- I have a set of drawings received from a fellow modeller because I liked the design. I have made some changes in dimensions, materials, applications and I brought my own ideas into.
And believe me, he does not fly
Also have a look at www.stirlingheteluchtmotoren.nl - Наука та технологія
Although Stirling engines cannot provide the power/weight ratio needed for flying , it is still amazing , and a proof of your expertise and engineering skills . Respect from Hungary .
Maybe with longer and broader lightweight blades?
I do not care what anyone say's.
What an absolute work of art. The physics of the engine, and the engineering of the movement.
You should mass produce them, I would love to have one, and could really see physics professors using them in class.
ED if you ever decide to sell plans, or kits, sign me up, I want one.
Bob
Me too... one get one of those
Me three XD
Me four. I would love to be able to make one that is 1/10 as nice as that one. If he sold a kit I would buy one for sure...
A
True!!!
I just found your post by accident, I want to say this is also a beautiful work of art.
Thank you for the nice words, I always want my models look as beautiful as possible. The choice of music is not always easy, the music should not dominate and fit at the moment and the images you are looking at. Greetings from the Netherlands Ed van den Berg
+Ed van den Berg The only real concern is the gear drive for the tail rotor, those type of gear sets are weak, might want to start thinking of a different set up there, But yes it is clean and really nice looking
+majik fuzzybutt
I think that a bevel gear would be advantageous in this project because they do no require much room. The gears have such a tiny workload I doubt teeth wear will be a problem, and he is probably using a reasonably durable alloy.
+Ed van den Berg For royalty free music I find incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/
very useful. Search on genre, or moods is available.

This is great heli music!: ua-cam.com/video/3YOYlgvI1uE/v-deo.html
HAHA!!! I love Stirlings - thanks for sharing!
It is just amazing. It looks neat, clean; it imposes respect for the creator.
Stunningly beautiful workmanship.
Your choice of bearings and precision paid off nicely. Smooth running and very quiet. Your modifications are excellent and show a good understanding of physics and mechanical efficiency.
Somebody has a boat load of talent. Top shelf Quality, well done, thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Dear Ed van den Berg,
Your wonderful work, a true work of art. Congratulations!
Armando Barlotti
Thanks for looking at my helicopter. Greetings Ed van den Berg
+Ed van den Berg That is amazing... the detail and workmanship are outstanding. Well Done!
+Ed van den Berg welldone... can you say which gas you filled inside the cylinder for pumping motion apart from the heat source?
+Enniyan Thangaraju. No gas species only air is entered without pressure. Greetings from the Netherlands. Ed van den Berg

Waarom vinden mensen dit niet leuk?? dit is toch geweldig, helemaal omdat het'' hand made'' is complimenten!!
Beautiful piece of machinery there sir! Nicely built, and looks awesome.
Do you plan on making any more of these? I would love to have one for my office desk.
a great artistic work. maybe try to make a RC version of it
How does this have over 1000 dislikes? surely people didn't click on a video of a stirling engined model helicopter expecting it to actually fly? Good Work :-)
You're right, it's the engine and not the helicopter. I do not care.
Rogue-Electron
You are so very true. It is a beautiful machine...
@@241975dm It is BEAUTIFUL thank you so very much for sharing the video...
printerdockter thank you
Absolutely beautiful piece of work. I'd love to have something like that sitting on my desk...
What a magnificent combination of art and engineering! Bravo!!!
as a helicopter mechanic, let me say that is a beautiful working model! can i ask if you hand milled the parts or were you CNC'ing? lovely! :-)
+mattyp80 klkkjkkjkkk mooll
Correction...Stirling engine Fan!
+Diamond Geezer I was about to say that... Lets call it a fan instead...
Sergio Pinto Its a "cool" machine then!
he needs to make a vertical stand for this though.
Beautiful machine. :)
Peter Nolan. Ph.D.(physics). Dublin. Ireland
really?? you sign your name on youtube comments?? you can see that you have an account name, correct?? also, apart from giving more information to identity thieves, why does anyone on the internet need to know your field or location??
>.
Awesome work. I don't get all of the rude comments and dislikes. If people would research stirling engines they would see why this doesn't fly. Excellent craftsmanship!
This is the best work. Congratulations!!
that's a nice bit of engineering and look's grate nice one
Thanks for the nice compliment.
Beautiful craftsmanship!
Johnny Rebel. Thanks
Immaculate. A wonderful piece of art and engineering.
This video looks, sounds, and feels elegant.
What a great idea. Next time make a vacuum cleaner that doesn't suck.
It's pretty obvious that if the rotors are running on a Stirling cycle, there won't be enough power generated to lift the chopper.
This is a fantastic effort nonetheless.
😂😂😂😂😂😂....killllll
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂😂
LOL😂😂😂😂😂😂
Your idea is more great than his.
You are an artist !!!!!
Greetings from Transylvania (Romania)
Finally, I found a Hungarian guy who admits that Transylvania is in Romania !
Very good! Voluptuous craftsmanship!
Truly a MASTERPIECE of engineering and craftsmanship. And guys of course it will not fly that is not the point its for demonstration only so appreciate it for what it is. Sterling engines do not have the power to weight ratio needed for flight. I would like to see a sterling power something that will actually move though such as a car or boat that would be a great next project for you to attempt Ed van den Berg.
Hello sir? thanks for the nice words, I already have two cars with a Stirling engine. Here the addresses on You Tube ( ua-cam.com/video/2kqFMkwzcBk/v-deo.html ) ( ua-cam.com/video/4NpxHCLj1XM/v-deo.html ) Greetings Ed van den Berg
People can hate on it all they want but this is what art looks like. It wasn't intended to fly... It was intended to be a collectors item that actually moves and to show off what a stirling motor can do. Very nice
Sheldon Conrad , Thanks For The Nice Words. Ed
Ed, beautiful machine work, and craftsmanship! Having been a helicopter pilot back in the day, I'm sitting here wondering how to put an engine like this into play for real-world applications (think exotic metals and carbon fiber for weight saving). Thanks for sharing your amazing model creation!
toddy2519, Thanks for the compliments, but in real life the flam goes out if you want to fly
Very well balanced.. i see absolutely no vibrations.. very well done
really excellent work, nicely done, im proud of you!
The working piston is 13 mm, the displacer piston is 18 mm
sell it to me for $20
u'll never can make it for $20
AmarFawwaz dotcom
i will never try to find out
Wow
Igor Igor
very impressive standard of model engineering. Well done!
Some pretty stupid comments below, this is just another example of your beautifully engineered models! Wonderful to watch. Magnificent engineering. Thanks for posting........ keep them coming.
David Austin, Thanks for the nice words
That is a beautiful work of art and engineering, sir.
Chauncey McGuilicutty . Thanks
labor of love.
Well done
Hey man, great job.
Fan from Brazil
That’s wonderful, what a amazing bit of kit
Great craftsmanship.. I'd love one.
i love this project Ed van Berg
from my hard
Thank you for watching my video and your comments
Ed van den Berg
Inspiration for the next person to make one that flies and a third person to make a full-scale version, but I don't fly so I will just watch. Thank you. It is good to be positive in all things.
This is awesome. I'm intrigued by Sterling engines. This one is a work of art. Very nice indeed.
Wade Caton Thank you for the nice compliments. Greetings Ed van den Berg
Thankyou for posting this. VERY NICE work there, do you make these to sell?
I can't be the only one who wants to sharpen the blades and start dropping fruit.
lol yeah
Concerned Aleks
Concerned Aleks lmao
That is truly a work of art! I would bet if the cost to make it isn't to much, you could sell quite a few of them!
Really nice work! Beautiful.
*I was waiting for it to fly all the video* ☹️
Me too hhhhhhh
You need 2 mods -
1). Use Hydrogen as your working gas. You will get 3X the RPM's
2). Everything needs to be carbon fiber. Trim every milligram.
It'll fly.
+TIMEtoRIDE900 ...it will not fly...still to heavy for its weight you need more than 50w power and the burner maybe deliver 50w thermal power but there is lot of loss ..look at those little heli toys..need lot of rpm ....anyway a cool gadget !!!
Prachtig gemaakt Ed, bewaar hem goed als je later oud bent sta je d.r zelf versteld van, heel mooi gemaakt, nooit weg doen!!
Fantastic kinetic sculpture!
muito criativo
No
Can it run minesweeper?
Yes
@@franzmartens9807 but can it run crysis?
Its just a presentation model guys. He didnt built a RC Helicopter , which of the youtube is full of.
Its all fine and good. 98% of the comment authors wouldnt be able to make anything similiar and fine.
It's really a piece of art I so much appreciate this.
Pretty cool but one small flaw in the design, the rotor is rotating clockwise and the tail rotor should be on the right hand side. :) The rotor is on the left though, like European heli's however Euro helis that do that spin the main rotors anti-clockwise.
It also lacks a tiny mouse as a pilot.
how can u keep the flame on while she is flying????
I will protect him with my hand
Ficou ótimo, parabéns! Poderia me informar qual combustível você usou? E saberia me dizer como funciona a relação do volume morto dentro da seringa?
that is beautiful, could watch it all day .
I couldn't watch all of it because of the music. I fell asleep.
Nathan Bradfield lol mee too
Materialen moet je kopen en de machines heb ik gekocht zonder gaat dit echt niet en mijn beroep was draaier en frezer .
seems to be my heat will soon generate to do so.
Mecanismo interessante, trabalho muito bom. Parabéns!
Wow, this is a great mechanism. I like it.
You can't call it helicopter unless it fly.
I decide that for myself, Thank you.
+Ed van den Berg good comeback c:
stupid thinking
Airplanes do fly. So, you call an airplane as helicopter?
Correct
People seem to have a massive problem with a sterling engine running something that is funtionally more like a helicopter than the lego city helicopter. I don't see people hating on lego for their helicopters.
Fantastic work! Congrats
Hello that's a great Stirling helicopter!!
I'd like to make it for a school proyect, could you help me giving me some information, drawings, etc??
I would like to make a purchase one for my son 5 yrs old birthday
Very cool! You did amazing work!
even tho it doesnt fly it still looks really cool
Thanks
Chris Holt. Thanks
Thank you for the response
greetings from the Netherlands
Ed van den Berg
Nice engineering even though it doesn't fly.
Lovely piece of work
Beautiful piece of work.
Whats this music ?
Is coli
Hey Man superb helicopter...!
I would like to make this Stirling Helicopter can
you help me.
beautiful engineering. but until it flies it remains a fan.
Excellent design and performance. This is in a class of it's own. 👍
Thanks for the compliments, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, greetings Ed
Do you have nothing else to do
hahahaha
Nah boi
Clickbait title got you over 4mil views. LOL
It should say :
'Stirling Engine Helicopter Air Circulater'
Though it is a work of art.
Wow, nice detail. Awesome for display.
Thanks for the nice words.
That is so cool! Well done!
For those of you who are complaining and being sarcastic, grow up. If you saw this for the first time and were actually standing in front of it, and were as interested in it as a lot of viewers are, you would spend at least 5 minutes looking all around it, looking at various specific parts and asking the owner/creator about it before it was even fired up. If this isn't something you are interested in or if it isn't exciting enough to hold your autistic brain's attention, then you shouldn't have clicked on it. If you were one of the many who likely clicked on the video because you didn't have a clue what a Stirling Engine is and were unsurprisingly disappointed that it didn't "do something cool", then quietly move on to another video. I'm sure the blame could be traced back to your parents and their lack of attention and responsibility to teach you decency and moral values, but you all need to learn about politeness and respect. To put it bluntly, if you can't say anything nice, then keep your mouth shut; or in this case, have enough self-control to refrain from typing comments. There's no reason for it and it only serves to highlight what kind of person you really are and that's NOT something to be proud about. In stead of wasting time being a troll or a complete dick, maybe take advantage of the situation and spend that time learning something new by watching additional videos related to this one.
Kilroy was here. Thanks for the true words, I also often annoyed at those strange reactions but I stopped to respond to them they do not know better. I like to read the nice reactions and gladly respond to questions and suggestions. I am proud of my work and also let other people who are interested in them enjoy my work. thanks again. Kind regards Ed van den Berg
You're welcome. Things just aren't the same as they once were. Remember that the internet makes everything impersonal and it's easy for kids to say things to others that they would never dare say in person as they hide behind a computer screen. Every child is "tough" in their own mind, but saying those same things in person would get them a well deserved ass-beating. Don't worry about them though and just keep doing what you do friend. And about the helicopter... I can appreciate the craftsmanship! Of course, I'm a licensed helicopter pilot so I'm a little biased ha ha.
97% short of the energy needed for lift
Apart from the music that was awesome well done.
Now the thing just has to fly and you'll win a Nobel Prize 😁
Man: can you fly ?
Helicopter: yes! Thts why i made for!
Man: You Lier !
Its a bird! Its a plane! Its a Stirling engine helicopter.... oh wait its a bird...
I find this very interesting, nice work bud :) God Bless
Fantastic fine work. Could happily replaced all my wife's stone died sculptures with this fancy helicopter.
helicopters shud fly ! is this grounded? why u call it a helicopter ?
because I want that
What part of the name helicopter indicates that it should fly.
A toy car is still a car even if it doesn't drive
THAT IS CALLED A TOY CAR. NOT A CAR.
Because you are slow in the head. LOL. It's a show piece.
чо не хочет лететь?)))
Brilliant Engineering !!!
Wow, that's gorgeous
It doesn't fly.. wel that sucks :(
Benjamin Coussement
Can you fly? Nope...you suck
Video is fake
Is er dan niemand Nederlands?
🇳🇱Like als je Nederlands bent🇳🇱
Beautiful piece of engineering. Don't listen to the haters who expect it to fly, that's not the point of the sterling engine here.
very nice and smooth running'' everything must be well balanced i guess being so smooth in operation.
