@@mattle841 I would, Europe used to have them because they stem from horse race tracks. The reason was because cars was so primitive that if you would take a regular modern track all the cars would have had to been driving suuuuuuuper slow.
@@mattle841 oval racing is insanely difficult though & there is more than just NASCAR at ovals too, other than INDYCAR's history being the main reason F1 even came into existence, they're also open wheeled single seat cars that race on ovals & circuits that would make 1990s F1 seem like a sport for children with over protective parents. oval racing is admittedly very slow and boring (hence why I really only watch bits of the INDY 500 when INDYCAR goes there) but despite that it is insanely difficult and the skill required is immense, trying to move up the pack, on a motorspeedway with 39 other aero dependent cars is pretty difficult, add in 120+mph left hand turns while still on the oval, with 39 other cars. it's an entirely different kind of driving & without ovals motorsport never would have existed, really it's a hold over from chariot racing and enabled consistent high speeds even F1 in the early days figured out that if they did not include oval sections or at least sections with high banked turns the racing would be too slow and too boring, dont forget it wasn't until the 60s that Chapman and a couple other principals figured out how to retain some minute amount of speed in the corners after an earth shattering redesign of a formula cars chassis & then again in the mid 60s by turning the gearbox into a stress bearing member. TL;DR oval racing is much more relevant to all motorsport than you think & if you should watch INDY go to the brickyard, its a spectacle even through a monitor.
first off you are talking about NASCAR & NASCAR is not the most popular motorsport in the states, hell F1 is struggling to build a foothold in the US and F1 is already rivaling NASCAR's viewership statistics. secondly, NASCAR does not use cast iron engines anymore & has not for a while, they're made of aluminum. American open wheel racing maybe a decade behind, closed wheel and closed cockpit racing in the US is exactly where it wants to be & really isn't that much different than it is in Europe, I have no idea which part of you rectum you've pulled this idea from but you should stuff'er right back up deep in there 'cause you clearly have zero clue what you're talking about.
