    The progress/chapter progress bar overlay in this video is cool and very useful for the viewer. I will be incorporating this!

    Great video John. I'm a big fan of Ignite Talks and Pecha Kuchas. Good luck with the Teams > NDI > OBS workflow. We tried Skype > NDI > OBS several times with perfect video quality, but unresolvable sound issues.

      Thanks! Yea my findings were doable but not what I’d want to put end users through. We ended up going Epiphan Pearl mini for our self service kits. The ATEM mini is also a great option but the audio monitoring was the big downfall.

    Hello John, thanks for sharing. How did you manage to make the Countdown script works ? I've tried it and the Text source doesn't show up in the script menu.
    Thank you
    Mike

      Thanks for watching! I use an OBS script called CountdownandSwitchScenes.lua. I found it in the OBS forums and it works very well for me. I use just a normal text source in my pre-show scenes and haven’t had trouble with the script finding it. I would give that script a try and see if it works better for you. Hope that helps!

    Hi John. I have a complex live streaming question and wondered if you could offer up advice on my setup. I've spent six hours researching and trying to make this setup work, but am not having any luck. My proposed setup: Sony A7siii on a gimbal, streaming via the Teams Mobile App on a Samsung Galaxy S10e. I am using the Camlink 4k that i've connected to the Samsung via a USB to USB-C converter. I've got an HDMI connected from the Camlink to the Sony Camera. In theory, it seems like it should work, but i'm not able to switch from the default camera phone webcam to the Sony. Is this setup possible? I'm not seeing anyone on the internet attempting to do the setup that I am. I'm in a bind and wondered if you could offer up any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

    is the gimbal tracking your movement ? it is nice.

    • @CollabMoore
      @CollabMoore  3 роки тому +1

      Yep! It’s a feature of the DJI Osmo Pocket. It tracks very well and is a great camera!

      @@CollabMoore if the HDMI cable is connected, will it affect the tracking ?

      @CollabMoore  3 роки тому +1

      @@basilihna7063 Unfortunately the Osmo Pocket doesn't support HDMI out. That's my biggest disappointment with it. I really wish it could be a gimbal that I could capture for live events but it only records locally. 😒

    Very cool setup! I love how you have integrated everything to produce a very professional live stream. Your facilities are beautiful too! I’m jealous... haha. This video gave me some ideas on how to improve my workflow. Do you have any recommendations for an affordable PC that can easily stream and record for 3 hours?

      John Sanders thank you! I’m not too familiar with options outside of just what we issue to our employees. My main device is a 2019 15” MacBook Pro that is very capable. The PC I usually use for encoding with OBS is a Dell 5530 laptop that does a fantastic job. I don’t watch the overall performance too closely but OBS with 2 HDMI captures running (PC and Camera) and OBS says between 1-2% CPU usage.
      I don’t remember the CPU specs off the top of my head but both devices have 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD’s.
      I’m a big Mac fanboy, but honestly I think OBS is better on Windows. There are many more options for plugins and other supplemental apps for streaming on the Windows side. Sorry I haven’t done much testing of computer options but I hope that helps a bit!

    Great tutorial and NICE setup! I use Teams live events a lot and now looking into if i can use OBS studio to get more ready content. How do you connect them to each other? Do you use it as third part streamer in Teams? I tried to use VirtualCam for content and Virtual Cable for sound but think the sound its a bit tricky to handle..

      Thanks Oscar! For this event, I chose the external encoder option so it would give me an RTMP address to sent from OBS. I'm in the same situation where I'm trying to figure out how to get a more produced experience from OBS but use Teams Encoding. A few other encoders such as vMix, xSplit, and Wirecast can do this quite easily because they have a virtual camera/audio output but OBS does not.
      I've tried the virtual camera and virtual cable option you mentioned and that works pretty well but agree it's kind of complex to set up. I've also been trying to use the OBS-NDI plugin since that will carry video and audio to NDI. I've then used NDI Virtual Input to grab that feed and put it into Teams. Unfortunately I can't get the audio to be heard on the attendee side. I know the audio works because I can hear it when sending to UA-cam or another destination. I also notice that the microphone "bars" in Teams indicate that audio is coming into the client...but for some reason it doesn't make it all the way to the Teams Service and out to the attendee's speakers. I'm still trying to figure that out, but I'm concerned that I may have to go the virtual camera and virtual cable route. Also unfortunately neither of these options work when the producer is using a Mac.

    John,
    I love your Tips videos! I'm hoping that you can advise me.... I've used teams successfully to host business meetings with between 4-20 people. Now, I want to plan a virtual business meeting for about 350 professionals. My agenda would be to start with a few powerpoint slides, maybe a a brief video or two, then organize multiple 10-15 minute segments where the screen would show a musician playing a song from her/his home or studio, then switch back to specific groups of 4 people who can talk about them selves 3-4 minutes each. What do you think?

    • @CollabMoore
      @CollabMoore  4 роки тому

      Hi Frank, thanks for your comments! You can definitely do this but it hinges on if those 350 professionals are external to your company or if they're internal to the company. If they're internal, then I think I'd recommend doing "external encoding" like this video shows. With that you'd be able to just use OBS, Wirecast, vMix, or other encoding software and you can lay out the panelists any way you'd like and have multiple scenes. If the attendees are external to the company then it's quite a bit harder to pull off. I've been trying OBS Virtual Camera and it works pretty well on Windows but the audio output has been difficult. I've been able to get it working with an app called Virtual Audio Cable but it isn't super reliable in my experience and just makes me nervous.
      What you may look at for a virtual camera option are a couple apps that I don't have a ton of experience with:
      - Wirecast can do a virtual camera output without extra plugins
      - ManyCam does virtual camera and would be quite a bit cheaper than Wirecast
      - Ecamm Live I think does virtual camera output and has some really cool looking features. I'm not sure but this might be Mac only software.
      I'm sure there's a bunch of other ideas that I hope others can chime in and give as well. I hope these help or at least point you in a direction where there might be some cool options using Teams as the platform.
