    Excellent content as always gents. This channel has truly inspired me to improve my wardrobe so I truly appreciate all the insight. I honestly wish I could wear my Dark striped suit more often but I managed to get a few casual blazers that feature patch pockets which I find more versatile and appropriate for any informal event. It gets extremely hot out here so my blazers are unlined cotton and the other is a Wool/ Linen Blend although not sure of the lining but I assume it can be worn in warm weather as well. I will definitely double check.

    Could you do a video on Belts vs suspenders. When you should use one over the other; and the different types of suspenders and belts. Also, when not to wear either? The No-belt look? No suspenders? Just perfect fit …is this a thing? 🤔

    • @jaycowper
      @jaycowper 2 роки тому +5

      The biggest no is wearing a belt with suspenders together. The other thing is when wearing a vest, you must wear it with suspenders.

    • @themoderndandy713
      @themoderndandy713 2 роки тому +1

      Belts
      Pros: More "normal," works with casualwear.
      Cons: Leather gets ruined easily, restricts your waist, must be matched to both leather and metal.
      Yes: With casual looks, two-piece suits or sport coats, and especially with equestrian wear.
      Never: With suspenders, with a waistcoat, with a stroller, dinner suit, morning coat, or evening suit.
      Suspenders
      Pros: Non-restrictive, more elegant, holds trousers up better, works with more formal looks.
      Cons: Requires the sewing of buttons on to trousers.
      Yes: With a waistcoat, suit or combination of any kind, stroller, dinner suit, morning coat, or evening suit.
      Never: With a belt or with clips.
      The No-Belt Look
      I personally like this look, even with belt loops. It's a bit of a modern fashion faux-pas, but I personally dislike the workwear aspect of belts and don't like untucking my shirts. I think it looks fine. When wearing a tailored jacket or some sort of covering, though, I wear suspenders.

      I'm big into hats, too! I wear them every time I leave the house. My hat of choice for felt season is a fedora, but I've been known to wear homburgs, a bowler, a pork pie, flat caps, straw hats such as the Panama, boater, and straw pork pie, and even a couple top hats with formalwear, one of which is a collapsible opera hat from the '20s! The only hat I'm not that fond of is the trilby. I consider it the less elegant cousin of the fedora.

      @@danbee415 I'm a firm believer that style is all about personality. I'll grant you that hats like fedoras are often worn by neckbeards and those with no taste in style. However, fashion fails to take into account individual personalities and preferences in favor of homogenizing humanity. I wear suits and ties daily, complete with a pocket watch, dress hat, opera pumps, and occasional dress cane. I once had a friend tell me, "If you show up in casualwear, I'm calling the police." I am naturally a formal, anachronistic person, and as such would look as pretentious and out-of-place in the trendy looks of today as Danny Gonzalez would look in morning dress. It's all about being true to yourself. Conformity, in my eyes, is the enemy; the crushing of one's very being to be accepted into a group of others who have done the very same. Melodramatic, yes, but I believe in a total democratization of style. There is no logical reason for everyone to be expected to dress the same. It provides no moral, pragmatic, or humanitarian benefit. It is simply conformity for conformity's sake, something us humans are bizzarely wont to do. For me, I'm going to keep wearing my three-piece suits, hats, and red neckties. I just hope those who dress in a trendy way do it because they want to rather than because they feel forced to in order to be liked.
