A year or two ago a study claimed that half of those in Seattle make 50K or less a year. That used to be workable but my colleagues who have moved here recently all complain about the high cost of rent and groceries. It's tough. Crime is indeed a problem where it was not particularly so until three or so years ago. Seattle still has pluses, but I am one of those who will be leaving after 30 years. Too expensive, too randomly violent, and too badly run. The tech boom, fentanyl crisis, and politically extreme city government have ruined it. Best of luck to newcomers, its a shadow of what it once was.

Thank you, Shawn, for watching, and for taking the time to leave this comment. I think many would agree with you about most of what you said... Especially over the last few years, Seattle has had a lot of new challenges. It's still a great city and I hope it will bounce back... but, bad policies have consequences, and we're experiencing that. Even comparing the city of Seattle to all other surrounding cities here on the east side - it's a massive difference.

I’ve lived here most of my life. Planning on leaving. I can’t deal with the people and extreme cost of living. I make a good income but it’s just not worth it.

I think many feel the same way as you, Colin. There are tons of great things that this region has to offer, but it has it's challenges as well. And the cost of living is very high, compared to most other parts of the country. Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to leave a comment!

A lot of the cons (can’t do much about weather) have to do with politics. Dealing with crime, homelessness, drugs, poor infrastructure/roads, poor/slow/inefficient light rail system, high taxes… many of these issues are not addressed by Washington leadership from the governor all the way down to city council members… if these politicians are not working hard for the people and only working on promoting their own agenda, why are people voting them into office? And who ever thought a slow moving light rail train would get people and their cars off of highway 5?

Thank you for watching the video, and taking the time to leave your comment! I agree with all the challenges you've listed... and that WA leadership is not doing a very good job. Seems like we are still gaining more people than we are losing, and the job market is attracting a lot of people to move here. And lastly, the light rail should be a nice addition to a limited amount of transportation infrastructure that we have.

As a 20 year Seattle resident, the only good thing about Seattle is the nearby nature and anything else outside of Seattle.
Downtown is expensive, dirty, tons of crime, and overall just a trashy place to live.

I think there are many great things about Seattle, and its surrounding areas. But I don’t disagree with you - downtown has had many challenges, especially last few years.
