Eastern, Western, Northern, North-Eastern and Southern Indian cuisines are super different from one another in terms of spices, styles, presentation and even the basic style of cooking.

My comfort food is Karnataka food with simple lentils and vegetables. It's so incredibly healthy! May be some chapati at night to reduce the carbs, but otherwise it's so incredibly healthy. That is a different level of cooking. It's so complex and refined. To make something that's so basic so delicious and edible is just insane. These guys are looking for flash, with all that cheese, oils, etc. It's so short sighted, simple and lacks that forward thinking. I'm a huge foodie and I cook a lot of different cuisines at home, some of which rival even the best in the industry and it stuns me how these guys are so incredibly narrow minded and stuck in their ways. In the earlier seasons, they seem to want to steer Alvin into the "tough, mean judge" role like Gordon Ramsey, which he can't really do convincingly. In later seasons they let him calm down and be himself and he more naturally falls into the "tough love, snarky judge" role. The three judges end up being more chill and natural in the later seasons and it really sets itself apart from the drama of the US version.
I honestly cannot watch MasterChef USA because of all the drama. Always a sob story, always over the top editing and shouting. Just give me MasterChef New Zealand or something.

This is true in Chinese, Indian, Korean, and even many central Asian countries. Likewise, European dishes share some common aspects of cooking; even comparing France to Russia. I don't think it is obtuse to put Asian cuisine into one category in this context. I think on a global scale, there is a lot more variety to be had which was what the guy was looking for. There are 5 other continents to pick from after all... Of course no one would say "skip Europe" because that is the style of cooking that is dominant in Canada so it would just sound weird. He might say something like "I think it's time for more cultural variety", suggesting that their style is TOO familiar.

What they should do is keep every master chef in a seperate room while each judges the dish and see if any of them disagree. Everytime the first chef likes the food the other chefs follow suit.

In first season, the judges were trying to feel like their US counterparts, but as the show grew, you'll see their real charisma and you'd see that they're actually very nice!

Yes, that means the dish is good but masterchef has to be about being skilled in many different techniques and styles of cooking. All this woman had made up to that point was asian-style dishes with sweet and sour sauces and those kind of flavors from Asia.

@@jbunit2 this woman is only able to do cuisines from 3 of the most recognised styles in the world that are completely distinct apart from geographically, must be a bad chef. do you think he wouldve made it a point to call her out if she did norwegian, malay and french cuisines? cuz both sets of 3 have about as much as common when looking from a food perspective, which is literally the only perspective relevant to a cooking show. you really need to search up chinese indian and japanese food, put them side by side and try to find as many similarities as you can. you wont get very far.
Imagine being a "world-class chef" and not acknowledging that Asia probably has the most diverse cuisine in the world.
