  • The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) earned the top safety award from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for its successful “Anticipate-Recognize-Take Action! (ART)” campaign that reduced preventable accidents involving illegal left turns by downtown motorists to zero.

    Safety it's the number one priority thank you MTS for implementing this system. I just submitted my application today I can't wait to be contacted with an offer.

    The MTS Training program is second to none. Dave & Michele give a true insight and true professionalism through out the training program. I'm a former rail operator at MTS. My biggest mistake was leaving.

      It must have been some time since you were there. Dave left almost 2.5 years ago and is now a very high up at Denver RTD. I was part of his last training class before he went to Denver, that was around February 2018.

      How long is the training program where you're making X amount during that time, then after the program is completed and you pass, your salary increases quite a bit. What's the length of training time please. Thanks so much!

    • @jbc5877
      @jbc5877 3 роки тому

      @@tribzman3977 It's roughly 11 weeks, during that first 6 weeks it is mainly class room. The latter 5 weeks is different shifts with different over instructs. All 11 weeks are 40hrs and pay is around $15 per hour during the training. Once qualified, pay increases to about $23 per hour and hours drop to anywhere between 30-35 as you'd be considered part time until a full time spot becomes available through seniority. You may be lucky and have top seniority in class and bid for a schedule, otherwise you'd be calling in or getting whatever is available each week.

    I would love to see SDMTS Implement some new Light Rail / Street Car lines. It would be nice to have a Light Rail/Street Car line that would pick you up from the Airport and transport you to the existing lines and lines that will connect places like SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo and many different attractions together.
    I remember visiting San Diego in 2013 and I loved it. Your public transit system is much better than RideUTA's system by a Long Shot. I'd have to say that there are some Minor things that you need to improve on but I'd have to say that you guys get the A+.
    You need to make it so that if someone lives or is staying on the East, South, North outskirts of town you still can go downtown and enjoy the night life then make it back home. I was staying at the Super 8 across from the Crock Center on University BLVD. While staying there I was unable to go downtown and enjoy any night life without the fear of not making it back very late. The route 7 stopped going that far after 19:00 7:00 PM. I would love to see some sort of Street Car service that would take you from Downtown to the San Diego Zoo and then to that location and further East from there. If I could of gotten back Late I wouldn't felt as if I was a kid again with a Curfew.
    If SDMTS would have more Street Cars that would spread out like a Wagon Wheel with a rail line that would bring people from the airport to the main lines while following the waters edge where guests and residents would have a waterfront view of the bay on their way to Santa Fe Depot Station. I do love that you run 365 day's per year. I love your system and I just want to see some new improvements that will make a 5 Star system even better.
    On 02 OCT 2018 one of our old light rail trains caught fire. The Catenary fell down on the train and sparks flew. I will tell you that the Old Trains in any and ALL Systems must GO! If there is someone in a wheelchair they wouldn't stand a chance. I just felt it would be the right thing to let you know about what happened here in Utah so you guys can take the proper steps to make shore this doesn't happen to you. I hope you have gone 100% Low Floor Trains?
    I miss riding your service and hope to be able to ride it again soon?
    Thank You.

    Put a louder horn on these trains and alarm-gongs which these trains badly need.
