I actually really like the idea of having the job be at max level (or have the level be the amount of spell you have, not stat gain, purely visual). I do want to say that there is something that makes the process of leveling/learning spells MUCH easier, BLU Discords. There's one for every DC as well as the one that I mostly interact with that's CROSS DATA CENTER, Blue Academy. These Discords all have lfg channels that a LOT of people will sometimes just help out with stuff if you just ping a specific role. PF is quite good to get the spells, most of the times you don't need to wait that much (atleast when I did it 1 month ago). I hated the job until they introduced to get spells guaranteed if whole party is synced. It's quite the QoL job tbh. The game WILL force you to do low lvl content (like yokai watch event) and doing that with BLU is so much better than with normal jobs. Don't forget that a BLU has 4 times the burst than a lvl 80 job so you can do Wondrous Tails so much faster. You can easily kill all lvl 50 extremes without any going invuln.

Honestly if you’re trying to play a generic MMO don’t try blue mage. But if you’re trying to play a Final Fantasy game, this is the go-to. Blue mage is a recurring job or battle system throughout final fantasy series, learning skills from monsters just had me so much fun in every FF that has this mechanics. and the idea of being completely useless at first to being broken is very rewarding imo.
the most fun I've had as blue mage has been doing the omega raids and getting a morbol, but to do either of those things you have to do all this pre prep of clearing all the carnivals (bc you need the ilvl on your useless stick for materia), learning at LEAST 101 spells, and then finding seven whole other people that are just as crazy as you. oh, and if you want BiS you need to finish at least 80% of eureka OR grind out o12s, you know, currently the hardest irrelevant content unsynced. i absolutely love the class + the friends I've made playing it but i understand hating it all
I've known about the means tro power level, but I never can find anyone willing to do it, even when I offer to do it for them in return. So yeah, stuck leveling it the ungodly slow way.
I don't get the hate, i actually really enjoy playing blu. Finding people to run content with is easy if you join a couple of the blue mage discords. Everyone hates on it for not being able to do current content instead of just having fun.
I think people hate it a lot of times for even more petty reasons. Not just the fact it's not up to current tier content. Most of the hate I see is that they consider it recycling content or hate the fact that it can eventually basically solo everything. There is a big aversion against solo content outside of deep dungeons I've noticed. I think it just opens to door to content people thought they wouldn't be able to do imo because they struggle gettinggroups for the content in the first place Like many people in FF make fun of WoW for the fact you can just go back and solo all content. Which that is basically what blu mage is for FF
It's fun when it's set up, but as someone currently into his 4th session of wiping bahamut 1 hitting our "tank", it gets a lot less neat when you try to use it for anything other than running dungeons very fast
Hopefully people see this. I know it is great to check an instance of blue mage log. But for synced learning parties it is just so much better to bring a healer and maybe a tank. The cooldown on blue mage raise is criminally long. Blue mages get no limit break. These are the choices I have seen wipe or run again. But a few runs with healer they save swift cast and pop those dirt nappers up like a boss. A limit break 3 saved my omega run healer saved till under 5% and popped everyone up just in time to learn spell.
Condensed Libra isn't really used any more, it's not worth the GCD especially when DPS mimics don't have enough slots to put in 3 different filler spells.
Depends on the approach, I leveled getting my spells and always prefer to solo vs a party but I take every chance I get to turn around and help others whether BLU or not because that is the real beauty of BLU. The class was intended to be a fun class with a direction that was unique and due to its power and versatility it makes soloing content fairly easy. So therefore why not turn around and help classes through dungeons with it? Unsynced for completion or synced for xp. BLU is capable of doing both if you know how to use your spells right.
There have been very few things as a BLU that I couldn't solo.. some of the 70 content and Fist of the Son.. since it has a tank swap mechanic. But I suppose if you were crafty enough or went tank spec you might even have been able to solo that.
Tis why it is important to get all the overworld spells first before dungeon spells because you can do acorn bomb > sticky tongue > attack strategies to murder enemies one at a time and bad breath + toad oil for maximum evasion early on... etc
1000 needles is an easy spell to get if you level yourself to 30 first then get it at Southern Thanalan or Eastern Thanalan and with it and the sleep + sticky tongue combo you can one shot or two shot most enemies early on
i think the best remedy for blue mages problem would be simply to add another 2 or 3 limited jobs. make more content for them and more limited jobs to do that stuff with them and it wouldn't feel like such an odd man out. ideally one limited job for each role would be good.
"it takes half an hour to grind to 70 on a beach in kholusia" i did it legit solo and got up to 50 on my own, only asking for help when i needed glower from aurum vale god that was a waste of time
morbol mount is my favorite mount in the game, not only is it rare because nobody plays blue mage, its actually challenging to do and I felt really accomplished for doing it. Both the rarity and sense of accomplishment makes the mount feels so special to me. Good luck on your journey. I think finding a group that plays blue mage and is actually decent enough at the game to ge tthe morbol mount is half the battle.
Recently started blue mage and got all the spells likely because of the surge of players from wow that tried out blue content. So thankful for their help so I didn't have to wait for an actual update lol
It is possible to solo Dragon’s Neck. You gotta mimic healer and just wail on them all with ARR primal skills and stand in the middle when a typhoon goes achoo.
I'll do you one better! I learned both actions from Dragon's Neck by bursting one of the two down so they can't do the Imp murder part together. Then you just sit around till the timer goes off for them to do their signature move, kill them, rinse and repeat. Works for both bosses!
@@haha-on5fd Leveling, even solo, doesn't take long at all - not sure what all the fuss is about. Plus you gain a big chunk of xp for every spell you learn. People powerlevel thinking they're saving time or grind or something but it's such a laughable "grind" I've never bothered to ask for help.

Tis why it is important to get all the overworld spells first before dungeon spells because you can do acorn bomb > sticky tongue > attack strategies to murder enemies one at a time and bad breath + toad oil for maximum evasion early on... etc
Or Ink Jet
Blindness + Higher Evasion means a lot of attacks might miss
1000 needles is an easy spell to get if you level yourself to 30 first then get it at Southern Thanalan or Eastern Thanalan and with it and the sleep + sticky tongue combo you can one shot or two shot most enemies early on
Congratulations on 50k! Totally deserved, love your videos :D cheers
what would even be another limited job? Onion knight from ff3, Mascot or festivalist from ffx-2, Mimic from ff5?
I've so far watched all your class guides, yet have never played ff xiv. Gotta say you're pretty entertaining.
i think the best remedy for blue mages problem would be simply to add another 2 or 3 limited jobs. make more content for them and more limited jobs to do that stuff with them and it wouldn't feel like such an odd man out. ideally one limited job for each role would be good.
"it takes half an hour to grind to 70 on a beach in kholusia" i did it legit solo and got up to 50 on my own, only asking for help when i needed glower from aurum vale
god that was a waste of time
Crafting and gathering tier list and guides when?
Morbol Mount for the win.
You can instagib that goobbue boss with 2 missiles.
Very accurate thumbnail
Screw the glamour, the Morbol mount is the only reason I'm halfway playing playing BLU when there is nothing else to do. Also, Mahjong Guide when?
morbol mount is my favorite mount in the game, not only is it rare because nobody plays blue mage, its actually challenging to do and I felt really accomplished for doing it.
I picked up Blu mage last Friday and managed to get all 104 spells and the "Violets are Violet" weapon in a little over 2 days
you gotta get the spells when there new , i left it late to get garuda , and i took a while beofre i basicly held a group hostage
I’ve leveled 4 characters to 70 BLU and learned most spells on all of them just for the fun of it, ask me anything.
how long did it take
@@haha-on5fd Leveling, even solo, doesn't take long at all - not sure what all the fuss is about. Plus you gain a big chunk of xp for every spell you learn. It's a matter of hours from 1-50, maybe 10-12 hours total to 70. People powerlevel thinking they're saving time or grind or something but it's such a laughable "grind" I've never bothered to ask for help.
leveling with a friend reduces it to 20% of the time
How are you feeling? Are you okay? Do you need a hug?
Why

Mahjong Guide when? Also, any advice on chocobo breeding for the Gold Saucer?
I have Mighty Guard, and I have Basic Instinct.... when I cast Basic Instinct, how do I know it activated?
There is no sustained icon, like Mighty Guard.
That's because Basic Instinct only works when doing duties meant for 2 or more players while doing it alone.
@@caoz9375 Gotcha, thank you for explaining
you my friend, are hilarious. love your guides.
ngl, I felt personally attacked by that poetics ring thing, as I've wasted poetics not realizing that before, lol
Condensed Libra doesn't make the cut anymore thankfully so we don't have to worry about filler spells either as much in synched savage content
My favorite class in any other ff game, is my most hated in 14.
BLUE MAGE BABY LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
When you run a dungeon unsynched with others every blue mage has a chance to proc the learning of the spell and if any of them proc everyone learns it. So run unsynch with as many blues as you can
Or run level synced undersized party and get a guaranteed learn ;)
@@Raven3557 i think you'd hardly be surprised at the average Blu pick up groups performance on Shiva extreme for glass dance when it's synched lol
@@CenKyne yeah there's that xD
Can you do a Carpenter Guide?
And they still don't go all out on the spells BLU can have. No Behemoth skills like Meteor or Charybdis. No Shin-Zantetsuken from Odin. No Gigaflare or Terraflare from Bahamut.
Which is hilarious because NPC BLUE MAGES CAN LITERALLY USE METEOR AND CHARYBDIS.
For very obvious reasons. Can you imagine the visual clutter from a group of BLU with those spells? Not pretty.
my bf got the blu 70 job gear and it seems to have awakened some things in him
you CAN solo The Dragon's Neck (uncomfortably). it got considerably easier once i got a rhythm going, but yeah, literally sucks
Was going for the morbol mount and made it as far as a8s before people gave up. Now sitting at 4/6 clears with no hope of finishing because no one else is dumb and masochistic enough to do blu savage :/
There are people doin it tho, I’m in a static rn doing it. If you’re on primal hmu I’d be down to run it with you.
@@BmoBeemo thanks for the offer! I guess the issue is since I'm in Elemental it's harder to find English speaking players doing blu
Reason to play Blue: because it’s fun as fuck.
Where is the link to your Twitch?
Gear sets? Gear sets??? GEAR SETS???? *FFXI BLU Flashbacks intensify*
ITV A chair loses his mind because Blue Mage exists.

XI player here, can confirm this is accurate.
