On the Turntable: add 1/2" to the neck to lean into the vintage vibe. I was thinking 60s mod sweaters with slightly cropped length, and bracelet fitted sleeves. Then I saw the original design...not sure what will suit the recipient. Okay, maybe I have to make that myself... :)

I'm always in awe of your (and Spencer's) humble genius. I consider myself a maniacal project person, but you two must be Time Lords with everything you accomplish in such a short amount of time and with great analytical talent. You've been such a fiber inspiration for me.
On a different note, I've been trying to find a way to merge my love of native plant gardening with fiber arts. I want to figure out how to create botanical illustrations out of fiber. I'm not the best with intarsia or other colorwork due to my perfectionism and huge hands..lol. I totally forgot about felting. I'm definitely going to look into it and see if that is a good medium to combine the two. I do see that as a rabbit hole, though, dyeing small batches of the copious amounts of alpaca batts I have and adding intricate felting pieces to my already massive project list...lol. On second thought, I'm not sure if your inspiration is a blessing or a curse...🤣I'm leaning towards blessing, though.
Great video as always, and you, Spencer, and the fam have a great holiday season!!

Really enjoy that you share your “knitaverse” with us. May I take the time to thank you for the time you take to share all your informative, valued content. I’ve picked up quite a few tips and insightfulness along the way. I’m here in New Brunswick, Canada where we have unlimited access to Briggs and Little rustic, durable yarn…(which Lichen and Lace sources her yarn from 😉). I just finished knitting the Lulu slipover (pattern by petteknit) using Briggs’s Regal yarn and I love it! Just want to wish you a Merry Xmas and happy holidays☺️🇨🇦

I'm flying to Dallas (for a funeral, sadly) the 21st, back the 23rd, and plan to take a sleeve..... sweaters knit in pieces are very easy to work on and worth the seaming effort. Still a bit worried about getting needles on the plane, we'll see. As long as I have to travel at the worst time of the flying year, I might as well have some relaxing knitting to keep me company.

Hi Gene, please accept my condolences. . . . I'm so sorry for your loss. Good luck with the trip and the plane! I'll be thinking of you.

Love the needle felted landscape, it looks great in the shadow box. Your reminder of 90s ribbed sweaters have brought back terrible memories and I feel I will no have nightmares. Interested to see what you decide to do about the collar and ribbing on the 3x1... I've no clue how I would handle that... I'm sure you'll figure out something great.

Thanks, Megan :) And thanks for the vote of confidence. The sweater's neck is worrying me at the moment--not quite low enough in the front. Hmm, more mods, methinks! Happy holidays!!

Was going to chime in about the crew neck vs turtle neck. I might take into consideration physical characteristics...I have a long neck and look better in turtle necks...someone with a shorter neck might prefer a crew neck. Of course there's always the itchy factor to consider too. Many thanks for your informative videos!

Oh great points about the neckline. I just washed it to see how I like it . . . more mods to come, no doubt! Happy holidays!

Hi Melissa. I hope you enjoy your “reading” holiday break. I have a sweater that I made out of the same weight of lopi yarn a few years ago and I am surprised that you were able to unravel that yarn. ❤those lined mittens.

Thanks for the ideas for travel knitting. Seems odd to be flying again, doesn't it, but in January, my husband and I have been married 40 years and instead of a big party, we are going on a little cruise in April. A little cruise that starts in Papeete, some 13 hours from Vancouver, plus the flights to Vanc. I find I can't always read in airports and I can only do crosswords for so long, so knitting it is! I may not be in the mood to knit mittens by then, but hats are always good and that one looks so warm. I still have time to sort something out.
BTW, why is it that no enterprising entrepreneur has yet set up little knitter-friendly vending machines in airports? Ball(s) of yarn, appropriate needles or hook, printed pattern. All either in a package or a la carte. I feel like there's an untapped opportunity here, and just think of the stress-reduction potential…

      @knittingthestash  6 місяців тому

SUCH A GREAT IDEA!! It's you--you need to do this for all our sakes! Vending machines for the win!! Good luck on your plane ride, I hope it goes smoothly :)

Oh, it's not me. Wouldn't know where to start. To be fair, it's not even an original idea: I'm sure read it somewhere. Yarn Harlot, perhaps?
I think this is a Spencer idea, no?@@knittingthestash

Late to watching. The holidays were hectic and there are five birthdays in my family between Dec 28 and Jan 13. I have the Patty Lyons book and love it. Check out the buttonhole section. Wow. I made the neatest buttonhole ever.

Great to see your end of the year sweater. If you were knitting the sweater for me, I'd ask you to do a folded hem at the bottom, instead of another ribbing pattern. I'd also want the neck to be about the size it is now, not a turtleneck, and ask you to do a folded over / doubled neck treatment that would match the hem. Good luck on your travels. I'm venturing onto a plane next year for the first time since 2019. It's weird for something that was so normal to do to now feel so completely weird and abnormal. Please share any tips and tricks you discover for post-pandemic air travel! I hope your holidays are wonderful. harpingJanet

Great ideas and thanks, Janet! I'm fussing with the neck again now . . . just washed and blocked it before making more mods :) Happy holidays!
