  • It is twenty years since the last time I visited this epic location which is located in the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne UK. Often referred to as "The jewel in the crown of the city ! This place was once known as Jesus Mount and the site of a once venerated pilgrims chapel, the ruins of which can still be seen and visited today. Today this stunning area of park land is called Jesmond Dene and is located in the suburb of Jesmond.
This park has something to offer everyone from serene riverside walks along the Ouseburn which meanders its way through the bottom of the steep narrow ravine of Jesmond Dene towards the River Tyne, an area called pets corner which has bird aviarys and many animals to see including my favourites which are the goats and of course the many waterfalls and woodland trails created by Lord Armstrong.
The park land itself was laid out in the 1860s by Lord Armstrong and his wife. I mentioned in the video that Lord Armstrong gave the park land to the people of the city in the 1860's however after conducting more research I have since discovered that the park land was in fact given to the people of the city in 1883.
A few hints and tips when visting the park:-
If you visiting the park to take video footage or photographs it is best to visit during quieter hours for example in the morning as it can get very busy. Also strong waterproof shoes are advised after it has been raining as some of the trails can become a little muddy. Always put your litter in the bins provided and clean up after your dogs.
Above all else enjoy your walk around this stunning location, I know I did !
