    The front left tie rod indeed broke @02:26 when he blasted the train track. The car that amazingly spun off of the train tracks was repaired, it appears to be the same vehicle.

    Broke the steering arm when the car hit the train tracks, used the second chase vehicle to complete the chase going by the different front end panel damage

      @That_AMC_Guy 2 роки тому +2

      Yeah, that part looked really odd. Obviously, broke the steering and control arm but good. Obviously an accident left in the film. But what was the original intention? Was the stunt driver supposed to launch the car off that stack of railroad ties?? That little section stands out as one painful blooper in an otherwise well-choreographed car chase.

    Virtually all of those Plymouths were retired from fleets by 1973. About 30 were destroyed in "Gone In 60 Seconds" which came out the next year. You could buy one at an auction for $300 or even less back then.

  • @digitalmagicAR

    That ramp at 2:17 through the glass was risky since the car had to land and then make a turn out of the parking lot with a parked car in the path. If the landing damaged the car it might not be able to turn at all and thus plow straight into the car. As it were, it appears it may have still not fully made the turn without colliding since they cut the shot.
    This was a fantastic chase and made a not so cool Plymouth sedan actually look pretty muscular. I remember the first time I heard this on TV at home. I heard what sounded like a chase so I went in the room and watched it. Then looked it up in the guide so I could try to record it next time it aired.

    To be honest, I don't think that the Plymouth could match the Honda CB500 Four's 5 second 0-60 time or 14 second 1/4 mile. These little 4 cylinder Hondas packed about 50 hp in about a 400 lb bike, so the Plymouth would need over 400 hp to match the power to weight ratio of the Honda. That being said, it would come down to the driver's skill.

That better 70 to 75 years old now for her age. I know they could pick up that car for 25 to 50 bucks back then. But why do they have tear up a 63 Chevy? No “old” sedan could do this either, spark plug.

      The "old" sedan was wrecked and repaired at least 5 times for this chase sequence.
      Love how it repairs itself after each impact as if its Christine

      @@twoeightythreez I had a friend who'd get drunk and try this shit with his car, wrecked it every time. Any time you do a jump with a reg car it totally screws everything up.

    No cars of today could go through all that. The old ones were built like tanks and had style.

    • @twoeightythreez
      @twoeightythreez 5 років тому +1

      Those cars couldn't, either. They likely wrecked at least 5 cars filming this....and likely many more....5 is only the number of jumps and hits that obviously disabled the car. Ever wonder why old iron is so rare nowadays (despite MILLIONS BEIMG MADE)? Movies like these.

    Like the Ragaholic said “you do not fuck with Bronson” .
    I’d love to see the conversation between the director and stunt coordinator for this,
    Director: do we need to upgrade and reinforce the car?
    Coordinator: it’s a full size mopar, the car is a fuckin’ tank.

    Nice chase...!! Interesting thing is ,that this bandit or who is it ,started to escape (he is crazy,by the way,nobody can really escape to Charles Bronson,not even Chuck Norris !) on CB 750 ,but early changed this bike for CB 500 ( 2.59 ),maybe because it is notm so fast and this Plymouth can be in contact...??But I really love to see something like this...just good old times..!!
