To Dave, Thanks mate you are a star and are helping those of us who can't get to see these sights for ourselves, ( not yet anyway) to get a feel for the magic they still hold. I hope that you will be there when I eventually get over to Liddypool to see it all for myself.
Photographs clearly show a house & chimney behind trees in the photos of the Quarry Men playing the day of the fete. Shame we didn’t get to see the actual spot in this video. Others have managed it. 😊
i was shown round these gardens by graham the verger and it was great just be here were john and paul have walked and have read so much about this field in the past it was great to actually be there i just imagined what it was like that day in july 57 wish i could have been there but i would only have been 7 years old
Wow thanks man your amazing-someone who was there, so cool! I know a guy in his 80's who used to frequent the Cavern Club in the 50 & 60's when it was a jazz Club as he was in a Jazz band as a Trumpet player they had their meatings there, he remembers when the Beatles were on the Bill and he saw the Adds and photo's-meant nothing to him at the time. (O:
Americans GET LOST !!!!! He is a lovely guy and this is a part of English history that America can NEVER achieve . And never will. Long Liverpool and The Beatles . xxxx
just conjuring up the picture of a young paul on his bike with his mate Ivan in that field and theres John Lennon playing on stage with his young mates. Wow - history about to unfold. How could two such geniuses have been in the same place at the same time? Its quite unreal when you think about it.
Not to discredit the tour, but they played on the field on the other side of the bushes. Paul first saw john on the back of the truck not in the cemetary. I have been to that cemetary and there is an actual grave that is located in the middle that has elenor rigby on it. I have video of a different old timer telling the story about the grave. I think it wa featured in a lennon movie back around 2000
Dan B Spot on. That part of this tour at least is a sham. There's another clip on here showing building's in the shot of John on the stage that are still visible in the area that now has play ground equipment.
According to witness Ivan Vaughn who suggested to Paul that he check out The Quarrymen at the Woolton Church Fete, THE introductions took place at 6:38 PM that evening (7/6/1957). Beatles Forever!
I actually think it's really cool. The back of the church doesn't look like it did that day, so it's nice to have someone who was there provide the framework. I've been in the back of this churchyard and wondered where exactly it all was, so it's nice to hear. It doesn't make us stalkers...it makes us people who really appreciate where this stuff took place. If you don't care where they met, that's fine for you too, but no need to mock those of us who care.
i was at that grave yard at 10.30 tonight i live in liverpool its the first time ive been to it i found it lol RIP dave thanks for sharing your knowledge
@HINCHCLIFFE69 That's kind of interesting that the claim is Paul saw John, George & Pete Best playing when it was Paul who is said to have introduced John to his friend George and John was impressed with his playing because he knew all the chords to the song he "auditioned" for John.
Nice testimonial. I've always been curious about the whereabouts and status of the location where John and Paul met each other. With Beatles in mind, I've posted the video, "40 years in 3 minutes", which is a music video containing the Beatles' rooftop performance, historical events over the last 40 years and 8mm film antics from the period, all cut tightly to GET BACK and GLASS ONION. Hope you enjoy!
@scousethief i now Liverpool is famous cause of the Beatles. But there is the Titanic too. Is there some museum or stuff about the Titanic in Liverpool?
dave say's the stage is by the railing fence and a taxi tour told us the stage was by the house were dave stood i believe dave he's a legend RIP dave be careful who you choose to tour with some tour guides are just after your money and are abrupt and rude and also want to get you through the tour at a fast speed be careful
@scousethief i met him a few weeks ago what a lovely guy , they dont make them like that anymore ! highlight of my trip to liverpool . ps thats in the churchyard were eleanor rigby is buried .
not that I don't appreciate the posting, but, just to clarify, despite the title heading , this in fact is NOT where paul & john met., but where paul saw john, george & pete best play.; zat rite?.... and, were all the graves not there then??? they sure look old! I don't get it.
It’s where Paul watched John play with his original band the quarrymen, Paul and John met later that day across the road in the church hall, Paul joined johns band 2 weeks later and eventually over time they formed the Beatles with Pete best Stuart sutcliffe and George Harrison
dave peters!! bet u dont remember me, tony k.....anyway, there is a book on amazon kindle called john lennon's guitar, set here, and which i wrote. But under the name, anthony del porto. Is dave still around? sorry if not, remember your wife dot, and jason.
@@gunofapreacherman1340 Nope i lived there, worked there, and it is not a coincidence at all..do not try telling me when you don't know anything about it ..thanks
storyteller McCartney, chose Eleanor because of Eleanor Bron who the Beatles had worked with on Help and the Rigby part of the song came from Rigby & Evens Ltd, Wine & Spirit Shippers, which McCartney noticed while seeing Jane Asher, act in The Happiest Days of Your Life, in Bristol.
RIP Dave It Was Nice Meeting You Back Aug 2008 In the Village Hall Dave Explained All about The Day John Met Paul To Us He Was A Great Guy
Paul said that he had actually seen John before (in a bus) but they didn't talk
Thought it was a chippy .

The district is very beautiful.
Never once pointed the camera to where the guy was pointing. Amazing.

On the back of a truck is right... I knew this wasn't accurate :)
You're right, Dan B. Truck was not in that cemetary. Fatal mistake!
cemetery
The new cemetary wasnt there ,the stage where paul saw john play was behind the bushes. These people got scammed with wrong information
According to witness Ivan Vaughn who suggested to Paul that he check out The Quarrymen at the Woolton Church Fete, THE introductions took place at 6:38 PM that evening (7/6/1957). Beatles Forever!
i sit on that bench every sunday
Seriously?
@@brandmuller5012 yep seriously. Got bored with it lol.
i wonder if paul or ringo have done sneak visits back to this site

2 minutes in and all I've seen is an old guy in a blue shirt. You could have done that at home, you know......
I read about them meeting, and this is cool.
Great video...of absolute hallowed Beatle ground!
Why doesn't the person who is filming this point the camera at what the bloke is gesturing at instead of at his face

This is amazing.
Where John Lennon saw for first time Paul McCartney!
Nice old man BUT. When you come out the back of the church it was to right side towards the back of the field.
hallowed be thy place
@scousethief
i now Liverpool is famous cause of the Beatles. But there is the Titanic too. Is there some museum or stuff about the Titanic in Liverpool?
Yes, go to the Merseyside Maritime Museum at the Royal Albert Dock.
well not featured, but they showed the same grave.
So they didn't play while ON the wagon-that's news
I think they did played a bit but it was difficult on the back of a moving truck with no sides.
@DisneysDreamDebased yeah and the tree was probably a lot smaller 50 odd years ago too

@GralGrievous oops wrong video, sorry
So help me understand! They had a FETE on top of a graveyard? How? Seems alittle strange!
Who is the Man talking to the interviewer?
seems like a nice guy, seems like hes trying to be objective about it as well.
This is a drunk from a bar nearby
is it just me ? or is that one mouthy American ?? good god !
Didn't a mutual friend of john and paul ask paul if he wanted to come over and watch?
Pete shotton

The "OH" could be Paul but the other part is not even him, it could be John or George but not Paul, it's not his voice.
and McCartney still insists he didn't take eleanor rigby from here!! nonsense!!

@sgtpeppergreg
not all americans are like that. it's true. but the majority? Yes.
George and Pete Best? You have to revise your readings, man...
Who cares where they met? All that is relevant is that they did.
Ok, 1957 right? skiffle!
i say only Elenor Rigby f.....
This guy is talking absolute rubbish. The band played in the field on the other side of the bushes at the bottom of the graveyard.
Have some respect.
This guy....his accent...and he speaks a mile a minute!!! Or interviewer needs to speak less too.
Bulshit...
