This book, “Foundations xxxx” costs $150 from Moore, but from about $500 used, and up to $1,150 new from eBay or Amazon. Crazy! I had hoped to get a digital copy which is how I get most books these days, but unfortunately Moore’s aren’t available that way. It’s interesting that while nice to know, modern equipment lessens the need for many of these techniques. A DRO has eliminated much of what I learned and used for decades, in a tiny fraction of the time (and cost). That’s just one example most of us use every day. My first machine book: my father’s book “Modern Machine Tools”. 1903. I read that so many times it completely fell apart.
I too really enjoy older texts, particularly with engravings. I have my own library of 25 or so books, but it looks like you have quite the collection. I know it's an enormous undertaking, but have you considered digitizing at least the rarer books? I'm in love with the vintage machinery website, it's such a great reference to have especially as these manuals disappear. I would be willing to scan and upload anything I have of use, any thoughts?
I have. I recently purchased a Johanssen Gage blog catalog from around 1919 and uploaded a digital copy to Keith's site. I have considered doing more, but it is an huge undertaking.
Thanks for this video, very informative. I’m a tool & die apprentice and have to seek this stuff out myself now since the journeymen/mentors in my company left due to horrible corporate mismanagement. I only have one year on my contract so I’m trying to make the best out of this situation. Entering the raffle!
Thank you Robert this video will Be evidence when my wife tells me I have to many car books ! Please put me in the draw to see if I win my first prize ! From down Under
Ive read most of Foundations of mech accuracy and it was very much worth the time. Another worthwhile one was “Metallurgy for bladesmiths” which is easy to find a pdf of on the internet and goes over steel & iron metallurgy. I would love to be entered in the book raffle, thanks very much!
That is an excellent idea. I always forget to put the notes in the comment section. I usually have a cue of videos and they are often posted quite a few weeks after they are shot.

@@DudleyToolwright I didn't go to trade school. I mostly learned how to machine from reading books.
There's a great channel that goes over this stuff in detail, called "Machine Thinking"--- he doesn't have very many videos, but they are top notch.
Isn't that a great channel. Like you said he doesn't make many videos but when he does it's worth the wait.
