"Like totally" & "For sure, on the verge!" & "Omg, spazztastic!", "Awesome" these are also forms of slang. Scarlett was right to say "totally" used in that context was a crux of slang lol! The history behind "slang" is a fruitful one I think many should look into and speaks to the experiences of Europeans robbing many of their native tongue and replacing it with the overused one we speak now. Denied a proper education in *their* foreign language (English) spawned a very neccesary means of communication amongst the masses. I don't frown upon linguistics, there's a time and a place for everything. The last thing anyone would want is to offend those who weren't granted the opportunity or surrounded by influences to help elevate. So many politics on these matters, it's always deeper than the surface.

This is refreshing to see, I was born and raised in the bx just like Liana, i didn’t leave New York untill 3 years ago, I’m now 28. My mother always said to my sisters and I growing up, “Just because you come from the Bronx doesn’t mean you have to talk and act like it” “speak proper English” it always stuck with us, & that’s coming from my Puerto Rican mother also being born and raised in the Bronx, it’s something my grandmother told my mom and her siblings.
All my family from my dad’s side, from Spanish Harlem have such a New York hood accent and you’re right it doesn’t sound good coming from us ladies.
