Hmong culture and expectations makes it harder for the women to take their children after a divorce or separation. Traditionally, the kids (the sons) will past down the husband's family name so most moms are forced to separate from their kids. Most, if not all, moms will not abandon their kids unless if they're drug addicts or selfish.
