Mind’s Eye every note were engraved in my subconscious a long ago, it still remains one of the best neo-classical metal guitar albums ever made to this very day after 40 + years of listening to thousands of albums from all genres. Amazing cover for this song, but I wish it had the lead harmonies to give it the justice it deserves.
Yes, harmonies add a lot. I decided to do one-guitar arrangements to keep everything a bit more realistic and relatable. But the harmonies still pop through a little bit in the background music.

Got to admire Mike Varney's Shrapnel record renaissance days... Brings me back to Yngwie starting neoclassical runs in warp speed. Always liked how Vinnie & Tony Mac added their own flair. I was lucky enough as a teenager seeing Yngwie in 1986 at the start of the Trilogy tour in a general admission smaller setting. I had bought Rising Force in 1985 as it began to get big here in the states and I was blown away. You are a very accurate guitarist that deserves praise. Thanks! 🔥🎸🔥

I'm on a Vinnie Moore journey. Started with While My Guitar Gently Weeps, then Lifeforce, then Daydream, and now Mind's Eye. I figure I'll finish with Morning Star and by the time I can do all 5 I'll be so old I won't remember my own name....🤣
oh, holding back memories.... somewhere, in 2000-2001, going together with a good friend of mine to visit one of his co-workers, the host gave me the audio cassette of "Mind's Eye" album, said it's useless to him. Having the walkman with me, on our way out I put the tape in it, press play and get instantly stunned! and wondering: how come the best thing I ever heard could be useless to someone? And that was the introduction of VM to me... love him ever since! Good job, man, all the way through!
Amazing good album. Listened to it many times. And what saddens me is that Vinnie Moore has relatively small amount of subscribers. While he is one of the greatest players in the history of rock shred guitar. Bro, you shredded the keyboard solo. Respect.
Fantastic stuff, learnt this album as well as Tony Macalpines 2 first albums in my sleep. Minds Eye is still my #1 from Vinnie. Haven't played this song since perhaps early 90's but still remember each note apparently.
Finally, I see Peter Lidstrom on youtube. Fantastic player and incredible cover to Vinnie Moore's enchanting composition "In Control". Peter Lidstrom has always been the guitarist to whom I owe such debt when I first came across his website with all those Power tabs of guitarist. It was heaven and I learned so much! Thanks. Most of these songs I've played since my teens, so the funny thing is I dont practice them a whole lot. I go from memory until I'm stuck, then I sit down and listen. What really takes time is editing the video clips.

Vinnie Moore is simply the best at harmony playing for instrumental neo-classic rock imo. It's similar to Iron Maiden but in a guitar virtuoso god style. His music feels like listening an electric guitar orchestra. One of the best composers along with Tony Macalpine and Joe Satriani imo.

Hello, which pickup are you using in the bridge? Which Dimarzio mini humbucker model would it be? The pedal to simulate the keyboard is the Fromel Velvet Vice? Wonderful playability. This Mind's Eyee album is incredible
The key modulates a lot. Intro/verses G phrygian, Choruses F# min. Solos Eb min then C min. On top of that I de-tuned the track 1/2 step for my Eb tuning, whereas the original is A440. So yes, it can be a bit confusing when playing along!
@@ClassicSoloSpotlight that makes me feel a lot better - I worked out the F# min and G phrygian but the solos broke my music theory brain. this album is full of a lot of musical twists and turns, love it
looks like slightly different pick hand technique on this solo as compared to malmsteen stuff? Is that a conscious thing or just going with the flow. Perhaps this is actually picked more whereas malmsteen has an odd pulloff thrown in here and there?
Thats right, I shift a lot between parallel and angled picking. It depends on the part and what sound I'm going for. On Malmsteen I use more parallel because the attack is smoother and cleaner. Vinnie Moore is more metal and aggressive so I use more angled attack. And the really fast triplets are all circle picked.
@@JohnProph It's "circular" picking where you flex the bent joint of your thumb "backwards and forwards" instead of picking up and down. Great for really fast parts.

Hello, which pickup are you using in the bridge? Which Dimarzio mini humbucker model would it be? The pedal to simulate the keyboard is the Fromel Velvet Vice?

what key is this song in originally? I'm usually pretty good at picking it but with the harmonies all over this album it makes it hard to work out
The key modulates a lot. Intro/verses G phrygian, Choruses F# min. Solos Eb min then C min. On top of that I de-tuned the track 1/2 step for my Eb tuning, whereas the original is A440. So yes, it can be a bit confusing when playing along!
@@ClassicSoloSpotlight that makes me feel a lot better - I worked out the F# min and G phrygian but the solos broke my music theory brain. this album is full of a lot of musical twists and turns, love it
looks like slightly different pick hand technique on this solo as compared to malmsteen stuff? Is that a conscious thing or just going with the flow. Perhaps this is actually picked more whereas malmsteen has an odd pulloff thrown in here and there?
Thats right, I shift a lot between parallel and angled picking. It depends on the part and what sound I'm going for. On Malmsteen I use more parallel because the attack is smoother and cleaner. Vinnie Moore is more metal and aggressive so I use more angled attack. And the really fast triplets are all circle picked.

@@JohnProph It's "circular" picking where you flex the bent joint of your thumb "backwards and forwards" instead of picking up and down. Great for really fast parts.
