I slept on the floor of the bar at Mikes about 40 years ago. Got there and our rooms had been double booked. I was just a young teen but it looks exactly the same.
@@theadventurecooperative Time flies... Side story. That year Bruce Ogilvie walked into the bar after dark. He had been out prerunning his XR600 getting ready for the next race. His bike had died and he hitched a ride up to mikes with a local. He was really worried about his bike being stolen where he had left it. My dad and his best friend, long time desert racers themselves, offered to take him to go get his bike with our chase truck. They left late and were gone most of the night, not sure how far they had to go. Came back with Bruces bike and a story about getting ran off the road by somebody. The next morning Bruce asked us not to take pictures of the bike, he was testing an oversized head that they didn't want anyone to know about before the race. Fast forward to this summer. My cousin who was on that trip with us walks into the AMA Hall of Fame. There is the same bike, with the modified head, as part of Bruce Ogilvie's display in the museum.
Long, full day. Cool sunset riding.
We had a lot of fun getting back to civilization.

@@motofunk1 That's an awesome story.
Another great video guys! Just out of curiosity, how many air filters do you go through or have to change in a day?🤔
Depends If you're out front none.
So did anyone take a fishing pole and fish for trout in the Rio San Rafael? There is rainbow trout in that river that flows past Rancho Cielo.
Handy hint for multi taskers.
Great video Scott and Stephanie, just curious how much is fuel down there in cdn funds?
Fuel is about $2.15 per litre.
@theadventurecooperative wow that's expensive, we are 1.58 in the Okanagan
@@ianferrier235 yes it is.
Mike's Sky Ranch looks like an awesome day ride! It's nice to see it such good condition.
It really is a great spot.
