10 Cutting Boards from Scrap Wood Build
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 гру 2018
- In this video I get wild and take all the scraps from my old shop and make 10 cutting boards for holiday gifts. I make a bunch of long grain cutting boards with handles, some with juice grooves, a few with chamfered edged. An end grain board, and a board with some curves from the bandsaw!

Excellent John. Love your sense of humor. I'm a retired manufacturing engineer, 74 years old and trying to make some extra income making cutting boards, flag cases and cornhole boards. I'm an electrical engineer by degree but love working with wood. Thanks John.
Fun to watch you turn your scrap into useful and beautiful cutting boards! It's great to see you "making" in your new shop John!
*TopFineWoodworking. Com* is an amazing book about woodworking. I`m a graduate of a one-year carpentry course from a local tech college. Of all books I`ve read during my study about carpentry, I think this is the finest book I`ve read so far. It explains everything regarding woodworking as well as complements it with helpful photos.?
Thanks. Really nice work.
I love how you freestyled all the random designs. Looking for a way to get rid off our cutoffs so I’ll definitely try this. I’ve been binging the podcast and it’s inspired me to take building/making more serious. Just bought a camera off Craigslist today!!!!
These all are incredible!! Great use for scraps and so many ways to make cool, new designs
The checkered one was my favorite. But the ribbon was a great touch to change things up.
These are way super rad.
They are cool gotta try that, great work.
Nice man! congratulations on 100k John
John is one awesome woodworker, if I had his scrap pile I would think I died and went to heaven!

Thank you John for the replies on both videos. That puts you a huge step above other tubers. I enjoy your videos.

Bud, I’ve watched a dozen or so of your videos so far but was hooked at number one. Thank you so much for these. My wife has been wanting a new cutting board and yours are excellent. Not very often I say this “ but you are the man’.!

Parabéns ótimo trabalho 👍👍👍
Just amazing 😍😍😍
Okay, I want a cutting board. Just saying. Loved them, especially with intertwined design. ;)
You make it look so easy!! Most of my glue ups take forever, my cheap thicknesser producing mating edges with great gaping gaps you can see light through....but it is satisfying when you finally get it, nice video, thanx.
Thanks Mr. B. W. I would get that planer fixed, it'l save you a ton of time!
These are awesome...Thank You!
Love your projects. Nice to see someone that doesn’t make what everyone else is making. Really good work.
Super fun John! I really liked the "bandsaw" fancy design cutting board! Awesome new shop!!

Love your projects and channel. I teach high school woodshop and am always looking for new projects. We mill our own lumber out of salvaged logs and use the lumber in our shop.
i love that, im going to start salvaging some logs myself!
Big congrats, man. 100k is a big achievement.
Just found this video and you jumped from 100k to 305k.
New sub man.
I love watching you get creative even when it's something as simple as cutting boards. Do you treat them with anything to protect them from water and general use?
Good energy god bless brother 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
You PUNCHED this project in the face!!!
Thanks Greg, glad you enjoyed it
Quite nice work - diggin' on the 'inlays'.
Thanks Jerry, those came out nice!
Funny watching older videos and noticing right away the lighting and camera changes over the years. :D
Really cool build video, loved the inlay of that one board.
yea that came out awesome!
New subscriber here. I adore your shop wall design. Also, great use of scraps and lovely finished boards.
Heckin nice builds man, love the videos!
Thanks Weston, glad you dig it !
The only major shop tools that I have are a table saw & a radial arm saw, I have a 7-1/4 Skil saw & an electric hand planer as I don't have any room in my basement for any more large tools, due to the size of my shop area is small. I would love to build a butcher block that you see in butcher shops, where the butcher block is two feet thick & about 2-1/2 feet square on a set of wooden legs.
Awesome idea with the one you cut in the bandsaw for the curves. And congratulations on 100,000!
thanks Danny! Appreciate the support brother !
John Malecki oh course man. I think you had about 18,000 subs when I first found your channel. It's been fun to watch it grow along with your businesses.
Thanks brother !!
I wish my scrap bin was full of beautiful hardwoods...... congratulations on 100k
Thanks Kurt!
Nicely done John! 👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks Fred!

I'm looking forward to building some cutting boards , it's been awhile since I tried way back in highschool.
That sounds Awesome guys! goodluck
I dig it!
Glad you enjoyed it my friend
Nice work! Nice boards!
Thank you!
Congrats, Well deserved.
Appreciate that!
Great video, all the designs look great
Thanks John !
Very nice use of scrap wood. All of those barrels of wood down to 10 cutting boards. The exotic woods you used to make these boards is expensive and knowing you got almost every square inch used is being smart. I hate to see it burned or put on to a landfill.
well it does bio-degrade so its not the absolute worst place if it ends up in a dump.... but yes its a good use every year to make some boards!
They all good.
Thanks Bobby. really appreciate it
Congrats on 100k, John! I remember all the way back to when you made one of your first signs.
Yea Bruce that seems like centuries ago!
Fun to watch you turn your scrap into useful and beautiful cutting boards! It's great to see you "making" in your new shop John!
I actually came up with a great idea from this video. I might throw it into the coffee table I’m gonna make for my mom here soon :)

Thanks Ath !
Family has been enjoying your vids! Was curious if you had ever made live edge and epoxy cribbage boards. I really want to find one for our new house in the mountains! Purple Heart would be a cool wood to use! Or even that red wood in this vid! Keep up the fun work!
John- Loving the channel, stumbled on you videos yesterday and have been binge-watching ever since. Now I want to make some cutting boards and build some tables... Off to buy a planer and $500 worth of epoxy... :)
Nice. Really nice. I wish I had the tools but all I have is a skill saw and about 15 hand planes. And a lot of scrap boards. Palm sander.
It would sure be nice to see technique from before electricity.
for a former Steeler those are a lot of Browns themed cutting boards. Nice work
Great looking cutting boards. Congrats on the 100k
Thank you !
Dobry herbatnik
Great video

I need more dust collector shots!
You’ve inspired me to use up a bunch of my walnut scrap. Nice boards. Punch!
there you go!
John, what’s your recommendation on cutting board thickness? I’ve heard a couple different theories.
i typically go 1" + to play it safe
I really dig that backsplash when use that new wall!! 👊👊👊
Yea we're loving the new wall as well !
Lots of cool designs. Props on 100,000
Thank you!
I need to have friends like you by Christmas

Great. I would like to know if its same effect while using standart wood glue(PVA)?
Standard wood glue would work!
