  • Are you moving to Arizona?
Moving your family to a new state is a challenge on its own. Moving them for all the right reasons is another.
If you’re looking for cultural diversity, a strong economy and adventure for your clan, Arizona is the obvious choice.
Known for its warm climate and beautiful desert landscape, Arizona has long been considered a great place for vacation.
But it’s also a great place to live because of median income, safety, graduation rates, weather, and cultural offerings.
The beautiful scenery of Arizona has provided settings for several Hollywood movies, while the economy is led by health care, transportation, technology and government service.
Endless mountain ranges, palm trees that give the place an easy vibe, rivers, lakes, acres of space, and crazy beautiful sunsets make it a dream place for outdoor lovers.
It should come as no surprise then to know Arizona has one of the biggest resort collections you will find in a single state.
Beyond the natural lure, some of the things that make this state appealing include affordability, education, and employment opportunities.
Whether you’re looking to move or already live here, these are the ten best places in Arizona to call home.
    10. Catalina Foothills. (for retirees, families, great outdoor activities)
    9. Sun City and Sun City West. (good for retirees, low tax)
    8. Flagstaff. (great outdoor activities)
    7. Tempe. (good for job seekers, retirees)
    6. Prescott. (retirees, great outdoor activities)
    5. Scottsdale. (best for families, great outdoor activities, good for job seekers)
    4. Peoria. (very safe, good for job seekers)
    3. Oro Valley. (affordable, safe, best for families, outdoor activities)
    2. Chandler. (affordable, safe, outdoor activities, best for families, jobs)
    1. Gilbert. (affordable, safe, best for families, outdoor activities)
Thanks for watching this video. I hope it's useful for you.

I wouldn't say a millionaire but you have to have a hell of a lot of money to live in all of those cities. Especially Scottsdale, although they are pretty they're kind of expensive for homes. She didn't say like how much the average income is. If you love heat you love Arizona and the winters are awesome down in the desert. I lived in Apache Junction and Mesa and when I lived there it was really nice. there it wasn't like it was when I left. I stayed in Colorado.

Correct. No mention that Tucson has no freeways to get around, and the streets are poorly maintained, and drivers routinely make left turns against a red light. No mention that Phoenix has had 100 degree nights; yep, when the low was over a hundred degrees. But there's no humidity. That's right, and it dries out your nose, where the mucous membranes crack and bleed. A modest home in Scottsdale, as an example, will have, on average, HOA fees of $200 a month. Tucson and Phoenix are world capitals for treatment of skin cancer; they have to be. And I didn't hear them mention that coccidioidomycosis, "valley fever," is endemic here. I retired to Arizona, but not to one of these God-forsaken places.

Louis C. Gasper You’re right, there isn’t a great deal of information out there mentioning Valley Fever. In fact Tucson is where the Valley Fever Center of Excellence is located. It is one of the foremost institutions working on a Valley Fever vaccine. I lost my right lung after three surgeries. It is a very real danger. I lost my sister in a 1970 flash flood near Payson where 21 people perished. Since that time they are warning people now with public service announcements although some people still don’t heed.

Its hard to breath and the water particles in the atmosphere multiplies the heat index up to 100% hotter than it actually is. Not to mention that there is a musky smell of rotted wood and wet soil everywhere you go. Also, it rains a lot, sometimes 3 or 4 showers in one day without warning.

For instance, I'm looking at quiet, inexpensive, low crime rate (because there's not a lot of people) and still accessible for the everyday needs. So I personally don't gaf about cities, and the fact that it's nice for the (expensive) retirees.

Believe it or not there are cheap places to live in Scottsdale. It’s called S. Scottsdale. Lots of homes between $250k to $400k. Peoria is OK. You can find homes for around $150/soft. Oro Valley is great for retirement. $400k will get you a nice house. Chandler varies from $250k to over a million. 1000sqft home in Chandler can be found for under $250k and fix ups for $200k. Gilbert is vary similar to Chandler, just a little newer. Gilbert homes start at $250k. I’ve seen 1100sqft duplexes for low 200’s. Brand new 1700sqft homes in Gilbert will run you over $400k. Just remember folks. Property taxes here are very cheap. in Chandler and Gilbert a 2000sqft home valued at $400k will run around $2000/yr. In comparison, a 2000sqft home in El Cajon Cali, worth $500k will run you close to $3500/yr. A 2000sqft home in Rochester NY, valued at $700k, will run you close to $21,000/yr. One thing in AZ that is expensive, vehicle tags. Tags will run you 2% of the value of the vehicle. A $50k brand new truck will run you $1000/yr, first year.

I'm Disabled, a Veteran, and have been homeless for two years. I'm not a drug addict, just lost my housing two years ago when the apartment complex I was living at in Mesa Arizona was sold to a buyer in Toronto, who promptly notified the tenants living with Section 8 or VASH assistance they had the option to move out or pay full market value rent without assistance.
I found while looking for a place to move to, that most low income housing in my area was eliminated in this same fashion by greedy investors and was unavailable to find another place to live.
I bought an old van on payments and was forced to start living in it. I did so for a year and was offered a tiny fiberglass trailer on payments. I found that the person I bought it from had mislead me on a clear title, and have had difficulty getting it registered and legal to tow. I have been stranded at a Recreation Area, above Kingman Arizona for seven months now trying to get repairs done to my van. It is no longer safe to drive, and definitely not suitable to tow my trailer. It has been a living hell, upto 128 degrees at times this summer, now dealing with freezing cold at night and heavy winds. Every time I try to get some repairs made, something comes up. I bought a used generator which failed in a couple weeks, had to buy another one, then my emotional support dog Archie was badly bitten and required veterinary care, my air conditioning compressor failed in my Van, I cut my knuckle to the bone and ligaments on some glass discarding some trash which resulted in an Emergency Room Visit.
I have been trying to get help, and have not had much success. I was accepted for PATH Rapid Rehousing through the Catholic Charities, but have searched all over Mohave County but found I cannot afford an apartment on my disability income. I have been looking for a room for rent, but no luck.
So now I'm in a panic as I was notified by the Catholic Charities Caseworker handling my information, had their computer stolen and now my personal information has been compromised.
I am on a waiting list for Section 8, basically started over. I did not choose to be in this homeless situation, and have been doing my best to deal with everything I have experienced the past 2 years. I had to literally give everything I owned away when I lost my apartment EVERYTHING!, I did try and keep my many tools, but those to were lost to a "friend" who was going but keep them until I get settled, but would never respond to my calls or texts.
I am absolutely sick of my life. I don't live anymore, I merely exist, and it's not much of an existence at that. I have not showered in nearly 8 months, and haven't bathed in over two years since losing my apartment. My teeth are broken, many missing, and I broke another one recently, not looking forward to the toothache that's coming. I am nearly blind in one eye and can only see clearly with glasses, but I lost one of the lenses. I have reached out to every VA organization or service center I know of for help, but am ineligible.
I worked for the Air Force starting my senior year of high school, as a civilian employee and for the next decade.
I also simultaneously served 6 years in the Air National Guard, and was honorably discharged, but still don't meet the requirements as I was on active duty for well over a year with Avionics Technical School, and was activated during Desert Storm, but could not deploy with my unit, as I was a 3 level technician straight out of school.
I have no family for support, no friends, only a few people I have met while being homeless. I have had a fellow vet brings some water bottles and food items several months back, and just today was given a propane tank, heavy sleeping bag, and nice winter coat by Catholic charities, these were definitely a blessing and will definitely help, but I don't see how I can ever get out of my situation as my limited income doesn't suffice to handle the many needs I currently have trying to get out of my homeless situation along with handling my major dental problems, lack now of a safe vehicle, and trailer registration.
Any day the area I am staying may be closed, the BLM Rangers have told me they plan to close access to this Recreation Area soon. I will be in an Emergency Situation when they do, and have no idea yet what I will do.

The high rent's are because California Investors bought most of the apartment complexes and are building more. Net result is out of state greedy investors are controlling the rents. At the same time local politicians have been bought and paid for. Local officials got their piece of the action, so they dont care!

Most places on the outskirts of Phoenix that are considered top places to live are going to cost you more. But if you come from a place where the cost of living was high then I guess this could be a good deal for you.
