An excellent introduction to Kaizen! It has a bit of history, theory and great examples. I am a student of Kaizen/TPS and I think this is one of the best introductory videos I've seen. There is so much to this topic as you say, things like SMED, Poka-Yoke and Andon but just simple, small changes often have great benefits. Thanks, and keep them coming :)

Mick, thank you. I'm about to upload a length chapter by chapter series on the brilliance of Japanese efficiency (the basic principles). Uploading chapter one in about 7 days.

Enjoyed! Geeky, but right up my alley. I retired from Chicago to Kamakura after 41 years in tech industry with Japanese! Banzai!!!!!!

I have read several books years back on kaizen. your video explaining Kaizen philosophy is short and straight to the point. Will start implements small changes to gain results.

Thanks! The key is tiny, tiny changes and then measure the results. Actions so small that it's impossible to lose money or make costly mistakes.

Thank you very for your very useful video and I am going to learn from this video many times and from your other videos too. I am learning Kaisen and want to apply the concept for my Food Forest project in Cambodia.

Apple made small changes but yearly and they were critisized!

No, I don't think you understand the 'small changes' and how they apply. Apple most certainly doesn't use Kaizen.

Great video. Very informative with regards to the Kaizen philosophy. However, I believe the video fails to present Masaaki Imai's contributions to the philosophy, namely the founding of the Kaizen Institute. If my research is correct, W. Edwards Demming introduced standards of quality to Japan. His teachings emphasized quality and proper management. Whereas Masaaki Imai introduced the idea of continuous improvement. Masaaki's method of Kaizen was used to achieve Demming's standards of quality.

I failed to add a lot of things. :) I have to make decisions what to keep in and not keep in to ensure the video isn't 45 minutes long. I wanted to mention the Kaizen Institute, Masaaki Imai, Edwards Deming's struggles and refinement of Kaizen as well as Gemba, Muda, Kobestsu Kaizen, 5S, Cross-functional mgmnt, etc. But I have to keep the videos basic for beginners and not too long. Thank you again for your comment.

Absolutely awesome video and very inspiring. I got the impression there was going to be more content relating to Kaizen. Is that still happening?.

Thank you, Paul. Yes, I'm actually working on another video now (should be completed in about two weeks) regarding the next phase of Japanese brilliance...named 'Ikigai.'
