  • during this tdf I am rewinding all my singles before plying to see if it really makes that much of a difference to the finished yarn. This is the set-up I am using to do it: a lazy kate, EEW yarn counter, and slightly modified EEW6.0

In Maurice’s video about rewinding on the 6 he had to use a rubber band around one end of the bobbin to stop the bearings from turning - how did you get around this? The band doesn’t look very nice and I’m trying to avoid it. I have ordered an extra rod and bearings

my method avoids using the rubber band as i am turning the bobbin directly with the drive band. Maurice turns another printed part which is firmly attached to the shaft, so he also needs the bobbin to not move relative to the shaft.

I can't remember where i got the rod, probably ebay, I then designed and 3d printed all the extra bits to let it fit properly myself.

      @@vampyyy would a 3D printed rod work ?

@@roselorrainelaithier6843 probably not, if it were printed vertically it would be very prone to snapping, if printed horizontally i'm not sure it would be smooth enough. You could probably find a knitting needle or something else similar instead though
