A: Once again...... fresh idea for a healthy and tasty side dish! I'm going to make it and use it as my contribution to our families' non-traditional Christmas meal.
Those look absolutely delicious. So glad you didn’t cover w/brown sugar & mini marshmallows on mashed sweet potatoes. Yeck. BTW, brilliant that you cut carrots on an angle. Any veggie you can do that with, the better (even sliced pieces of garlic). The reason is that cutting on an angle reveals more of veggie & its nutrients. Who knew? I learned this is 1993 when I did my herbal apprenticeship w/an internationally known herbalist. You’re so wise, Adelina, as was your Mom.💙🎄🌀
I am going to make this recipe. It looks wonderful and I usually make just plain old steamed carrots. Or I put them in soups! I know I am going to love your Mom's carrot recipe.🥰 Thank Adelina.
This is definitely a yum dish! I use bechamel sauce for a variety of dishes. Add a bit of Paremsan to the sauce and it works for Fettucini Alfredo. The nutmeg makes a world of difference, no matter the vegetable you use. Are you on propane now? If so, have you noticed a difference in using your stove and oven?
PS. Both Daniel & I have COVID. Perfect timing bc my caregiver is out on leave & I’d feel awful giving to her. BTW, I use whole nutmeg & grate it. Love it so much! Yum! Definitely don’t need much. I put grated nutmeg & a bit of cayenne in my vegan mac-n-cheese. So delish!!
I'm sorry to hear you're sick! 😷. I hope your symptoms aren't too bad. I never thought about putting nutmeg in Mac and cheese. I'll have to try that. Take care of yourself ❤️.
@@myBIGtinyhouselife Haven’t gone to hospital but having COVID is no joke. Have been regularly consulting my very wise dtr who’s a nurse-she said call an ambulance if I feel it’s hard to breath. My oxygen rate is very low but I can breathe. I’d rather be at home. I’ve lost all sense of taste & smell & have discovered muscles I never knew I had. Super painful. Daniel is doing better than me. Resting constantly. Drinking plenty of good quality water & just minding my own business. Stay well, Adelina, & the rest of folks here. Have plenty of tissue to spit into; we’re using muCiNex to get junk outta lungs.
This looks yummy, but I'm not a huge fan of carrots, so I might use brussel sprouts or maybe even just new potatoes and more cheese in the sauce (I'm clearly not vegan!). Thanks for another great recipe.
Hi Adelina, I know this is 4 mnths late, but I just want say: You can buy a whisk covered in silicone. I have a real good quality one. It works wonderfully in your pots and pans so as not to scratch them. (I always cringe when I see people use metal whisks in their pans and I can hear the scratching sound. But maybe that doesn’t bother you. I’m autistic. 🙃
That would be the main event at my table. It looks scrumptious.
☺️
that looks really good. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
You're welcome Connie ☺️.
Oooh I love carrots...you g to try this and basically everything is on hand! Thanks!!!
I hope you like it 🎅🎄
I love carrots this sounds very interesting.
☺️
Looks yummy; think I'll try it. Thanks.
☺️🎄
A: I'm voting for some Portugese dishes added to your food channel!
They are tough to veganize. I'll try!
Thank you Friend!
🎄☺️
If you rinse the onion under cold water, then slice it, it takes off some of the fumes that makes us cry..
Ohhhh, I'm gonna try that next time! 😁

Looks yummy! I ordered the Forks over Knives cookbook. Hoping to transition...at least some. I also ordered the bluetooth headband.
🎄😊🎅
I have carrots from the garden still, this is what I will do with them. Thank you
You're welcome ☺️

For us in the southern United States, we would call the sauce a milk gravy. Looks delicious!!🎄❤️😊
😁
That looks amazing 😻 I’m going to make that for dish this year. And adding durkee onions sound amazing too 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🧅🧅🧅😋

Looks delicious! My mom made something similar using brussel sprouts in the cream sauce. 🙂👍🐾
I think non-loving bs eaters would like this!
@@justmaria5806 I like them plain now, but back then, it was the only way I would eat them.
Yum
😊
😊
Looks yummy, but I would have to use a different vegetable, just not a carrot fan. I want to try it!
Let me know what veggie you try.
I use the white sauce with the onions also, however I use tomatoe sauce instead of cream and create tomatoe soup. Adding basil at end
Sounds good! ☺️

@@myBIGtinyhouselife Am getting worse. Think I’m going to have to call an ambulance.
Oh no! Yes, best to be in the hospital where they can take care of you. I'm so sorry ❤️❤️❤️

Oh wow! That sounds awful. I agree that it's better to be in your own home/bed. How many days has it been?

Can't wait to make this recipe. Do you have a dish washer and what size is your sink?
I don't and I don't know 🤷🏻♀️😁.
I know not carb friendly but that’s me! I’m thinking potatoes would be delicious like this 😀 or even maybe a California Blend!
For sure!
You've done your Mom proud!
Can this be made gluten free?
I would think so but I've never tried it.

That's a good idea. I should look for one. ☺️
This recipe is a bit along the lines of dauphinoise potatoes......using carrots instead of potatoes
Yum
