This is amazing. The video is not confusing. The song is about repetition, frustration, anger, doing the same thing day after day after day and not knowing what to do. The bird is a metaphor for someone that is out of place and who doesn't fit in the hectic world we live in.
@@ScreaminbeaminI actually bought the album the same year it came out 2010 or 2011. I was a depressed 17 year old at the time. 31 now and getting better 😊
This song is the most nostalgic in the most special towards me, because that was when I went trick-or-treating with my father, when I was still in Texas before we move to Colorado, and that’s the only time when I would spend Halloween with him, brings back so many good memories, going through a lot of family issues, and this song is just the one that always comforts me my whole life, I would listen to it over and over like in a “circle”😢
yessir. ...a decade ago we walked the great ocean road with this and dead letter circus blasting of a nokia! walked for hours after a new years party. best and worst night. nostalgia is a bitch
Last time you guys came to the us, my grandmother saw you in Houston, almost ten years has gone by since she passed and I count the days that I can see you guys here❤
I'm from Australia, and I think that Birds of Tokyo are the best West Australian band. In some parts of Australia you do find a couple bird man people, this one is famous actor, you can really see the sadness on his face.
I'm being followed by my shadow He's been creeping around Asking where I've been He keeps tapping on my shoulder Telling me it's over So where do I begin? These dark days are getting harder I feel I'm treading water So will I sink or swim Roll on, push a little further I keep saying is this worth it Or should I just give in I don't know I don't know which way I'm supposed to spin In this circle And I won't waste my time on your concern 'Til it's over I look back on a distant border I fear I'm getting older There's so much that I missed Walk on following a fate line See if I can define Where I came undone I don't know which way I'm supposed to spin In this circle And I won't waste my time on your concern 'Til it's over And I will wait my turn My time will come This ain't over And I can't wait no more No sweet return This is over So it is (No sweet return) So it is (No sweet return) So it is (No sweet return) So it is (No sweet return) This is over.

You should check out the band he was in previously, it's called Karnivool. I reckon you'll love it. Their albums "Themata" and "Sound Awake" are amazing
Holy shit, 10 years late to the party. Better late than never I guess! I had no idea the Karnivool singer had another band, I really liked them from back in the day.
It seems there is some confusion as to where this is shot. It is shot in and around Las Vegas. Note the Vega skyline at 2:50 and the Hoover Dam Bypass at 1:53.
The hotel is at the southern end of the Vegas strip its a real dump. Looks the same now as it did back when this clip was shot. This is the best song BOT has came out with. Sorry guys but your latest songs dont have the emotion circles has. Great song and for those who understand it a great film clip.
Can't you just tell that Ian came up this idea. :) I love it though. The false cetto in the chorus starts to sounds almost bird-like with the visual aid.
I like how this video has the same concept as Bring Me the Horizon's "The Comedown": A humanoid creature trying to make its way in a human world. Only difference is BMTH chose a monstrous alien, while BoT chose a bird XD
Does anyone know what the "original" music video's song meaning is? (EDC - Pássaros) Is it in Portugese or something? For me, the BOT version fits in perfectly with the actual meaning of the song.
@Pengi67676 I think it's just representative of the fact that the man/bird doesn't fit in right. They probably just used a bird as the symbol because of their band name.
it made me sad for the bird, it isn't fair that just cause he's different he should be lonely. I wanted him to find a friend or something at the end. Being different isn't a bad thing, I would prefer to be me and be alone. Differences made us unique. You were born an individual, don't die a copy. "You laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you cause you're all the same" - Lady GaGa
@rodr1gosm1le Hmm I saw the vid of that other band (not sure which language they're singing in), but I just want to say that I loved that track, so thanks for hooking me up! I mean, this tune is great, but I actually preferred the eagle one!

*Interesting...*
And depression too I think... But yes, nailed it ;)
FINALLY, I FOUND THE SONG THAT HAS BEEN HAUNTING MY CHILDHOOD MY WHOLE LIFE, AND I STILL LOVE IT!!!!🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
Same! I remember this song from like 10 years ago and I've been trying to find it forever

@@Nutsferatu29 and still depressed 😂
this song/video deserves way more views.
It really does
I know right?! Let's keep sharing it :)

Haunting. I didn't even know this song had a music video, but now I think I'm never going to be able to hear it the same way again.
This is such a beautiful song from a brilliant album.
best aussie band since INXS
Bloody oath mate
Yea, definitely my fav Aussie band - Powderfinger though, don't forget about ol' Powderfinger.
true
Nah his other band Karnivool) Is better. look at "All i know"
indeed. How they never reached fame in the US Bush is anyone's guess. 2021 and they are a classic.
best aussie band period. i love you guys. keep on creating. march fires changed my life.
One of my all time favorite songs...
Home and Away picks great music. Love this song. :)
This song has been up for over 10 years ... I feel old!

I'm from the UK, and how come this song is underrated like seriously
One of my favourite songs of all time
Definitely my favourite birds of tokyo song.
I Want More Birds Of Tokyo
I'm from Australia, and I think that Birds of Tokyo are the best West Australian band. In some parts of Australia you do find a couple bird man people, this one is famous actor, you can really see the sadness on his face.
This song was a song on Home and Away. it so matches it.
Very underated song. I miss the times when this song used to play in MTV :(
This song is like Tycho, with lyrics. Such a calm, powerful, emotional song.
can relate so much to this song
Top tune from a top band, simple as!
I'm being followed by my shadow
He's been creeping around
Asking where I've been
He keeps tapping on my shoulder
Telling me it's over
So where do I begin?
These dark days are getting harder
I feel I'm treading water
So will I sink or swim
Roll on, push a little further
I keep saying is this worth it
Or should I just give in
I don't know
I don't know which way I'm supposed to spin
In this circle
And I won't waste my time on your concern
'Til it's over
I look back on a distant border
I fear I'm getting older
There's so much that I missed
Walk on following a fate line
See if I can define
Where I came undone
I don't know which way I'm supposed to spin
In this circle
And I won't waste my time on your concern
'Til it's over
And I will wait my turn
My time will come
This ain't over
And I can't wait no more
No sweet return
This is over
So it is
(No sweet return)
So it is
(No sweet return)
So it is
(No sweet return)
So it is
(No sweet return)
This is over.
Thank you!
@keybirdking think you should have left your comment here says exactly what most of us are thinking! Much love to all the Birds
Great. Reminds me the Steven Wilson's "Harmony Korine" video.
Very touching song! Feels relatable with a Traumatic past . CPtsd sufferer
@Quickanator I agree - this song had me hooked and pulls at your heart strings from the get go....I love it...
this song is amazing. I can't believe it isn't big yet, i feel that this is by far their best song :)

The ending is like an ear orgasm :) no sweet return.. till this is over
This song is used in Episodes of Home And Away quite often. That's where i first heard it.
One of the best things about home and away is it's respect for Australian music.
Also notice that they use London Grammar songs too sometimes even though they are not Australian which is good.
Episode 5330 u can first hear it when Casey walks into the sea. Brilliant.
I live in Australia tyvm.
Sick song!!

That bird is basically me
This song reminds me of Karnivool soooo much .
What an amazing singer Ian Kenny is .

@GSratm the bird mask is for birds of tokyo
@rockchapelboy92 haha did you find it through home and away too ?? :D
Can anyone tell me the name of the bridge in the video please?
Cheers :-)

The real, untold story and the sadness of "Budgie Smuggling".

😊😊😊
Why are Australian bands so damn good?
Where was this filmed?
EDC?
Story of my life
call me crazy but it could have been a form of inspiration as i highly doubt a video with a birdman is their career defining moment.
@littlelionkid I know u can understand... BTW, congrats for ur perfect english. Peace!!
OH MY GOSH IM SCARED NOW =O
@Pengi67676 I think it's just representative of the fact that the man/bird doesn't fit in right. They probably just used a bird as the symbol because of their band name.
At 0:53 he realises that the phone isn't going to reach his beak and mouth at the same time.
My fave from the album, great song, quality sound could be better

He's Taheen
a day on the life of a bird of a tokyo ?
