Everyone clapping their hands with Cheri Oteri. She nailed it!
Yes, that was Jimmy Fallon in blackface.
L Williams - And he was a better Chris Rock than Chris himself.
@@MrDino1953 LOL, I fast-forwarded through this and missed the introduction for "Chris Rock". Initially, I thought, "Who is Chris Rock trying to impersonate. Sinbad?" Then when "Regis" is supposed to audition with Chris Rock, I realized, "No, it's Jimmy Fallon doing Chris Rock!" Hahaha!
Surprised SNL hasn't taken this down yet.
And it's great. I don't see why he felt the need to apologize.
How did that went unnoticed for years?
Oh! I was NOT expecting the blackface at 5:44 🫣
Back in those days it was fun and accepted to do soooo much like black face and uncle Jemima's mashed liquor.
blackface...classy :D
Regardless the impression was pretty fly for a white guy
Damn they’ve done a good job hiding this one , incredibly low amount of views and engagement. Probably for the better it’s like a hidden relic.
Holly s* SNL wasn't cancelled after Jimmy playing a black dude
Are we all seriously ignoring the fact that Jimmy did black face? This should be removed for obvious reasons and he should apologize.
I hope the NBC rebroadcasts of the 03/11/00 episode of SNL (aired on the same day after I was born) shall be removed, most likely after Jimmy's apologize from 2020.
Whoa. Blackface? Yikes. There are thousands of clips to post instead of this one. We know better now (or we should)
Stop virtue signalling. There's nothing wrong with it.
Darrel Hammond is the man 😂💯
Cheri Oteri as Barbara Walters was the highlight for me. The voice and physical quirks kill me as much as the lines. We didn’t get Regis here in Australia, so I wonder why his co-host Kathie Lee is the butt of so many jokes. What was it about her?
MDino: she talked and bragged about her kids incessantly, acted very superior. Insufferable woman.
@@vinnieviddivicci5459 In other words, she acted like a white woman.
@@notsure1277 - well, pretty much! 😆
R.I.P. Barbara Walters!
My favorite part is Chris Kattan as Gelman laughing
That Barbara Walters impression is Uncanny!
The Garofolo impersonation was quietly brilliant - the most overexposed Gen X’er of all time 😂
If Chris Rock is not offended by this, why you have to be 😂
He also had no problem with Ricky Gervais using the N-word. Chris Rock is not an ambassador to black culture
@@rickG913 and the point of that comment is?
@@fran8926 Chris Rock cannot sanction blackface!!!!
@@rickG913 but he was doing blackface not to make fun of black people just Chris so 🤷♀️
@@fran8926 Im not arguing that Jimmy Fallon meant to mock black people in this sketch- he clearly didn’t know or understand the history of blackface. This is a case of ignorance not bigotry. But we have got to move past the notion that only malevolent racism is a problem- there’s no such thing as benevolent racism. Fallon’s blackface is inappropriate because it feeds into Hollywood’s longstanding practice of reducing black culture into a racist caricature.
Fun fact! Barbara Walters was only two years older than Regis Philbin.
I'm not offended by Jimmy's black face lol but that was a horrible Chris Rock impression 😂
um... Jimmy Fallon in black-face.... whhhaaaaa????
Peter Bishop was so young here
So he won't work with Donny Osmond because he's male, but then he offers the job to Chris Rock....?
Yeah but just go with it...
Wait.. WTF
5:36- 😳Oh god, no!😳
Hilarious! I miss Jimmy's Chris Rock.
@@conservativebutnotfortrump7863 u do know that was comedy, right?
@@conservativebutnotfortrump7863 comedy doesn't have to be right to be funny
@@conservativebutnotfortrump7863 you know chris rock approved it right?
@@conservativebutnotfortrump7863 chris rock said he talked to jimmy fallon about doing it and said he was ok with it because it was funny.
@@FancyNoodlez people getting offended by this while The real Chris Rock loved it 😂
Oh my god
Damn, Fallon got a nice job on him.
Didn't just rubshoe polish on his skin , that was well done.
Some users will screm that is racist, I just say that was a normal sketch back in the day, they learned and stopped, erasing the past is how you create a stupid future unable to learn from mistakes, condemning them doesn't help anybody as it was decades ago.
Not a offensive steretype as it was just a imitation, could have used a black cast member for it? Sure. but the shock value added some fun.
I thought it was Eddie Murphy doing that to be honest lol
Could Tracy or Tim not have played Chris Rock
It sounds like you are assuming either of them can do a decent Chris. As well as I can recall, Tracy doesn't do ANY impressions, and I've never seen Tim's Chris. So I'm thinking they put Jimmy in there because he does a good Chris. In fact, it's probably the only reason they had the character appear in the sketch in the first place. Derp.
@@jameslarimer9211yes but why use a Chris Rock impression if your black cast members can’t do it? You could pick any impressions without having to use a White cast member to play a black person. Pretty easy
@@jameskennedy552 Because he does a REALLY SOLID impression of Chris Rock. Why is this so complicated?
@@jameslarimer9211 He does but he does a lot of other great impressions too
@@jameskennedy552 Right, and so he does those too. Ariana Grande does an amazing Judy Garland but nobody says, "Oh, she shouldn't do Judy Garland because she does other people too." Why does this issue seem to be so unnecessarily tricky when someone's skin is a certain color? Just let him do the impression. It's not like he was playing to any stereotypes or even being unflattering to Chris in any way. He was doing a very good impression of someone famous. A person. Doing an impression of another person. But if the subject is black suddenly it's super dicey? Honestly, THAT seems pretty racist.
This didn’t age well at all
Yes it did, stop being a ninny
Wow this is the infamous Black Face skit …..
I guess Fallon was the only one in the cast, who didn't have a problem with blackface as long as it got him some airtime. Fucking embarrassing.
Plus, he looks like frickin' Eddie Murphy. Wow.
Chris rock approved it you know that right? He wasnt mocking black people he was doing an impersonation
More crying about the choice of blackface for this. So tell me, if he had just went out in his normal skin tone would that part make any sense?
Hammond did a great job. No snowflakes today even mention that Fallon put on blackface here. Fallon and the producers had a really really good reason, though: somehow, in NYC, it was impossible to find one good Black comedian who was willing to perform on SNL...
