possibility that the port being needed for another ship at sea, there might also be a concern for low/high tides at that particular port.
Would you like to be the ship's captain who must explain to the cruise lines board of directors why you were caught in port due to low tides? Waiting on one or two late returning passengers probably would not be enough to fly as an excuse!
Many behind the scenes factors possibly going on that you'll have no idea what the captain must think through.
@@RenKnight347 Okay, there are a lot of points that have to be considered, I didn't know about. But at least in those cases where the captain doesn't suffer any consequences, they should wait. For the person left behind, it's a disaster.
And it seems a bit unfair towards people like me who are mostly late. It's not like we're doing that on purpose, it just happens.
@@ginafromcologne9281
Seems unfair to the many who were on-time should have to risk possibly missing their connecting flights back home just because, "".... people like [you]..."", choose to be fashionably late!
If you want to avoid the expensive disaster on an already expensive travel cruise it really comes down to three options: staying on the ship when in port; making sure you're back on-board the ship at least an hour and a half or even two hours before sailing time; or lastly, perhaps you might want just decide to sit this mode of vacationing out.
Like some other folks have noted here the fact that the airlines don't wait and nor does the rail service.
So, why do you feel that it's got to be different for maritime services to accommodate the repeat offending, usual suspects?
