Some people refer to this as "hard cut" or "big boy cut". Since when a big creature is revealed, the person behind the trailer wants to make the game seem as 'epic' as possible, then quickly cut leaving an air of mystery and a desire to see what will happen next. 😅
This reminds of the “chin down-eyes up” trend that I used to see all over the place on the cover art. Now I cannot unsee the roar and cut. Cant tell if that is a blessing or a curse.
Well it's always at the end of the trailer, used as some way to show off a big scary enemy. I understand the strategy behind it, but it's something I'd stay away from if I was making trailers.

Curse. Definitely curse.
Now I will be looking out for this for every trailer I watch going forward...I guess devs feel it's a dramatic way to grab attention?

LoL, I think Metro Exodus also have some beast like that. Now I will always see this in trailers, lol
Even indie game trailers are doing it now. Yea it's overused for sure.
