Excellent Job! It’s a great feeling wrenching on these machines! It’s like they become part of the family each having their own personality 🤣 inspirational! Thanks for the awesome content!
Replaced all the stock parts on my Shovel clutch including the 3 stud hub. Works fine, no problem finding neutral, shifts nice. Then again I don't have a suicide clutch or a belt drive. I use Barnett wet/dry plates and run about 7 ounces of ATF in the primary. I change the oil in the primary once a year in the winter along with a routine adjustment and it has never let me down. Belts are for pants.
I used the Ram Jet plastic retainer. I found that A was to loose and B was to tight. I ended up using an end mill in my milling machine to cut the B recesses deeper by a few thousands. Now it works perfect.
It's been a lot of years since I installed a Ram Jet clutch tamer if I remember correctly there was a A B C setting I can't remember the specific instructions it did work Roger's best product was his evo manifold every time I watch you Corey you bring back memories 👍😎👍
Corey, I think I could watch you work on bikes forever. And the ride reminded me of what I've missed lately. Unfortunately here we're looking for snow. I guess I'll be wishing for Spring for the next few months. Ride Safe! Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
Hey, Craig. Thanks so much. Bummer about the snow. I'm ignorant enough to try to ride in it like I did when it snowed here like it never does back in here in 2017. Won't be doing that again. Lol

Good job , Glad you are back making videos. Yup I have that lurching on my 81 FXE . There a company that makes a diafram Clutch that uses stock parts except pressure plate . But open primary is needed . Cost about 250 bucks . My bike stock primary so won,t work . Food for thought .
The Ram Jet clutch retainer works on my Shovel and is only there to prevent the clutch basket movement when you disengage the clutch. I can find neutral at a standstill easily. Anyhow Corey I hope you get your problem sorted.
I had my most fun dealing with my mouse traps, if you understand them a stock clutch system even using a belt drive works perfect, most people dont even know what I'm talking about,
Next time you are into that side of the bike check the primary chain sprocket alignment. The measurements are in the Harley service manual and include a chart. Do this first and it will solve alot of your clutch issues. Keep up the videos and keep ridin' bro

I guess I have to start paying more attention to these videos now lol. Thanks again for the shovelhead tips yesterday. I really appreciate it. I'll try not to bug you too much over the next few months. lol.
Did you notice the slight grooves cut into each pin the soft plates ride on and the slight oval shape being started in the plates where the holes ride on the pins . This causes the plates to wobble in and out causing drag, Also you will notice the notches cut into the basket where the steel plates ride . This also adds to the wobble effect with all the plates causing drag . One good thing I did see was the big bearing kit between the hub and basket . Yes I went through the same thing with my shovel ...And yes the tammer works but with the worn parts it only works as well as the worn parts .
All the clutch components aren't really all that old. Those are a few of the many things I replaced since I've had this bike. And they all seem to still be in decent shape.
Great video as usual!!!!!! I guess warmer there that up here where I am. Glad clutch worked out for you. God Bless Happy Thanks Giving and Merry Christmas
Always liked seeing the shadow. Sure would be terrifying to see the front caliper flopping in the wind. Dang. I came home from a 300+ mile ride on my wide Glide. Found one of the bolts holding front axle just about all the way backed out. The other one was gone
Check out the Sugarbaby Super Clutch. I have two of them and they are a big upgrade over stock.... Even with the tamers I had previously. I have a Rivera Primo on another bike and dare I say the Sugarbaby Super Clutch seems to be pretty much as good.
I’d like to recommend a police clutch for your issue. Was dealing with “the jerk” for a while and the police clutch fixed it for me. Got it on ebay, VTwin makes a set up. It’s like 5 very thick friction plates. Then you just throw whatever steels you have between the frictions. It’s like a 80$ investment. I’d look into it before that primo.
I wonder... since you can help clutch drag with a lighter weight oil in the primary on a wet clutch, maybe your dry clutch would benefit from a similar mod... You can get a balloon inflator tank and keep your dry clutch flooded with helium, since it's lighter than air.... ;)

Now this is just hearsay, something ive read long ago and a old mechanic told me. And as ive never used a mousetrap set up but had a couple pans this seems to have a kernal of truth to it. The way it was told to me was the mousetrap mov d the clutch release lever furthur then just the hand lever allowing more clearence between the clutch and steel plates eliminating the dread d creep/lurch/failure to release completely. The mousetrap I've been told is a real bear to adjust, just like any old primitive 4 speed clutches. It has to do with a lever release ratio being larger via mousetrap versus hand lever. Also ive NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH A FOOT CLUTCH, suicide clutch not rocker clutch. Both my pans had suicide clutches, hardtails(not the phony harley softail) and apes. ALL the urban myths about foot clutch, hardtail, apes are COMPLETELY FALSE, AT LEAST FOR ME!
@@arthurcutaiar9994 That makes perfect sense. I have noticed in the past the less the travel on the push rod, the more the jerky and drag. Thanks Arthur.
Dude, seeing that you run a jockey, put a bigger sprocket on your trans. Smaller on the rear wheel. That will keep the RPM's down. Proper balance of the flywheels will dictate the RPM's at which the harmonics will create the vibration. Those shovels like it around 2800. With aftermarket flywheel you can better that but now your talking $$$$$, and somebody to do the balancing.
