  • Today we take out the 2021 SYM Cruisym Alpha 300, mount the phone, fire up the app and do some performance testing. It performed pretty much how it should, compared to the Maxsym 400 the only other scooter I have done these measurements on. In the video I will be testing the acceleration 0-20, 0-50, 0-80 and 0-100km/h.

What do you think? Is it fast or slow for a 300?

    • @ari_jola8764

Not very fast, but fast enough for daily driving.👍

Quite fast for urban riding and overtaking, in our country it's the "goldillocks" 2 wheels, not too small, not too big, good enough for long rides too.....

Thanks for the test, I bought a 2017 CRUiSYM 4 years ago, it's very comfortable to ride. The new model (aka CRUiSYM alpha) did not sale here in Taiwan, only the Joymax Z+, so we can't try it on our own. I wish SYM could build TL version for CRUiSYM as the top grade cruiser bike in their product line.

    • @RideWithAlex

I don't think the TL engine would fit in the Cruisym frame without making it bigger and raising the seat height.

@@RideWithAlex Thanks, I think I used it in the past, but got inconsistent results. I will give it another try (maybe the app has improved meanwhile). What are your settings (on or off) for:

@@vincent2167 High accuracy always on and no GPS correction. Now I know the results aren't exact, that is why I always do at least 2 runs and also I do them to compare between scooters that's why I will use the same phone with the same app, at least we can see the differences between the different models I get to test. I the future I would like to buy a VBox that is calibrated and I can have proper scientific measurements but that is the future :D

@@RideWithAlex Thanks for providing your app settings. High accuracy on and no GPS correction definitely give the most accurate results !

good to know that maxsym is faster. i am a bigger and taller rider so cruisym is a bit small, i afraid maxsym would be more sluggish due to the weight but from the maxsym vis i see you handling it well even at low speed.

As a Vegas resident I'd be happy just to see any SYM in stock.
The choices, or lack thereof, for scooters above 50cc here have been pitiful for way too long. Sure the dealers have had scooters like the Honda Metropolitan and Ruckus, which for some reason now seems to be in almost unlimited supply after being scarce the last few years. But other than the Burgman 200/400, Vespas, Zuma, and occasional sighting of an Xmax, there's hardly anything above 50cc. I'm lucky to have a Genuine/Sym/Lance/Kymco dealer near me. But apart from a couple 170's (Buddy and Hooligan) that will probably get snatched up as I write this, they only have 50's and ordering/shipping a bike like the Citycom would probably take at least a month.
It's just sad how the "scooter stigma" is embedded into Americans. Otherwise we'd have way more to choose from...heck Honda and Yamaha might even have the confidence to bring the ADV 350, X-ADV, and TMax here. I mean, ride or drive whatever makes you happy, but the above-50cc scooter is sadly heading toward being less than an afterthought because not only would people here "not be caught dead" on a scooter, but those who get their motorcycle license and are honestly curious about scooters never commit to buying one.....they fear the opinions of people who don't matter.
