Melissa, the next time you're in a supermarket, grab a handful of twist-ties (the markets near me have green ones). Rose may like them for nesting material, which may help reduce her "mischievous" behavior. They're easy to fly with, and you can leave a few along her route, and even hand some to her.
She only coos a few times a day for me or for her eggs to be brought back to her nesting box. I've tried several times to get it on film but she sees the camera and won't do it. It's actually very cute and can be high pitched like a horse's neigh or winny or whatever happy sound a horse makes 😊.
What an amusing bird. Thank you for sharing. So you have no pigeon pants on her, does this mean you are just accepting that she will leave droppings here and there ?
Yes, I let her keep them as long as she is interested in sitting on them; typically around 4 weeks. A girl pigeon will lay eggs when she feels like she has a "mate" which can be a human. Until then she won't lay any eggs. If it's a male, you can give it a couple fake eggs to sit on for fun.
I would love to take credit, but it's all her. I never trained her, and she does poop on the floor if she's wandering. BUT... because she won't poop in her cage when on her eggs (which is most of the time) her self-created habit is to fly to the brick on the little table and let it out there.
Do you know if this breed bend back because the spine is bend, of because the neck is bend, or just because their brain is wired differently ? I never know where to put the bones inside the floof lol really cute anyway !
I am guessing it's because of how they bred them to enhance the fantail feature. Making the tail fancy changed their body posture to "not normal" and so she sometimes falls backwards. There's some weird looking pigeon breeds out there. Look it up! People do crazy stuff to animals.
When I was a kid I raised Indian fantails and would get them from the “father” of the Indian Fans… Harvey Gatlin. Loved visiting his house. Said he wouldn’t sell his birds and after a couple hours visiting he would always give me a nice pair.
If you put some twigs and straw or any other nesting material out in the birds room it would be much better for the bird and you. Having a pigeon pulling on an electrical wire is terrible.
@@artwithlaur my little guy is so big but still doesn't eat on his own and my 6 week old. Now 8 weeks. Doesn't like me at all but i still let her fly around and just turn the lights off when I have to get her back in the cage. I have a video I'll post of them
@@EvaRadio I just checked your channel your pigeons are beautiful. I hope with time they treat you kinder. There's a lot of videos out there about making your pigeons friendlier to you you should check them out as they might still just be shy. Best of luck!
@@artwithlaur thank you so much it's been over a month now and the older one is getting a little bit better just very territorial of the baby but it's cute
I can feel the "five more minutes mom" when she has to get up
thanks they are graceful amazingly friendly, full of real life creatures

Hah, my dove does this all the time. He’s such a little brat and I love him ❤️
I've never heard Rose coo. Not the happy nesting grunts, but a proper, territorial coo. I can imagine her voice being very deep.

I love pidges and have looked after many in my garden, but have never met a fantail. They are probably uncommon in the UK. Keep up your good work.🐦

I like ur shirt!
Leave some paper for her to play with. You know what she wants so help her :-)
Do you let her keep the eggs & if so, for how long? If my pigeon is a girl, should I give her some fake ones or will she lay herself? ☀️🌸

why are the tail feathers like a fan all the time? never seen that on a wild pigeon?
It's a human-bred type called an Indian Fantail. It's never found in the "wild" because it's domesticated. Like a fancy chicken breed.

Fantails are silly 🙃
Can you pick up rose?
Yes, she is easy to pick up.
I've only had a pigeon 2 days and idk how to get them used to my house and their cage. She doesn't want to go into the cage so I'm not sure what to do
How are things going 2 weeks in?
