    This video should go viral. People who trade money for dreams and lives for an individual don't deserve to live. Who knows how many Essien, Mikel, Drogba and Mane are lost like these everyday?
    Maybe they wouldn't have been stars but they could atleast live a better life and see their parents.
    Thanks Tifo as always for amazing content.
    Hope FIFA and UN put an end to this more sooner than later.

      FIFA and the UN won't be the ones to put an end to it. Just like the Catholic Church, the bigger the organisation, the more avenues of corruption there are. Within the UN and FIFA, there exists too much graft for any meaningful change. I believe the most effective way of curbing this will come from the grassroots level.

    I personally know a young man that was mistakenly brought to Portugal to play football from Guinea and when the club was not interested he was left alone in Portugal with no money and no mean to return home. Fortunately for him he also had a Portuguese passport and he managed to enlist in the Portuguese army and while receiving wages he has shelter and food. And he's actually happy for being here. Somehow his story ended up alright. There are a lot of young man that don't have that luck.

    this is the dark side of football. agents playing with people's life, like a commodity, for their own benefit. fifa should be more stringent. :(

    • @GardEngebretsen
      @GardEngebretsen 5 років тому +15

      They are stringent, it's simply that it's extremely hard to control what these people do in some African countries, when not even the government of that country are in control of their own inhabitants.
      The responsible people are con artists, swindlers, criminals - and not connected to any official football organ at all.

    • @acpliego
      @acpliego 5 років тому +2

      FIFA doesn't do anything in terms of legal issues. They just pretend it in countries where laws are followed but in the countries that laws are not followed FIFA simply looks the other way. Mexico is an example of FIFA turning the other way in terms of players rights and multi club ownership, and it's not a secret, they just don't care.

As having the game a part of my life since I was 17..football is truly a way of life...your videos not only are astonishing but very well detailed to understand the nature of the game, styles and philosophy’s, footballers, money corruptions, politics being part of football, the beauty and the dark side of the game...your videos are truly granting me a very strong understanding towards the world of football...and that the more I see these videos of yours..it really makes me explore more deeply in the nature of football..and that these football videos of yours really bring out the philosopher out of me towards the world of football understanding what is good and bad...I just subscribe to you and that I really encourage you to make more of these videos...the one where you talk about slavery in European football really made me realize that there is still European colonization in a way...I’m highly in love with your guys’d work

    And it’s so much worse in Asia. I’ve lived in Shanghai and Manila over the last couple of years and there are so many 18-23 year old African lads promised the dream by dodgy agents. The kids and their families pay the agent £5k to sort everything out, which is often the total savings of a village or community, and as the video says, the agent then leaves them when they arrive in a foreign city thousands of miles away with no savings or money to get back home. Horrible stuff and they’re often forced into theft or selling drugs to survive.

    Very true. I moved to england at 16 to play football, from Australia. The English FA introduced a law that wouldn’t allow me to get my international clearance to play football- unless I moved to england for education. I had to prove I was there for education by enrolling into a college and living with family. This was 5 years ago. I think they introduced it not long before. It was to stop exactly things like this happening. Unfortunately it still happens everywhere though!
