Great stuff, Gina! Thank you for this! Something I noticed that I thought I'd share with the class. When playing the 2 finger chords and moving from one position to the next within the same chord, you're just skipping over 2 frets. So you don't even need to memorize where all of the positions are. For example, if playing G using 1st string 5th fret and 2nd string 3rd fret, just skip over frets 6 and 7. Your next G is 1st string 9th fret, 2nd string 8th fret. Just keep skipping over 2 frets every time and you're golden! Also, your fretting fingers as your going up the neck (going to higher notes) goes from 2 frets apart, to 1 fret apart, to 0 frets apart. Then it starts over. Those rules seem to work for all major chords.
Okay. This single banjo video changed my banjo life. Not even kidding. All I knew to do was vamp on f-shape, d-shape and bar cords. Never occured to me to leave off a couple of fingers and going with that. Such a fun discovery! Thank you so much!
amazing I love it. I've been a picker for 5 years now, and until this have yet to find such great knowledge put so simply thank you and may god bless you for sharing such a great skill.
Isn't it great? Especially during this pandemic, when it is harder to get together to play with other people. I'm glad you signed up for it! It will be SO helpful!
Are there two finger versions of minor chords ? If so, will you consider doing a lesson on using them in a similar manner ? Thank you so much. Your lessons are great .
Great lesson, but I totally disagree with you about the barrel chords. Scruggs said the same thing, that these chords were not useful, but I find they're super fun to mix in when playing backup
My apologies! This video was made for Patreon, and I posted it here as well as a promotion. Banjo Tidbit #7 is available on Patreon. www.patreon.com/ginapicks5 The main thing that lesson taught is finding and rolling through each version of each major chord up and down the neck (F shape, D shape, and Barre). If you can do that, you're good to go.
I now have get busy with my '96 Prucha Inspiration! A great lesson.
