  • Grammar is an academic subject necessary in school but while communicating in English it seldom helps.
In this session with my students, I have explained, with examples how perfection (Grammar) doesn't work for English speaking.

“Grammar creates fear of English, and I agree because for the last 15 years I have been trying to improve my communication skills. I always thought that once I was perfect in grammar, I would start speaking English. This mindset held me back, and I never overcame my fear of grammar, which prevented me from speaking English. Eventually, I realized that this approach was not good. It’s better to focus on improving communication skills. After joining here, I have already been improving my communication skills. What you taught in your class about habits like inward and outward consumption has been helpful. If we follow these habits, we will improve naturally. At the same time, no one is perfect in their native language, so we should remove the fear and learn English communication skills. Otherwise, we won’t be able to thrive in this society.”

This is such an insightful perspective! I agree that focusing too much on grammar can sometimes make English feel intimidating, especially for learners. It creates unnecessary pressure to be 'perfect' rather than enjoying the process of communication. We should emphasize fluency and confidence over correctness in the early stages of learning. Thanks for shedding light on this important issue!

Good Patil Saab, I do teach English just like you, not emphasizing on grammar, just by encouraging to listen, read the same topic again and again.

Very good insight about grammer how it will create fear, action is more important than study of Grammer.

i totally agree with your perspective of speaking english without putting all emphasis on perfection or perfect grammar ; it just changed my mindset from passively consuming rules to taking actions ( in the form of speaking imperfect english) . i wish you the best for making more videos and bursting the myths around english speaking

Nice video. It is the ground reality, because so many people including me gets confused because of grammar and get stuck in between and stop speaking after that. So this is what we learn in our institute to speak freely and make mistakes and improve

Lessons i learned from this video
    1. Language developes unconciously
    2. Habits are the foundation for any skill development
    3. Feel free to make mistake

We have a misconception from childhood that English is grammar.
Our school, family and society forcefully tell us, If you learn English grammar then you can speak fluently English.
