It's the harmony. I never found it fitting for ABBA's style. Cody's voice is also more suitable for the chords, and this style. And yeah, this IS the better of the two versions. I just hate the fact that we heard that second chorus just once. It's completely out of this world.

This reminded me of Lee Glasson's haunting version of 'Can't get you out of my head'. Voices sound different but Cody and Lee made catchy songs into their own mesmerising and chilling versions.

I’ve watched a ridiculous amount of blind auditions both for usa and uk, but there wasn’t a single one that had captured me more than this one. It’s so haunting, so raw, I’ve listened to it so many times and I can’t keep myself from coming back

I always thought that ABBA song had a slightly sinister melody, it's like twisting ABBA with early MCR. I really like the slightly breathy sounding parts particularly. She told a story, this is fresh!

shes got a girlfriend called alex i used to work in the same place as her
Y'know, Abba continue to amaze me! Perhaps the song was written to be performed like this rather than the rather saccharine disco feel of the original. Cody is a star in waiting, a bit of a rough diamond at present, but perhaps her personality will suit Boy George, who can be a bit, um, feisty and outrageous himself. When Cody had to bring the intensity back a little by using her head voice (difficult to hear under the cutaway to understandably excited relatives), I wasn't sure she knew what she was doing. But she reached the same notes by belting it out later, so a wee bit of coaching on control and managing the split and she should be fine. I think she can shine in the battles. In fact, she was probably made for it! So, another one to watch I think.

She is definitely going to need lots of help from the voice behind the scene vocal instructor and her coach. I watched 5 of her other performances on her own channel and I believe this was her best performance. As you said, she is a diamond in the rough and has the potential. It all comes to her dedication and willingness for hard work and the song choices by boy George at this point.

Incredibly haunting version of one of my favourite Abba songs. I always felt there was a dark edge to the lyrics of 'Lay All Your Love on Me' & this girl brought it out. Wise choice of coach too; her & Boy George could be a match made in heaven. At least she didn't follow the other youngsters who seemed to dismiss him out of hand, "They probably think I'm one of the Wombles or something!"
