One of the most impactful moments of the movie is when Major Adams realized that this mission wasn’t exactly what she wanted or hoped for, but she swallowed her pride and made the best of it. These women were so successful that they completed the mission in half the allotted time, which was considered impossible to accomplish. “No mail, low morale”

@@azmadeclutch9666 Have you ever served in the military?? I’m asking because when I was in basic we werent allowed to use our phones so the only way we could contact anyone was through the mail, there was a girl that got a letter in the male everyday from her man and she was always happy!. Those who didn’t had issues and some were even placed on suicide watch. You’d be surprised was mail did for morale in 2009 so I could only imagine what it did for men during WWII!

@laurencameron3150, I understand where you're coming from having volunteered, served, and retired from the United States Navy Submarine Fleet. I served during the time that smartphones didn't exist and receiving a letter while being isolated in boot camp was a blessing and morale booster to hear from family, while going through such a culture shock over that period of time in the military. It really was incredible to receive mail at the pier, during a major deployment from family after being at sea for such a long period of time on a "shark of steel" on a global scale.

The Triple Six is a very wonderful movie. Thanks Tyler Perry for this production. Women of color provided a lot of support during that time of need for WWII. Wonderful actors and thanks to all the service women who provided their feedback on how they survived the War. 😀

Loved hearing the reading of these love letters. This was a powerful and insightful movie! I believe the women of 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion played a crucial role in the US winning WWII.
They were sent to distribute mail in Feb. 1945 and they cleared 17 million pieces of mail in 90 days. By Sept. 1945 the US had won WWII.
I think soldiers hearing from family back home reminded them who they were fighting for, which not only boosted their morale but gave them strength to continue fighting.

Nowadays, men who write like that would be called a simp. At the end of the day, when you love a woman, the words you put on that paper that’s heartfelt and meaningful…it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks. And it’s telling of these beautiful sistas that women still love to be romanced by said words. Maybe that’s a little old fashioned. But sometimes (with that right person), it still works.

This was beautiful. I love love letters and writing them. This was too short! They should have given you at least 30 minutes to dedicate to this. But this was a brilliant idea and spotlight of emotional expression for the cast, the film, history, and those 'invisible' people who those letters represent. This helps us understand also what was at stake in the Six Triple Eight saving the day as they did with the vital correspondence these soldiers and their families needed. This is so awesome, I'm just loving all of the appearance (promotional) tours I'm following Kerry, the cast, Tyler, and the producers on. This film and its history have grown such a bigger life that finally gives appropriate respect and honor to the heroines of the SIX Triple Eight! I'm ready to put up posters, artwork, portraits, and images of them in my office and home.

This takes me back to my Army days... the moments when I was waiting for mail call. It was the highlight of my week. There was no social media back then when I was in and if we did get a chance to call home, we had to use calling cards, and there was a 50/50 chance that you would catch your family at home, depending on the time zone, because there were no cell phones. I can only imagine the turmoil those soldiers and family members went through during WWII. God bless all who served, the families that support the servicemen and women, and the legendary women of the 6888th BN. I SALUTE YOU! 😭💌HOOAH💪🏾❤❤❤❤

What a tribute to understand freedom, discipline and resilience as women warriors and faith in God for strength. I have to admit the Netflix movie really hit the mark on explaining how "The African-American Women of the Army Corp" were treated by way of the research of Tyler Perry, who brought the story back to life on the streaming service for the whole world to see for themselves in the moment. It reminds me of the big screen flick "Red Tails" about the forgotten African-American pilots who risked their lives during the air bombings on the continent of Europe during World War II.

The letters demonstrate a relationship between mental development and writing. I’m convinced that the importance of communicating oneself via the written word resulted in people having a more intentional relationship with words and using a broader vocabulary. God forbid you don’t use a colloquial word today…folks will call you “too formal” as if it using descriptive and alternative words was an insult and social faux pas. (Simple language for simple minded people, imo.)

If only Perry could have gotten out of the way of his vision, the movie would have been 100% better. I couldn’t get over the fact that there wasn’t any explanation as to how they were able to organize, sort and deliver the mail to the men. And do it not in 6 months but 90 days. That’s the story, not the half baked love stories.

I think the movie was great, but I get what you’re saying. I think there may not be specific facts available, about how they actually got it done, as you’ve mentioned. I say that because since watching the movie, I’ve watched so many old interviews of the actual woman, who were apart of the WAC. They pretty much have the same story and don’t go into deep detail. It seems Tyler may have kept it strictly factual based off his research about this topic, because the movie literally lines up with all the interviews from these amazing women.

Imagine a people who contributed so little to America that a story of them doing the post gets a movie.

Contributed so little to America??? 😂😂😂 I’m going to assume you are about 7 years old and don’t know much about history. Go play with toys dear. Get off the internet. By the way, they sorted thru thousands of mail and had them delivered ahead of time because other incompetents groups could never.
